Grin merci, or given last few posts - большое спасибо!

botemp · 20/01/2022 09:05

Or 감사합니다 (gahm-sa-hab-ni-da), useful for when Flo gets abducted.

Thanks Name, I remember now reading that cotton deteriorates in leather, makes perfect sense, of course.

I've seen the Instagram post now, yeah it makes more sense although I'm getting annoyed at her lack of pressing as she goes (or not using a pressing ham) 🧐 I still think drafting a trouser block and then a pattern makes more sense but this is probably a better alternative than trying to make pattern adjustments flat on the pattern when none of that really makes sense to you. I've seen the Claire Schaeffer Vogue trousers pattern hailed as a great pair of trousers but it's on the formal side.

Floisme · 20/01/2022 09:22

I've only just worked out the thread title Grin Very honoured, thank you.

What does 감사합니다 mean?I'll be in enough trouble without saying the wrong thing.

Floisme · 20/01/2022 09:24

bani thanks for that Instagram link on the last thread.

botemp · 20/01/2022 09:36

It means thank you (formal) Flo.

Morning, maids! Greetings from the far west... I am not one for sewing, though the concept appeals so the pattern talk has left me bemused!
It must be close to time for Elle, so sending best wishes to she and her family. And meanwhile, I'm awaiting delivery of a new bag, but not woven; this one comes from here and is the mid-size Alex... in burgundy. Posh frock shop stocks them, but only the largest size and she never discounts handbags, so taking this route gives me more colour choice and a sale price.

Voltefarce · 20/01/2022 13:31

Hi all. Place marking the new thread.

banivani · 20/01/2022 13:42

I like the strap on the Alex bag, Xing. Provided the length is perfect for you of course ;) but I like the simplicity of the design of it.

Last thread Bo brought up the house I linked to once with a toilet in the living room. Today I'm browsing houses for sale and found this gorgeous place. Was admiring the quaintness and lovely wallpaper when I noticed the two toilets in the bathroom Grin www.lansfast.se/till-salu/villa/uppsala/tierp/tierp/langkyan-305/cmvilla55ujmqh4k8aeiqha/#showImages

안녕하십니까 (An·nyong·ha·sim·ni·kka)!

You are a genius at naming threads Bo… although I have to admit I got the Flo reference on it, but not quite fully the maids or cos part of it Blush

Full points for that bag xing , great choice. If I was on a bag buying mood I would probably be tempted.
Wasn’t someone thinking of a bag ? Brick size? That might fit the bill?

I was remembering Elle too! due date must be soon !

microbius · 20/01/2022 15:00

Greetings on the new thread. xing great bag, I love the strap going through the lid of the bag

bani previous owners must have had twins who wanted a poo at exactly the same moment? :D

Thanks for posting the link to the Russian pattern shop!

I wanted to share my experiences of Studio Nicholson which I stumbled upon the other day. The clothes is of such amazing beauty - th fabric, the cut- it is almost painful (in a good way). The skirt attached is cut in a very thick coat wool and panels are cut on a diagonal + a curve at the bottom, the panels are separated from at mid thigh level. It is a thing of beauty. The short coat from the same fabric from these great folds at the back.

I admired all their clothing and then went away. It could be kind of affordable if one bought one item on sale every half a year without buying any other [crap] in between but it just feels it would require serious adjustment of my wardrobe if not my life

I also have to report that all Grenson shoes went back. Either the size was off or the fit was too chunky. It might be worth waiting for new Russel & Bromley chunky loafer.

red I was after a brick size bag; but I want a cross body one. I am thinking of
this one
It is a midi size, so good size-wise although I am not sure about the curve

Redandblue11 · 20/01/2022 15:08

Grin those house photos for sale are a gem bani

botemp · 20/01/2022 15:10

Yes Elle and Time's babies must be due or already here. I've already named them Phoebe and Celine (you're welcome) and lo behold Bani has found them some nice toilets.

If you get that house I'll make you a twee sign saying, "The couple that shits together, stays together" Halo

Is that an actual house or a summer house btw?

The large Alex bag looks to be a more classic take on the Céline All Soft bag (sadly discontinued, it's on my list). The smaller size you got looks nice too, like the colour Xing. Hope it delivers in the flesh.

