Awesome!
I love to shop at Ann Taylor and the LOFT when I'm in Canada. They do a great sale and now ship to the UK

Great quality. Ann Taylor is more everything and LOFT is more work wear.

The petite ladies at work always like when I wear her pieces.

5' 3" & Size UK10 (US 6) 😁👍

OhRosalind · 10/10/2020 10:11

Ooh this is exciting. 5’2” here, size 6-8, legs are almost normal but torso is absurdly short.

French and Italian brands are worth looking at, especially if you are small generally and not just short. I have recently purchased a Maje dress, and belted coat and jumpsuit from Rouje. The bust and waist are in the right place without needing alterations. Petit Bateau linen tees and cotton vests are just the right length on me too instead of at my knees. Sézane comes up much bigger but their 7/8 length jeans are perfect ankle-skimming length on me.

I’ve discovered that Madewell and Reformation (also a bit spendy) do petite ranges if you’re totally fed up of Topshop.

Sooverthemill · 10/10/2020 10:42

Yay! Thank you

Got this yesterday, comes to just above my knee. Looks great. Am 5ft 1, size 12

VictoriaBun · 10/10/2020 10:46

I'm in ! 4 ft 11 (and a bit !)
Annoyed that some short / petite lengths are too long for me so looking forward to getting ideas of brands .

TooMinty · 10/10/2020 11:48

Thanks @popularinthe80s!

Hello fellow shortarses 😊

My DH has talked me out of the Abercrombie and Fitch Sherpa lined cardigan on the basis that it's too pale and I'm too clumsy (and I drink red wine). So still looking...

TooMinty · 10/10/2020 12:58

That's a lovely looking down jacket Lou
I bought a very expensive North Face one about 2 years ago, can't justify another one for a few more years!

Ifonlyiweretaller · 10/10/2020 13:18

Great idea! My name suggests I should be allowed to join your gang :)

My local Sainsbo's has suddently got a small petite section - I got a nice (although very polyester) animal print blouse and I love it! Just checked website but its not on gthere, although quite a decent selection of trousers/jeans.

I've just made my annual leggins purchase from Mint Velvet, the fit and quality is great. And they had pleather leggins too so I've ordered some of those to try. Not sure of sizing as have lost a bit of weight since last Winter, so trying various. I like that they do a lot of their trousers in a short length.
DP's have quite a good selection too.

NearWildHeaven · 10/10/2020 14:03

Woop!! Hello to my fellow short-of-stature posters. I’m 5 feet, size 8-10 (depends on where it is!) and just about a 3 in shoe size

Looking forward to getting some intel and suggestions here from others who know the pain of having to double up on a cuff!

And neatly following on from the poster above I bought this denim shirt dress from my local Sainsbury’s this week. Hoping to wear with leggings over the winter.

Sainsbury’s petite

Hi, can I join? Great idea for a thread.
I’m 5’1”. Size 12-14 at the moment but desperately trying to shed the stone I’ve piled on this year.
I’ve mainly resorted to M&S short length trousers & shortening skirts. Sleeves are a pain but jumpers & cardigans I mostly knit myself so can lop a few inches off the sleeves as I go. A problem I find with bought blouses & tops comes from having very narrow shoulders but a 36GG bra size so if the front will fasten they hang off the shoulders & if shoulders fit they’re tight across the chest. Coats are a similar problem.

dameofdilemma · 10/10/2020 15:47

Mango has been my saviour for work clothes. H&M and New Look for other stuff. Uniqlo if the XXS is available.
Reiss occasionally too since they adjusted their sizes.

A good seamstress for other formal stuff.

Much as I’d love to shop at Whistles, &Other Stories, Arket etc, their sizes are just too big.

nickEcave · 10/10/2020 15:55

Hello fellow short people. 4 foot 11 size 12-14 here. Trousers are generally OK as I just accept I have to lop around 10cms of the bottom before I can wear them. Tops are a problem as I have an hourglass figure so need to show my waist to avoid looking like a weeble but I'm also ridiculously short waisted so tucking-in doesn't work. I tend to wear above the knee shift or a-line dresses which is fine for work but I feel overdressed now I work from home all the time.

purpleme12 · 10/10/2020 16:06

Going to placemark here cos could be useful

purpleme12 · 10/10/2020 16:13

.... I always go for Dorothy Perkins jeans Petite section

AutumnNymph · 10/10/2020 16:17

Hello, can I join? I am 5.2 - size 8 and size 3.5 shoes,

Second a PP suggestion of Ann Taylor.

Ynwa12345 · 10/10/2020 16:18

I am 5 foot but have enormous feet?! Size 7 it's bizarre. The only place I have found got coats and jackets is Next petite range but size up! Perfect on the short arms!! Thanks for creating the thread x

Dobbi03 · 10/10/2020 16:27

Oh good thread, I'm 5ft and a size 6. My teenage daughter is hoping she is going to be taller than me. Shes 4ft11 and also a size 6 though she is a 30f bust and hates it. I discovered sainsbury's petite last year and have a few pieces of clothing from there. I've had some good bargains from quiz petite section and also misguided.

DrEllie · 10/10/2020 16:31

Hi. Almost (!) 4' 11" UK size 8 feet are a tiny size 2. My 10 year old is bigger than I am

thefemaleJoshLyman · 10/10/2020 16:35

5ft 1in here and size 10. Can i join too? I've recently bought some Hobbs petite for work but mainly use Next or Boden. Get annoyed with shopping! Grin

nixso29 · 10/10/2020 16:53

Fellow shorty here joining in at 4ft 11 and 3/4 and size 10-12, large of bust and bum but small of waist. I really struggle with those smock style midi dresses I really like them but just can't seem to get the right fit without making me look like I'm wearing a grannies nightdress! If anyone has any recommendations I would be forever grateful!

Doubleyikes · 10/10/2020 17:06

Oooh can I join too. 5’ here and size 12

I mainly shop in GAP petites, Uniqlo, Muji, Topshop petite, ASOS petite ( but not much from there as a lot of the range looks targeted at teens/20s. I got a lovely dark blue pea jacket last year in Debenhams which was petite and fits really well. Also a knee length down coat from Hobbs which is perfect on the sleeves, shoulders and for length.

I haven’t heard of Ann Taylor and didn’t know Sainsbury’s did petites either. The jeans and trousers in M&Ss short sizes are way too long for me. I’m sure they’ve made them longer than they were. I wouldn’t have known they were short if they’d not said so on the label. I’ve given up looking there now.

Seasalt petite fit me really well too. Got a gorgeous pair of dungarees that looked tailor made for me. I think they were called Metalcraft.

Tallesttiptoes · 10/10/2020 17:13

Checking in! I am 5 ft, size 10. Trying not to buy too much this winter but always looking for good recommendations for brands that don’t swamp me. Thanks for starting the thread!

DaVinyl · 10/10/2020 17:47

Online retailers like ASOS and Zalando have massive petite ranges. You can select petite from the filters. free delivery and returns too.
