NC for this. I know MN as a whole has views on relationships with large age gaps so thought people might be interested. Or just curious.

OP posts:

Does he have a brother??? (lol)

Tryingmybestadhd · 26/01/2024 19:28

I’m curious about the sex lol , how frequently do you have sex ?

tolerable · 26/01/2024 19:41

do either of you have kids?

OP hasn't. He has two Sons similar age to OP.

Good grief. The arrogance of you. That question has been asked and answered several times already. As if everyone was really just waiting for TownGown to turn up and say it like it is.

People are asking questions that OP answered ages ago. Do they think the rest of us haven't asked already?

Some people never RTFT

I don't think the OP is expecting people to have any view in particular. This is AMA. It's an interesting topic because it's not a typical age gap/relationship, hence why people might want to ask questions.

This. Not sure why so many posters are challenging the OP’s reasons for posting. She is in an unusual situation that she recognises others might be interested in and has created an AMA.

I’ve always liked a bit of Nigel Havers, he’s probably about that age & i’m same age more or less as you, so…

Nigel is 72, that's quite a difference in the stages of ageing! I fancy him too and am similar age to you.

SwimmingWorrier · 26/01/2024 20:52

I've always fancied Richard Gere. He was so hot in Officer & A Gentleman and Pretty Woman etc. He is older than my Dad.

I'd rather be with my Husband who is 6 years older than me. 51 & 57 and all is good.

EffedUp · 26/01/2024 22:30

Sorry I didn’t quite OP properly…
‘He has two sons, both of whom seem fine with it. I sometimes wonder if daughters would think differently, but as things stand we all get on well.’

I too have a large gap in age and DP has both a daughter and son. He was a bit worried initially to introduce us but I get on with them and no issues. His DD see’s we’re happy and that’s what’s most important to her.
You do you, doesn’t matter what other people think so long as you’re happy!

My DH was three times my age on our wedding day. Our marriage felt like a lifelong honeymoon to me. The hardest thing is being left alone but the relationship we had was worth the price. Yes, people stared and made uncalled-for remarks. So what? He was and still is the love of my life.

toxic44 · 26/01/2024 23:14

I'd also add, for those who say, 'Oh, you'll be his carer', yes, you will. It comes with the territory. It might sound odd but the more frail he becomes, the more tenderly you love him. At least, that's how it was for me.

My late DH was 35 years older than me. We got used to the stares..
One day pre ds2 we were in a coffee shop having lunch and some old ladies sat next to us. They kept looking at us, nudging each other and whispering. DH noticed and winked at me... He leant forward and in a loud whisper said., "WHEN WILL YOUR HUSBAND BE HOME???" Intense twittering from next table...
I leant forward and replied equally loudly "IF WE GO NOW WE CAN HAVE TWO HOURS IN BED!!" Table next door went into meltdown... 😂 😂 😂
We finished our lunch got up and as we left DH turned and winked at the ladies who were doing passable goldfish out of water impressions...
DH had a wonderful sense of humour which I miss but thankfully ds2 has inherited it! ❤️

😂...aww please be true

The biddies blue rinse must have turned white from the shock of it all!

Absolutely 100% true!!

I know the OP has left the thread, but if she comes back I'd just like to say thank you for an interesting post, and also to wish her and her lovely man many years of happiness together - they have something special, and are extremely happy - good on them!

sleepysleepytired · 27/01/2024 10:51

I don't think the op will necessarily be his carer. They don't even live together. I couldn't stomach having a sexual relationship with someone 30 years older than me but each to their own. My mum did end up doing everything for her husband (not my dad) before he died in his early 80s before she hit 60. Even toileting. They were married though and decided not to hire carers. I could never do it.

"AMA?"

ok, I'll say what we're all thinking but afraid to ask. He has a lot of money right?

Sorry I know this thread is a couple of days old but I just wanted to share how much I cringed reading this post 🫢for all the reasons a couple of others have since said (that this question/idea was raised right at the start of the thread and a couple of times since and how you obvs thought we were all going to be like “yeah wow, I hadn’t thought of mentioning that!”
How embarrassing 🙈
🤣