Red, the maids bit is from a hunting shop link Faustina shared, and Flo's been raiding the schoolboys blazers. And we were all due a cancelling.

OP posts:
microbius · 20/01/2022 15:17

I just realised you CAN actually carry red's bag across the body. Impressive. Better start saving

microbius · 20/01/2022 15:17

not red's, xing's bag, sorry

XingMing · 20/01/2022 16:32

Bani, I know the length is right because it's the same as the bigger bag, and that's perfect. And Naledi's quality is excellent. Thanks for all the approval everyone. I was tempted by the orange, and the kelly green (because I am a sucker for colourful bags) but I really need versatile to go with navy, grey and black, plus occasional marron and tan stuff and the burgundy ticks all those. First new bag in four years so not too extravagant but it's going to have to be great to beat the £18 Parfois Gemini bag which I found after bo recommended the website. Still regretting not buying it in orange/olive colour too!

Perfect baby names for Elle and Time! Who gets which name?

botemp · 20/01/2022 19:17

Parfois, ah that takes me back. That must have been thread one or two, everyone started buying the fur stole I briefly mentioned and subsequently freaked me out.

With my limited knowledge of the Australian and Irish accents and how those names would sound there I'd say Phoebe for Elle and Celine for Time.

OP posts:
XingMing · 20/01/2022 20:34

The fur stole was lovely, just not for my life.... but the gemini bags were genius and have worn much better than you predicted; it was admired this afternoon. I even bought another for a friend in Australia who liked it when she visited three/four years ago. Then they discontinued it, which I feel was a serious error. It has been the PERFECT everyday errand and dog walking bag. I'd still buy another one.

Agree on the baby name allocation!

CatherineMaitland · 21/01/2022 12:35

Bani's house is practically my dream house, apart from the odd bathroom furniture. Lovely.

Hello all, I lost you for a bit.

SeaRabbit · 21/01/2022 15:26

Lurker here, to warn about Kate Sheridan bags.

I bought one, the deep green colour of which which I loved but after about a year it's changed to more of a deep olive at the front but not the back. Still a nice colour, but not what I had wanted, and of course the patchiness is Not Impressive. They said they warn that the colours may change, but this is too much IMHO.
Maybe black would be stable. They are good quality leather, and well-made.

microbius · 21/01/2022 21:12

@SeaRabbit Thanks for your advice! Can I ask you if yours closes with magnets or poppers and if with magnets, if it is safe enough in a sense that you don't keep checking if it opened on transport, etc

I have doubts about the bag, but unfortunately having bought something in a shop in the spur of the moment and having returned it, I have a gift card and I can't see what else I can spend it on. Do you like the bag other than the colour issue?

botemp · 22/01/2022 07:40

Coucou, Catherine hope all is well with you Smile

Thanks for the heads up SeaRabbit, sounds like the leather isn't dyed through completely just applied on the surface(s). That's quite an economising move, I'd never heard of the brand but will definitely avoid.

Bo, you're responsible for a lot of things. My first trip to the Marais, a meal at L'As du Falafel, my purchase of the fur stole, which I still wear, in spite of now living in rural France!

I've been lurking here since the beginning but my lifestyle and wardrobe is very far from Parisian, but this thread is a vicarious pleasure. At least I get to visit a few times a year and wear "real" clothes.

botemp · 22/01/2022 09:06

I think I vaguely remember that, weren't you there solo, I think there was a conference involved? Or maybe I'm mixing you up with someone else, I remember someone going with their child at one point as well. Regardless, I hope my recommendations were useful to you then.

I prefer Pitzman over L'As these days, proper Israeli and a lot easier to get a table. Would be great to just pop over some 🧆🥙

TwoBlondes · 22/01/2022 10:08

You have a frighteningly good memory! I think I also PMd you under a different name about Uniqlo Amsterdam 😬

Thanks for the recommendation. I spent Christmas alone in Paris and actually got pinged after eating at L'As, but not until three weeks later.

Keep up the good work, everyone, I live in the region of the nylon housecoat but it's good to dream!
