Seriously? majority of people who voted for leave wanted control of our borders, we brought into your story of an Australian style point system now it seems there's still going be freedom of labour movement which is basically the same thing expect they get less legal rights.

I didn't just vote leave for immigration but yes it was a big reason and if I known this, if remain had a better hammered this home I bet MANY leave voters would not have voted the way they did. If anything if this happens, many leave voters will join the remain voters in rage at the lies we been fed. (NHS, Immigration)

I have been a vocal leave supporter on here but now I am feeling pretty scared about what I have voted for. I blame the remain campaign for having an totally shit and ineffective campaign and Cameron should never have been the leader of the remain camp, as majority of people despise him and don't take any notice of what he says.

I blame Leavers for voting on a lifelong decision based on a temporary PM. What is it they keep telling me on FB today - ah yes. "It's done, deal with it".

It was pointed out repeatedly that Norway has to allow freedom of movement in order to access the market despite not being in the EU. Guess it should have been written on the side of a bus.

Er , yes! There were never going to be closed borders. Even if there were it would affect Europeans rather than non EU migration for which controls are already in place.

Yes the most basic of research would have told you that free movement wouldn't be stopped. And now people are upset that they're being called stupid.....

Hold on? You think that other people are responsible for your voting choices?? You had the opportunity to do your homework. You could have read the countless threads on here where people warned that the EU would demand free passage of EU members for trade rights despite our withdrawal from the EU. You didn't.

Don't blame the Remain campaign for your choices.

On top of pp, we've had an 'Australian style points based system' for over 8 years. It's crap and will likely be scrapped at some point.

So yeah...

Free to come and work here - NOT just free to pitch up with the family and start claiming.

Is this a serious post?

Hmm

Right. So when it was repeatedly pointed out that Norway and Switzerland aren't in the EU but have to have free access of movement to access EU markets, this didn't make you stop and think that perhaps closing our borders wouldn't be as simple and easy as all that? Hmm

Eh, if you'd done proper research in the first place you'd have known this. It's your responsibility to research your own political opinions......

And btw, I say that as someone who is happy with a leave vote and someone who knew damn fine freedom of movement would never be affected. Immigration was never the problem for me, I think we've a lot to be thankful to immigration for. And Farage never ever would have had the power to put the money into the NHS, that power lies with a party and leadership he isn't part of.

No bloody wonder leave voters are getting such a bloody bad rap if it's been because of people like you voting the way they did. I'd rather have a win based on good political and realistic grounds than on a bunch of morons who didn't have the brains to find out the facts!!!

You're blaming the remain campaigners for not ramming it down your throat? How about doing your own research rather than being spoon fed.

We still need movement of workers to fuel the economy. That's how it works.

Also the continual trotting out of the Australian system is a joke, when I told my colleagues who are in Australia they almost laughed their arses off. They felt immigration wasn't effectively controlled there either and thought it was hilarious that they were being help up as a shining example.

Seriously hope you are taking the piss.

This was common knowledge to anyone who bothered to read up before they voted. FFS.

Are you blaming Scotland too?

When Brexiteers rubbed their hands together in glee talking about "taking back our country", and proclaiming that the borders would be stronger than ever, many of us pointed out that it wasn't so straightforward and would be unlikely to happen that way. We were told we were negative, trying to keep the status quo for the political elite blah blah blah... But we were right, as is now becoming clear

This was pretty well publicised! Also well EU migrants can't just rock up and claim benefits, there are rules and they do not have the same entitlements as British citizens.

Well, you could always sign the petition to have another referendum - and inform yourself properly before voting!

What a fucking mess.

I do think the Leave campaign misled those who weren't able to see through them. eg the TV ad which suggested the money saved COULD be spent on the NHS. Didn't say it would, just could be. You need to be very vigilant, and DON'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ IN THE PAPERS. Don't know how many times that's been said, but people do believe what they read and most of it's shit.

But you can't blame Remain for this. I knew it wouldn't make much difference in terms of immigration, so the information was definitely out there.

So your fault entirely.

You can't 'join the remain group' because this vote was a one time opportunity. It's not like voting in a general election when you can switch parties before the first one.

If you failed to research the matter fully yourself then that's on you, nobody else.
