There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

I'm imagining a sideline career for boysclothes.

Running an agency of EKLs and sending them out to frazzled parents, UK-wide.

NormHonal · 09/08/2014 17:12

Fabulous thread .

EKL for Classics!

MysteriousCircusZebra · 09/08/2014 17:13

Place marking. Goodness knows why. But I am intrigued to hear the outcome for some reason Grin

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 17:14

"Running an agency of EKLs and sending them out to frazzled parents, UK-wide."

Bearing oodles of noodles I hope.

flamingtoaster · 09/08/2014 17:15

Wonderful! You must keep in touch with EKL - you have found the perfect babysitter, she might even teach you what it was she said to DS in Korean. That could be really useful in all sorts of situations - you could try it on cold callers for a start.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 09/08/2014 17:15

Ha ha Grunt

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 09/08/2014 17:16

I was going to guess Worcester Park, as I had family there and there was quite a Korean community, but New Maldon's not far.

charmund · 09/08/2014 17:16

Ohhh - can I have an EKL? I bet she'd be brilliant with teenagers - we're not too far from you OP - maybe we could borrow her? We're having noodles for super based entirely on this thread Smile

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/08/2014 17:16

It's a shame I'm not near you. I suspect my DD and the EKL are the irresistible force and the immovable object.

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 17:16

I am not sure KM will be back today. I think he's probably at his house assembling his new summerhouse - or at the very least downloading all the photos he took. That's assuming it's a digital camera and he's not popped to Boots to get them developed....

Unlabelled · 09/08/2014 17:17

Get her address and go over with a deck chair and a picnic to sit in their garden for the re erection snigger of the summerhouse!

HappyAgainOneDay · 09/08/2014 17:18

Please. It's New Malden.

LEMmingaround · 09/08/2014 17:18

You should have left ds with ekl and gone out on your own

OneSkinnyChip · 09/08/2014 17:18

I love this thread :o I want an EKL of my very own :o

Stratter5 · 09/08/2014 17:21

She lives with you now. Shame you don't have a summer house for her to live in.

Grin Grin Grin

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 09/08/2014 17:21

Yes please to EKL agency - I want a granny flat just so I can install her. DD would love a fearless spider-slayer on tap. Korean Mary Poppins with wonderful no-nonsense inscrutable one-liners and bottomless noodle soup.

MyFairyKing · 09/08/2014 17:22

"Get her address and go over with a deck chair and a picnic to sit in their garden for the re erection snigger of the summerhouse!"

Fantastic suggestion. This is the thread that keeps on giving.

enormouse · 09/08/2014 17:22

Exactly grunt. I can see it now.

"Troublesome toddlers, teens or somewhere in between? EKL will meet your needs as well as providing a complimentary pet sitting and pest control service. Pesky individuals needing taking care of? EKL will deal with that too. Every EKL comes with oodles of noodles"

Price on request.

TheFirstOfHerName · 09/08/2014 17:24

Get her address and go over with a deck chair and a picnic to sit in their garden for the re erection of the summerhouse

Please do this. And keep us updated.

WeirdCatLady · 09/08/2014 17:24

I want an EKL, pretty please?

londonrach · 09/08/2014 17:24

Op I'm a neighbour to you...(moves deck chair closer)

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 17:25

That needs pitching to Dragons' Den, enormouse You'll have to take OPs EKL and DS with you, for demonstration purposes.

TSSDNCOP · 09/08/2014 17:25

A spider slayer alone would be most welcome here.

One that can make soup and stop a DS is it's naughty tracks would be like the holy grail.

Make haste OP, get the spare room ready.

Anyone know what connected EKL's need to be comfy?

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 17:27

PMSL at these responses.

KM still not back, although I imagine he is gently and patiently removing every plank from the van and placing it in a particular way according to an amazing preplanned system.

In other news, EKL has been to loo again and accepted glass of water. Next doors cat is in my kitchen although I don't know how he gained ingress. Suspect cat flap trespassing.
