Ask away!

OP posts:

Carrots and water might not be very appetising, but each to their own , you couldn't pay me enough to eat a mcmuffin.
My point was about personal responsibility, not berating MacDonalds .

SueSaid · 04/05/2021 12:24

'I opened the jar I had them in and the smell made me retch. Their are many other healthy breakfasts that don’t smell like a shit inside a sweaty sock I certainly don’t eat things that reek.'

Ok you don't like them, no one's going to force them on you calm down. 'Shit inside a sweaty sock' 🙄.

'You weren't asked for your advice and OP has already said she knows about healthy food, just finds it hard to stick to, so it wasn't helpful.'

Ah ok. 'Ask me anything' except have you tried oats they're really filling. Got it.

VanGoghsDog · 04/05/2021 12:32

It just amazes me that people find overnight oats, or any oats, porridge for example, filling at all. I eat them and am still hungry, they most certainly don't fill me up til lunchtime.

I don't mind the taste, and haven't noticed any smell at all, but they're definitely not filling.

I don't eat Macdonald's at all though, so no idea how filling that might be.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/05/2021 12:41

"This won't be what you want to hear but stop having McDonald's for breakfast and try overnight oats instead. For a start."

This is what you wrote @JaniieJones and it wasn't a question at all. It was really preachy and patronising.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/05/2021 12:43

Thanks for the interesting thread OP.
I'm surprised at the people who don't think it's an appropriate subject for an AMA. I suppose they are large people who have problems dealing with it or something like that.

What you've written is very similar to other large people who've been honest on here so none of it was a shock to me. There was a thread a while ago where obese people spoke about what they actually eat and were very honest about it.

whataboutbob · 04/05/2021 12:43

I’m questioning my sense of smell now. Overnight oats smell of nothing, or vaguely of whatever you soaked them in ( to me at least).

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 04/05/2021 12:44

Please let's not derail with endless overnight oats recipes. I'm sure the OP could rustle some up if she wanted to. It's not about her not knowing what a healthy meal is.

It's personal, isn't it? Let's not have the thread derailed by overnight oats. It was silly and unsolicited advice imo anyway.
whataboutbob · 04/05/2021 12:45

Research shows the best breakfast for satiety is high protein. Maybe scrambled/ poached eggs, or kippers. Have some whole grain bread with it and it’s healthy and should keep you satisfied for a while.

She's not asking for advice!!!! It's AMA.

The OP isn't eating out of hunger Hmm

No not your sense of smell, oats don't smell! despite BashfulClams silly 'shit in a sweaty sock' description. End of oats derail.

Over and out

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 04/05/2021 13:11

👋

Gingerkittykat · 04/05/2021 13:11

Can I ask how people treat you? I've not found people in general don't treat me any differently since I've gained weight but I have 0 male attention anymore.

shinynewapple21 · 04/05/2021 13:46

I was wondering if you have seen the thread under 'Weight Loss Chat' about a book called Why We Eat (Too Much). It's about metabolism, yo-yo dieting re-setting your body's set weight' , particular foods encouraging people to over-eat etc

If you get chance, have a look at the thread I'm finding it fascinating.

MrDarcysMa · 04/05/2021 22:45

@Terrazzo that's not actually what the HAES movement is.

Op thank you for your honesty x

toomanytoomuch · 05/05/2021 13:10

I'd like to thank you for posting this AMA, and to wish you luck in the future!

Do you have good time periods where you eat healthier and the weight comes off? I have those, then it goes straight back on again.

From your example daily menu, it looks like you are eating the wrong things. It's easy to do and underestimate the calories in an item, I was very shocked to discover the Greggs pasties have about 500 calories in them, but they feel like you have barely eaten anything. Have tried changing what you eat, instead of dieting? So switching meal types, instead of eating less, i.e. swapping the two pasties for two eggs on two slices of toast? I'm going to follow my own advice, my diet is rubbish at the moment.

Limegreens · 07/05/2021 16:32

Are you uncomfortable at your weight?
I've put on a 10 pounds of weight during lock down and feel so uncomfortableSad
