Selfishly, I hope it doesn't deter her as I find her words encouraging.

I was absolutely flippin fumin to read that this morning. Surely to goodness someone somewhere has got to realise what a shitshow this is and make it stop. A flippiin academic! A law academic at that, talking about points of law, is targeted this way is horrific. Are these people even human? What on earth is happening in our academic places of learning?

It is appalling - that she was hiding behind bushes on her own campus because she was concerned for her physical safety. Yesterday I was feeling so positive but this really being home how deep the misogyny is in our society.

And the grief she is getting from our academics too - Goldsmiths Natacha Kennedy and SH.

Hypnotizz - agree - she is absolutely inspirational. So brave, clear and humane. And Dr Jane Claire Jones who's getting abuse from Sally Hines on Twitter and Prof Stock who similarly gets abuse from her students etc. Prof Freeman seems to get it worst though - wonder if some is because she's Jewish or if it's the culture at Reading that is particularly pernicious?

The leadership at these institutions really need to make a stand (and those harbouring abusive academics like Goldsmiths) and make it clear that perpetrators of these attacks will not be tolerated.

I can't think of any other scenario in which such behaviour would be going under the radar?

A male student (not Reading student apparently) came up to her after a lecture and openly said (knowing her background) that she was a nazi who deserved to be raped. It's such self righteous misogyny in full sight that's so worrying about all this. These men feel entitled to do this and they seem to be correct in their self entitled assumption that nothing will happen to them as a result. I hope they are wrong.

It is inexcusable. And putting Freedman in the position of either enduring the odor til facility management cleans it up, and the public shaming that comes with it, when everyone walking by smells it, or cleaning it up herself - just vile.

Even if this was happening to someone with genuinely abhorrent views, it would still be inexcusable. If this was happening to Tommy Robinson or someone, I would still find it disgusting. Nobody deserves this!

I've been coming slowly to the conclusion that TRAs are creating a "better" category of women. They are pushing female people out and under. They're simply gatecrashing and colonising the category "woman".

Their experiences and lives are in no way the experiences and lives of women. I think most of them are aware of this. Couple that with the malignant narcissism so prevalent among transactivists and you have a recipe for misogynistic bullying. These male people (and their male allies) are overjoyed to have a group of women they can abuse with impunity, and the power over their female allies that they are walking on eggshells around these neo women and don't dare to step out of line (and yes I've seen this).

I know people have said this before, but I didn't see what they meant as clearly as I do now. Sadly I can't share the example which finally made it click for me as it might put me.
