Absolutely shocked (and wasn’t sure I still could be) by her thread this morning about the abuse she’s endured, including acts of physical intimidation, covert bullying and vandalism. twitter.com/GoonerProf/status/1070158128837246977?s=20 Fuckers.

One of the questions last night was from a trade union rep who suggested that our unions were letting us down, but that dissent within them was strong. I don’t know if Rosa is a member of a trade union, but many of us are and are increasingly concerned about the lack of support from them for their GC members. Knowing how woke they are has discouraged some academics from coming forward. But UCU should be supporting her and all its members.

The fact that a number of GC critical women have come to the movement via trade unions makes this all the more galling.

Re women MPs - all of them should be ashamed but Jess f*cking self confessed feminist Philips - where the hell is she on this?

She sits on the woman and equalities committee - she knows this is all going on! She is complicit.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 05/12/2018 20:14

The Left appalls me (and there's no one else to vote for)

This whole thing has made me so angry today.

This seems to have woken quite a few people up on Twitter. It’s a relief to see how negatively it is viewed by non-partisan people (as well as by us on here obviously). Poor Rosa, she seems tough but no one should have to endure this.

How can the TRAs not see how counterproductive their actions are? Seems that the prospect of intimidating and belittling a woman is just too tempting - any idea of tactics goes out of the window.

I know Jemina. I think I’ll be spoiling my ballot at the next election for the first time in my life.

HouseOfMouse · 05/12/2018 20:42

I find this whole thing horrifying, really chilling. I’m glad James Kirkup has brought it to a wider audience and I really hope the University investigate this properly (though I’m sceptical that they will). While there are the usual idiots on Twitter insinuating that Prof Freedman did something to “deserve” this treatment (FFS) or that trans women have it so much worse than “cis” women (FFS), the majority do seem to understand how sinister things have become. I hope Prof Freedman is OK.

lucydogz · 05/12/2018 20:50

As i've said, if we all tweeted the members of the women and Equalities. Or any mp. Perhaps they might respond.

lucydogz · 05/12/2018 20:53

Jess f***g Phillips. Friend of women. Was on This Week last Thursday. Her moment of the week was that mp with hiv standing up. Lots of brownie points there. And me shouting at the TV 'what about women Jess?'

rightreckoner · 05/12/2018 21:00

Adrian Lester has retweeted Rosa’s thread. I’m pathetically grateful to him.

Where the FUCK are the other men?

rightreckoner · 05/12/2018 21:01

Not a lesbian but really not sure why not tbh Angry

Waterparc · 05/12/2018 21:06

Bumping.

This has been on my mind.

lucydogz · 05/12/2018 21:07

Where the fuck are the Left? Especially women MPs on the left?

ToeToToe · 05/12/2018 21:13

Solidarity Rosa Thanks

ToeToToe · 05/12/2018 21:16

The Left has let women down atrociously. They have allowed misogyny to fester and grow unchecked. I think it has always been there, under the surface, by this has allowed it to come out into the open - carte blanche to abuse any woman who wishes to uphold her personal boundaries in any way.

Theswaggyotter · 05/12/2018 21:23

This is horrendous and I hope more people are compelled to speak out against this kind of terrorism against women.

I’m sorry Rosa that you are suffering so much for speaking the truth Flowers

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 05/12/2018 21:26

Someone tweeted something earlier that summed it up for me (can't find it sorry) - it basically said that we live in a world where we ban the song 'baby, it's cold outside' [FFS] yet let male rapists into women's prisons

This for me is what Woman's Hour (I appreciate they've covered it now but it's post GRA and clearly with kid gloves - Jane G was brilliant given the content but she audibly had palpitations whenever the blooming obvious was pointed out [thank you Dr Nic etc]), the Guardian and 'feminist' MPs have been doing.

Concerning themselves about relative trivialities (the cultural significance of lipgloss, wolf whistling etc) whilst the biggest fecking heist on women's rights in 100 years has been going on in plain sight

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 05/12/2018 21:27

'Context' not 'content'

Katvonblackdeath · 05/12/2018 21:37

Rosa I'm so upset for you. So upset.
Flowers

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 05/12/2018 21:57

I'm intrigued to know exactly what details Reading University need to know before they say anything further! And the events are "alleged" by one of their tenured professors - are they really suggesting she is making it up? Are they really unable to find pissing on her door, and threatening to rape and kill her? Really?!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 05/12/2018 22:03

It's on the BBC website now..

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 05/12/2018 22:15

Goodness! That's pretty hard hitting from the woke 'handle anything trans with kid gloves' BBC

Good. Maybe finally people are starting to wake up

rightreckoner · 05/12/2018 22:28

Yes that feels like a major change on tone from the BBC.

Although they were at pains to quote the academic who says that Rosa has never said anything transexclusionary. I mean heaven forbid that any woman should actually want to exclude Transwomen from anything like their changing rooms or hospital wards or from the meaning of the word woman. I mean that really would be terrible and wrongthink.

arranbubonicplague · 05/12/2018 22:32

James Kirkup on Rosa Freedman:

MPs and ministers have – quite rightly – taken time and trouble to debate and address the wholly unacceptable abuse and discrimination that transgender people sadly face all too often. In that, they were doing their jobs, representing the interests of people who need someone to speak for them.

Will that happen in the case of Rosa Freedman? Will MPs do their job and ensure that she can do hers without urine on her door and calls in the night telling her she should be raped and killed? Don’t bet on it. After all, she’s only a woman, and who cares about them? Who speaks for them?

HerFemaleness · 05/12/2018 22:36

I have such incredible admiration for Rosa Freedman. She continues despite this abuse.
