Long cardigan for short person

TooMinty · 03/10/2020 19:13

My lovely cosy Fatface cardigan has gone bobbly after 5 years of faithful service. I would like a cardigan that is bum to mid thigh length (bearing on mind I am 5 ft tall). Probably grey, black or charcoal. Extra points if it has a hood.

H&m do lots of long cardigans

TooMinty · 04/10/2020 16:12

I fancy something extra cosy and maybe a bit different looking if possible. But that H&M one is a good back up plan! Has anyone got anything really warm and snuggly but not so long I'll trip over it?

Loft by Ann Taylor in US and Canada does a great petite range incl cardigans.

popularinthe80s · 06/10/2020 07:21

I feel your pain.

I've just bought this. It looked great on the tall Gap model. But in the flesh, it's very chunky - too chunky - and overwhelms my short frame.

www.gap.co.uk/gap/true-soft-cardigan/000592758.html?dwvar_000592758_color=000592758003&dwvar_000592758_fit=regular&cgid=1076071#prefn1=gapIncBaseColor&prefv1=Blue&start=5

Sorry, not helpful but in cardie solidarity.

TooMinty · 06/10/2020 21:39

Yes I hate it when I see something lovely online then I read the description and it says "model is 5'10" and wearing size S". So will be about 10" too long on me then! If I find anything promising I'll post a link.

That's nice Peachy, I might get it to go with my pleather leggings. But I'm still looking for something even cosier - I live in Scotland and need something to wear while working from home...

You definitely need something marketed as petite. I’ve finally learnt after all these years I’m the same with coats too!

Roodog · 07/10/2020 10:11

I'm 5'2, bought a black longline cosy cardigan from Next recently. It's lovely and cosy, but is quite long on me, might be worth a look.

Roodog · 07/10/2020 10:38

PS it has a hood

TooMinty · 07/10/2020 20:41

Oh that sounds promising Roo will look now.

You're right about the petite sizing Peachy but it does limit choice ☹️

popularinthe80s · 08/10/2020 06:53

Absolutely:-(
Peachy, at the risk of sounding like your stalker, you sound familiar from another 'I'm short but want to look stylish' thread. I wonder if we should set one up?
Don't have to post on it daily, but we could share good/bad finds?

peachypetite · 08/10/2020 07:05

@popularinthe80s that would be great!

peachypetite · 08/10/2020 07:05

@TooMinty yep I know. But I don’t even bother with coats now unless they are the petite version because the sleeves etc just drown me.

popularinthe80s · 08/10/2020 07:35

Peachy and everyone else, shall we do it?
I am a haphazard poster - sometimes post every 5 minutes, sometimes have days/weeks away from MN - but if people are interested, shall we make a thread for petite finds/disappointments/tips?

TooMinty · 08/10/2020 09:15

Yes sleeves are another problem!

I'm up for a short person fashion thread, good idea! 🙂

I am also a Peachy and also petite (5'2") but a curvy 12-14 Grin

I would love a petite thread.

TinkerPony · 08/10/2020 09:28

Yes please thread for petite (curvy too)

TinkerPony · 08/10/2020 09:29

Can u use a cheap razor to shave off the bobbles? Tip i read or saw somewhere

TooMinty · 08/10/2020 13:35

I could give that a go. My worry is it's so bobbly there might be nothing left after 😂

Has anyone bought anything from Abercrombie and Fitch? Have seen very cosy looking Sherpa cardigan but don't know what their sizing is like. No petite option I don't think. And it is cream which is a dangerous colour for clumsy people like me!

Hello, fellow petite here.

I have one A&F jumper and it’s small made. Similar to Superdry if that helps?!

TooMinty · 08/10/2020 13:49

Oh I'm wearing a Superdry sweater right now! Very helpful thanks.

Did the amazing thread for short people get started? I’m hoping I just can’t see it .... 👀

Lougirl · 08/10/2020 23:14

Would love a petite thread! 5ft 1, size 12...
