There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

Have they brought supper with them too do you think?

Some lovely noodle soup would be fair exchange for the geraniums...

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 16:53

We are on our own with EKL! KM has taken the first car load of stuff home!

Shameless place mark.

Salmotrutta · 09/08/2014 16:54

But not taken her too?

I wonder why?

This might go on all night you know...

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 16:55

Do you think he'll come back for her today?

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 16:57

Oh no! Maybe you have exchanged the summer house for her! Shock

enormouse · 09/08/2014 16:57

Maybe it's an exchange. KM gets your summerhouse and you get EKL in return?

enormouse · 09/08/2014 16:58

Great minds grunt Smile

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 16:59

INCIDENT!

DS got bored of standing next to her holding her trousers. Bearing in mind she has been here since 11am and not acknowledged DS at all. So he darted towards the site of summerhouse, now down and a big pile of dirt/big nails/splinters/spiders probably, and she caught his hand and said something very stern in Korean and now he is standing next to her and they are tightly holding hands!!

Is she a witch?? If I prevented DS from going anywhere on the boringly pedestrian grounds of "extremely dangerous" he would pitch a fit. Why is he standing so nicely next to her!

"Should also say DS spent the better part of the morning on elderly lady's lap. Just sitting there watching the roof felt being peeled off. She didn't speak to him and he didn't speak to her. Just sat together quite happily!"

I misread this as your dh having spent the better part of the morning on EKL's lap - which would have made an excellent story even better! Grin

I wish I had an elderly Korean lady in my garden and some noodle soup.

LEMmingaround · 09/08/2014 17:02

You do realise Km isn't coming back

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 17:02

Oh OP, you are funny! Grin I'm giggling away at your report of "INCIDENT!" Thanks for the cheer-upping.

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 17:02

Have you got a spare bed for her? She can hardly spend the night on the patio - it's going to be wet and windy tonight.

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 17:04

I just hope EKL isn't wet and windy too!

ohfourfoxache · 09/08/2014 17:04

If you have managed to exchange the summerhouse for EKL then you could rent her out - you'd make a fortune from harassed parents and cat owners everywhere Grin

enormouse · 09/08/2014 17:05

Never let her go Op. She has a gift. You need to keep her around for noodle soup, vermin killing and childcare.

I need to find my own EKL for 2.8 yo DS.

I might be over invested in this thread

TaraRhode · 09/08/2014 17:05

She lives with you now. Shame you don't have a summer house for her to live in.

wheresthelight · 09/08/2014 17:05

Amazing!! Marking place

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 09/08/2014 17:06

Classics Grin

You we desperately want you to neeed to swap numbers with EKL!

KatnissEvermean · 09/08/2014 17:06

I hope you get to keep her. She sounds really useful, much better than a summerhouse.

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 17:07

"You we desperately want you to neeed to swap numbers with EKL!"

No need. She's OP's EKL now.

ValerieTheVodkaFairy · 09/08/2014 17:08

This is the oddest and sweetest thread I have ever read on Mumsnet Grin

It is fabulous

Classics?

Binkybix · 09/08/2014 17:08

Is KM back yet?

ThirdPoliceman · 09/08/2014 17:08

Has he paid in cash? Leaving an elderly lady could be the way they barter in New Maldon!

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 17:11

She's great. I want her. I suspect she is Connected though and if KM doesn't come back that might be the end of him.

Not much to report. She is sitting impassively. DH sweeping up. DS standing next to her, occasionally banging something with hammer. My cat came and had row with next doors cat so they have gone and my cat lying in sun. I am in kitchen watching the action through the glass as still risk of spiders on loose.
