Do you enjoy your food when you are eating?

Atalune · 03/05/2021 20:21

I think the op is well aware of her food intake and knows exactly that her diet is crap. @JaniieJonesHmm

SueSaid · 03/05/2021 20:23

'I think the op is well aware of her food intake and knows exactly that her diet is crap'

Ah right. So she can say what she eats but in an ama we aren't actually allowed to ask her anything in your opnion. Got it.

Joeblack066 · 03/05/2021 20:23

@3AndStopping

They say over eating is a form of self abuse, I think I resonate with this.

Crippling self awareness & self loathing or overly
Critical of yourself can = over eating (almost punishing yourself.)

I hope you love yourself OP! People have weighed more & lost it... hear of it all the time. Not saying it’s easy, but it’s not impossible. All the best to you Flowers

Absolutely agree with this. It is self harm and should be treated as such. I know cos I do it too.
PersonalAssistantParent · 03/05/2021 20:23

I don't agree with fat shaming but also don't agree with the current line that being overweight is OK and big should be celebrated. Being very overweight has major health implications for the person and for our NHS.

What's your opinion on this? Do you think doctors should take a harsher stance on peoples weight?

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 20:24

@PasstheBucket89 Yes, definitely! There are things which cause me to comfort eat so most definitely!

@UCOinanOCG Thanks for letting me know! Feels like I will never get there but I will! I would probably be happy at 12 stone to be honest!

@PlantDoctor Oh! That is concerning! I will bring it up with my doctor. Thanks :)

@everythingcrossed I feel that being overweight should NOT be celebrated. Some overweight people might well be beautiful but the bottom line is it's unhealthy and overweight people are a drain on the NHS (me included!).

@Allmyarseandpeggymartin I definitely have a compulsion to eat at the moment (stress is driving me to it)! I am great with calories and nutrition and quite knowledgeable in that area so I hope in the next few days I can start eating healthily and get to the pool and maybe the gym. I want to be healthy now. I don't want another summer being fat!

@Atalune I am a great cook! I do enjoy cooking when I have time or when I am not tired which seems to be never! I definitely need to make more time and more effort with cooking.

@Vinto I definitely would but I know I can also lose the weight without the help of surgery. Just got to get going!

@TunstallTansy I have a well-paid job which pays for it all.

@PatchworkElmer Aww, thank you! I love your username!

@tinseloatcake Where I live now, there are loads of fast food takeaways within easy reach. Not good. I just have to find willpower as there seems to be a McDonalds everywhere round here!

Have you ever joined a WeightWatchers (or similar) group, and, if so, did it help and would you consider trying that again - or trying it for the first time? Thank you for doing this AMA Flowers. I hope you manage to lose the weight you want to get off.

Atalune · 03/05/2021 20:26

@JaniieJones I don’t think telling the op to stop eating McDonald’s and have overnight oats is asking a question though. And it’s stating the bleeding obvious too. Confused

PuppyPupPups · 03/05/2021 20:26

I have been 23 stone in the past.
Not that now but spent a fair while there and am still overweight.

It does not make one any different to anyone else.

Given this, I don't know what the ever loving fuck an AMA would be for.

For instance, you don't actually have to eat much more than anyone else to get there. That's misinformation put about by the predjudiced and believed by the ill informed. A few too many calories here and there, coupled with working sitting down will get you there quite quickly if that is naturally the tendencies of your body type.

I am really quite perplexed by talking of being 23 stone like it is some sort of special characteristic.

Fat people are still just people. We don't flipping morph into something unusual if we hit a certain weight.

fitflopqueen · 03/05/2021 20:26

Has Corona virus affected how you feel about being more vulnerable to severe symptoms and can I ask how old are you?

CarnationCat · 03/05/2021 20:28

What sort of outfits do you wear?

Atalune · 03/05/2021 20:29

op thanks for coming back to my question.

