Shocking bullying of gender critical law professor (Rosa Freedman)

Absolutely shocked (and wasn’t sure I still could be) by her thread this morning about the abuse she’s endured, including acts of physical intimidation, covert bullying and vandalism. twitter.com/GoonerProf/status/1070158128837246977?s=20 Fuckers.

Adrian Harrop and Joss Prior are both on Twatter casting (unsubtle, self-satisfied) doubt on Rosa’s account. Why the fuck would a law professor of all people make up something that could so obviously be found out if untrue? I bloody despair of the lot of them.

Transgender is a protected characteristic in law.
Yet they want more.

Change the law and the protected characteristic of being female will not be possible to enforce.

Did they muster up this scepticism about the stickers with razor blades urban myths?

Or ask a close chum of theirs for proof of alleged harassment?

If so, carry on being even-handedly sceptical, chaps - albeit without considering sources.

ProfessionalBarren · 08/12/2018 12:12

I’d forgotten how wholeheartedly Harrop swallowed the razor blade nonsense. When he writes such utter bollocks, I don’t understand how the bit of his brain clearly intelligent enough to gain a medical degree doesn’t just explode.

The 2nd hour SNP discussion seem to centre around trans having to disclose their real biological sex on the census.
They fear this will 'out' them and violate their human rights.

Years ago I worked on delivering and collecting the census.
There have always been people who are reluctant to complete it because they believe it will be used against them.
The reasons for the census and way the data is used (not used) have always been made clear.

Yet again, the trans-lobby seem to be able to extract unique dispensations.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 08/12/2018 12:55

Yes, R0wantrees, I can imagine there are a lot of people who are suspicious and think big brother is watching them! Surely allowing one group to opt out of the bits that upset them would cause other people to ask why they couldn't also. I foresee vast numbers of Scots deciding to be non binary if this goes through "just because".

It makes a nonsense of the whole thing if it's all about making respondents feel good.

R0wantrees · 08/12/2018 13:00

Yes, R0wantrees, I can imagine there are a lot of people who are suspicious and think big brother is watching them!

It was an interesting experience!

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 08/12/2018 13:20

I can imagine! Reminds me of the time I did polling duty. There were two stations split alphabetically and an older (poss worse for wear) gent came to ours in error. When we told him he needed to vote across the corridor, he eyed us suspiciously and said "why? Are yous the Tories?"

PineappleSunrise · 08/12/2018 13:24

I have never been able to understand why the fight is to preserve a society that would react negatively to someone being "outed" as being trans. Surely the whole point is to keep driving towards a society that doesn't give a shit about what you're wearing or what stereotypes you do/don't adhere to?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 08/12/2018 13:32

That's not the point, the point is the opposite to have a society so constricted into sterotypes your Gender changes based on clothes you ware.

Thingybob · 08/12/2018 13:42

Well done Rosa you were brilliant with that submission. I'm blown away with your intelligence and clarity and watching the way you conduct yourself it's unbelievable that anyone could ever class you a 'hate figure'

The 2nd hour SNP discussion seem to centre around trans having to disclose their real biological sex on the census.

I think Joan McAlpine was already fairly GC but the awakening of so many other SMPs was a delight to watch. Great to hear some of their 'bigoted' and 'transphobic' questioning e.g. talking about 'ordinary women' or asking 'How do you live as a particular sex?'

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 08/12/2018 14:22

My favourite was the Philip Bunce question. I could watch that on a loop...

Bubonicpanic · 08/12/2018 14:25

Fascinating, really worth watching the you tube.

Bubonicpanic · 08/12/2018 15:42

Tim Hopkins is steeped in sexism. As far as he is concerned women are discriminated against not because they are the reproductive class. It's because we are perceived as women and this is identical to men who cross dress. He describes living as a sex is people using pronouns. Why is this disturbingly sexist old man pontificating on what a Fucking woman is.

(see you tube link upthread)

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 08/12/2018 15:50

Agree Bubonic, he said that he was perceived as a man when people met him. So he knows that women and men are treated differently, but rather than that being a cause of concern - because it indicates structural sexism - it validates his bogus gender politics.

Again it was fantastic to see him being picked up "so is it all about clothes then?"

ErrolTheDragon · 08/12/2018 15:58

So the 'logic' there is 'women are discriminated against ... because we are perceived as women '

Riiight.

Bubonicpanic · 08/12/2018 16:21

They come across as people that have disappeared up their own drainpipe.

Valentine could not see how shitty it is to say that women should never have single sex rights to jobs but trans people should be allowed an exemption to make what they want trans only.

Katvonblackdeath · 08/12/2018 17:11

I think Rosa has deleted her Twitter...Am I right? I kind of feel glad. She could do with a break from all this. She's done enough.

She's so brave and strong. Rosa Flowers

WrathofbubonicKlop · 08/12/2018 19:23

he said that he was perceived as a man when people met him
Yes, and trans women are often perceived as men as well.
Funny that.

On the other hand,
"She said that she was perceived as a woman when people met her".

I wonder why that is.

WrathofbubonicKlop · 08/12/2018 19:29

On the other hand
She said that she was perceived as a woman when people met her

To be clear, I made up that bit.

boatyardblues · 08/12/2018 20:10

I watched the first hour of Rosa and Sue’s testimony. They were a good team, but Rosa was so good. I was really interested to hear what she said about the single sex provisions in Maltese and Irish self-ID laws that were retained in some settings.

heresyandwitchcraft · 08/12/2018 20:53

Watching that video. Amazing performance by Prof Freedman. My heart breaks for her still. Susan Smith was great, too.
The transactivist second team......
So obfuscating. Argued against sex-exemptions, and then when called out on what they mean try to dance around the hard questions.
It's clear they never get challenged.

heresyandwitchcraft · 08/12/2018 21:39

My favourite was the Philip Bunce question. I could watch that on a loop...

YES!!!!!!!!!!

(Also, Rosa and Susan were SO much more charming.)

boatyardblues · 08/12/2018 22:00

How far in is the Bunce question?
