My fellow vertically challenged people. 5”2 (well actually 5” 1and 3/4). Great thread!

@mena51 We’re the same measurements, nice to hear positives about J Crew & Everlane. I’ve been wanting to try their clothes but have been hesitant.

Just a complaint about Gap, I really like their jeans but don’t understand why they don’t have petites in a UK 2, but you can get regular in a 2 Confused.

Darklane · 11/10/2020 15:33

Minuet are all petit clothes but tend not to be very casual.
A lot of the good petit ranges seem to have gone, Principles Petit, Anne Brooks.
Last time I bought jeans from Matalan, few years ago now though, you could pick the leg length by the inch instead of just “short, regular, long “ which was useful.
I have the same problem with knee length boots, some are too long & hit you in the knee joint, most uncomfortable when you try to walk or sit.

IceniWarrior · 11/10/2020 15:44

I used to have calf length boots but not seen any for a while.

Bagadverts · 11/10/2020 15:52

Great thread. Hello 5”0 here and size 14 trouser 12 top.
I’m looking for new tops, I often go for regular 3/4 sleeves as I’m too fat if arm for petite.

Oh god I never thought of this problem with knee boots! I have longish calves. But of course shorter people are going to need shorter knee boots or they will be impossible to wear.

5ft 1 and UK size 6. Tbh I don't find it that hard to find dresses/ trousers that fit.
But then I guess I have weeded out all the shops where their smallest size is too big. Hobbs is good (though expensive, I buy in the sales).

What I find hard are tops, because they are all too long! I need short tops. Any recommendations for tops? (t-shirts, shirts, jumpers etc).

AuldFox · 11/10/2020 16:30

Dune has some calf length boots darklane

I bought some from Duo as well a few years ago.

StellaGib · 11/10/2020 16:34

Can anyone recommend some comfy, casual petite dungarees?

I had some lovely ones from Sainsburys last year but the buckle snapped! I don't want trendy fashion ones - skinny fit or ripped. Just practical ones for walks in the woods and crawling around on the floor with kids.

Darklane · 11/10/2020 16:44

@AuldFox. Thank you, will take a look.

musicmum75 · 11/10/2020 17:01

I have found my people! I am 4'10" and a 6/8/10 depending on brand and style. Feet are 2.5. I am an apple shape and very short waisted so anything fitted is really difficult for me.

I love DP Petite dresses and Uniqlo in general. I also like Mint Velvet in their smallest sizes. The only trousers I don't have to take up are the M&S shortest ones.

Off to look at the Sainsbury's petite section now!

Fizbosshoes · 11/10/2020 17:04

I find getting boots a bit of a nightmare as well. Like you say standard boots finishing on the knee which is unflattering, uncomfortable and impractical. I've had 2 pairs of DM boots which have been exactly the right length.i kept them for years and just had them well-heeled every couple of years!

Fizbosshoes · 11/10/2020 17:05

Well heeled = reheeled Hmm stupid auto correct!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/10/2020 18:17

Loving this thread, thanks for starting it Smile

I'm 5'2" and a size 8/10 (more a 10 now thanks to my age and lockdown!!) Our local seamstress gets a lot of business from me!

IceniWarrior · 11/10/2020 18:30

I just had some Next petite size 6 dungerees arrive and I think they look nice! Fit lovely.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 11/10/2020 19:30

Id love to be the sort of woman who looks fabulous in dungarees, I fear I rather look like a toddler. There's some styles that just don't translate well to being shrunk.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 11/10/2020 20:19

Sorry - not to say I dont think dungarees look good on shorter ladies, just on me, there's a touch of the (only just) over grown toddler/ cbeebies presenter.

Are these summer or normal dungarees? Next didn't used to fit me really but I know I've put on weight since march (want to lose it) who knows maybe it'll fit me better now...

Yes I cannot pull off dungarees either Sad
Fizbosshoes · 11/10/2020 20:39

I feel I look about 8 wearing dungarees! (I've got some but I just wear them indoors or going for a walk!)

IceniWarrior · 11/10/2020 20:47

They were these. Look nice with a black vest for summer and a polo for winter

TooMinty · 11/10/2020 20:51

I love my dungarees, and I don't care if I look like a giant toddler/minion/70s kids tv presenter... I have Fatface size 6, they are quite spacious. I wear them with the straps shortened as far as they go and legs turned up 3 times.

Ilikeviognier · 11/10/2020 20:56

Great thread! I’m 5ft 2. Uk Size 6.

I’m a big fan of

Boden petite
Dorothy Perkins petite (although I’m 41 now so have to be careful what I buy!)

Don’t regularly buy from the high street as sizes don’t usually work.

Any recommendations are welcome!

littlequestion · 11/10/2020 21:06

Greetings! I'm 4ft 10, size 10, shoe size 3. I find most petite ranges too long - I mean 5ft 3 isn't really small is it?

I buy Gap petite jeans as they actually fit. Just bought a Didriksons girls' winter jacket and spent about 3 hours trying to decide between age 11-12 and 13. Went for the bigger size and hoping it won't swamp me.

purpleme12 · 11/10/2020 21:10

@littlequestion I agree that most petite ranges are too long (at least for bottom half anyway) and to me, 5 foot 3 isn't that short really.

It's interesting that so many things people suggest are only available online, making it harder (to me anyway)

IceniWarrior · 11/10/2020 21:13

I always had a dream to create 'Petite Petite' clothes for the very petite.
