@pinkplantpotspot The women on my maternal side are all chunky. We all eat far too much and exercise far too little. My paternal side i'm not sure about.

@OneRingToRuleThemAll I'd love to be a BMI of around 22 so around 12 stone. I am 5'6.

@BrokenDishwasher despite not being comfortable with my size in general, I am more than happy to strip off to a swimming costume, strappy dresses when on holiday. I would wear a swimming costume over here too but I would swerve the strappy dresses and skirts. I find there's hostility to fat people over here a lot more than where I holiday abroad.

@BrokenDishwasher Also want to say don't be afraid to flaunt whatever you want!

Were you big as a child? Have you always been big?

EnglishRain · 03/05/2021 19:41

Do you get your cholesterol checked and try to keep your heart healthy despite your weight?

My brother recently died of heart failure. He was 33. He was technically obese but had done so well managing his weight. It looks like he had some signs of heart failure but nobody had realised given his age.

PasstheBucket89 · 03/05/2021 19:41

as someone in a similar weight bracket why do people irl and online ask about bloody sex.... perverts HmmConfused
ive had that irl, its just so creepy and wrong.

Ive just had my 3rd child, it got made the same way as every other baby is concieved!

Question : do you think therapy would help with the weight issues in terms of the comfort eating?
(thinking this myself)

UCOinanOCG · 03/05/2021 19:44

You would need to be around 10 st to have a bmi of 22 not 12 st. I know this. I am 5'6" too!

PlantDoctor · 03/05/2021 19:45
@everythingcrossed I hate it but it seems like a constant vicious circle of comfort eating because of the mental health issues I have. I so wish I was 12 stone and 'normal' looking.

@SnarkyBag Yes, it does worry me. I often find I get out of breath easily and if I have been running for a bus or climbing a few flights of stairs for example, I have this feeling in my chest that it really tenses up and is painful and almost makes me spasm with the pain. I don't know what it is and it's not everytime.

@Cactusowl Most days, no. I do swim and do other exercise though but mostly not.
The tight feeling in your chest sounds like it could be angina. Please do speak with your Dr about it. Flowers

@MorrisZapp and @kayakingmum

A few months ago I was eating really healthily and dropped a few stone. I've put a few stone on with some stressful situations that have come up so here goes;

Fucking hell, i'm so embarrassed to admit this but

Morning: McDonalds breakfast (mcmuffin meal and 4 hash browns - OMG) and a pancake meal if I am WFH. If in the office I grab 2 pasties from Greggs. Disgusting, I know. The other day I had two pasties, a bag of crisps and a mini cake loaf.

Lunchtime: Can be anything from pasta to sausage and chips to McDonald's again if WFH. Office is usually a chicken salad or a healthy vegan burrito and yoghurt.

Tea: Takeaway very regularly, which consists of a curry, rice, samosas, lamb chops. It's a lot. Another tea can be baked potato with lashings of coleslaw and cheese. Another favourite is sausage, mash and lots of gravy.

Snacks inbetween: scones, cakes, chocolate.

I have put so much weight on the past few months I can physically tell and I have started to get epic 'back fat' which I have never had before. It's dire.

Thank you for answering so honestly, Rainbow. A follow-up question: how do you feel about the body positive movement which celebrates larger women?

I was NOT asking to be ‘pervy’ - I wouldn’t dream of asking in another section but this is AMA.

I am interested as I’ve struggled after gaining weight in pregnancy.

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 19:52

@PickAChew and @AlmostSummer21 I feel I need to shock myself into action. Big is definitely not beautiful! It affects me so negatively. It's affecting my fertility and still I am eating more than ever! I'm a dick to myself! I could used to know when to stop eating when I was full but lately I haven't. I have eaten and eaten and don't seem to know my stop point anymore.

OP posts:
TableFlowerss · 03/05/2021 19:53

How much do you eat (what do you eat) on a typical day?

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 19:54

@iamverytired if I am defending comments made to me (for example an ex commented on my weight) and I blame it on hormones from endometriosis which is total shit. I just overreat and barely exercise.

@vodkaredbullgirl Who knows? Who cares?

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 03/05/2021 19:55

Have you got a plan to resolve your weight?

Do you have a compulsion to eat?

Atalune · 03/05/2021 19:56

Can you cook?

Vinto · 03/05/2021 19:57

Have you/would you consider weight loss surgery?

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 19:59

@Lemonelderflower You've asked a great question despite what a poster further down thread has said.

It doesn't affect my sex life at all!!! I love sex and i'm quite confident in the bedroom. Hasn't always been that way especially when I was thin and young! Positions aren't a problem and I'm quite flexible.

Having said this, there was a time recently when I was with a rather thin gentleman and I felt really self conscious. He didn't bat an eyelid but when I laid on my side and my excess belly was splaid (even under a top I was wearing throughout DTD!) I felt truly ashamed and it's been on my mind since.

TunstallTansy · 03/05/2021 19:59

How do you afford all the takeaway food?

PatchworkElmer · 03/05/2021 19:59

No questions OP, just hope you’re able to get this sorted if you want to.

roguetomato · 03/05/2021 20:00

Why are you doing this? Do you want sympathy? I don't get the purpose of this thread at all.

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 20:01

@SnarkyBag For me to take responsibility and eat less and exercise more. It's that plain and simple. I struggle with MH issues and reach for food as a comfort. It has to stop though!

OP posts:
tinseloatcake · 03/05/2021 20:02

how close do you live to mcdonalds? could you move?

RainbowBriteUk · 03/05/2021 20:03

@altlife Definitely comfort eating following traumatic break ups, job losses, health etc. It's a vicious circle.

@AlmostSummer21 I suppose to tell everyone to really watch their weight. Being fat is a miserable existence. I think it can also make an interesting topic.

OP posts:
HelloMissus · 03/05/2021 20:04

Are you getting help with your MH issues?
That seems like the first priority right?