Hope you can make the changes you need to. We are all with you.

Terrazzo · 03/05/2021 20:31

I was going to ask how you feel about HAES (the Health At Every Size movement)/Fat Acceptance but it sounds like you’re not pro that? It seems to be growing among young people and everyone who insists it’s not unhealthy to be xxxl is also young 🤔 I am probably around 16 stone, wear a 16-18 and have been pretty stable throughout my adulthood, i exercise every single day and eat well, and despite that once I turned 30 the effects of my weight definitely started to hit me. I love my body and have had 2 perfect pregnancies, it does everything I need it to etc but I can’t accept being this weight and try every day to better myself. Just wonder your view on it all!

Vinto · 03/05/2021 20:32

I can imagine it's hard when you're an emotional eater (mo judgement, same here) and you know the thing you need to do most to bring you happiness is not to eat, but while you're unhappy the thing that brings you comfort is eating.

You said you started to gain weight rapidly in your early 30s, and the weight has an impact on your fertility. Are you aware of time running out? I know in your shoes I'd want to have gastric surgery asap to give me the best chance possible of being a mother.

Agree 100% Why is this an ama?
roguetomato · 03/05/2021 20:33

SnarkyBag, I have no intention to take a pop at the OP. I just find it painful to read.

Wide · 03/05/2021 20:37

How old are you and were you over weight as a child? Did it pile on fast or slowly creep up?

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 20:39

@HelloMissus I went to the doctor about my MH issues and was helped to a degree. I know I have to help myself and i'm slowly improving and getting to a good place in life. Hooray!

@PoppyWoods My feet are fine, which is a rarity I know! I do bathe and moisturise daily so maybe that helps?

@BentBabyBastard Answered upthread

@MizMoonshine Absolutely!!! Shall we do weekly weight-ins? Would love to buddy up!

@Thomasina2021 No I haven't. Is it hard to follow and time consuming?

@Straysocks Aww, thank you very much!

@Pebbledashery I have probably once. Weirdly, even though my self-confidence isn't always great, I don't care what people in a restaurant think of me. I love eating out and fine food!

@3AndStopping and @nellly Aww, thank you for your kind words :)

@Iwantanap My infertility massively concerns me so I get stressed and eat more! Arrgghhh! Only I can help myself though and if I want it bad enough...

@Pursefirst answered upthread :)

@JaniieJones I'm not hungry all the time. I probably don't know what hunger feels like when i'm at home or WFH. In the office I get hunger pangs. My body just craves it to feel better. Do you add anything to overnight oats apart from water?

@EveningOverRooftops I couldn't have put it better myself. Well done on your weight loss! That is fantastic!!! I'm proud of you and I don't even know you but I genuinely am!

@Joeblack066 Ahh, thanks :)

OP posts:
RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 20:41

@Atalune I've never been keen on oats anyway! Ha ha ha!

OP posts:
MizMoonshine · 03/05/2021 20:42

@RainbowBriteUk I'm all the way up and down for that.

HowWeAre · 03/05/2021 20:42

Hi OP!

Thanks for being so honest. I was wondering if you would consider yourself as having an eating disorder? I am a yo-yo dieter and have been extremely underweight, obese and everything in between. I would consider myself as having had an eating disorder when I was at both ends of the spectrum but I know that’s not true for some.

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 20:43

@Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark and @PuppyPupPups you don't have to be here so bugger off! Despite you thinking it's not a topic for an AMA people are asking plenty of questions!

OP posts:
AlfonsoTheTerrible · 03/05/2021 20:43

No questions for you, OP, just a "thank you" for creating this thread and being so open. I wish you all the best.

QueenLagertha · 03/05/2021 20:44

Hi op. Do you feel that people treat you differently due to your weight? Do you get many comments about your weight from others?

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 20:44

@thecatneuterer Fab question! Always a normal size! Never fat! In my daydreams (ha!) I always am slender too! Grin
