Hello! Making a new thread for Flow devotees to continue our yoga together. Any YWA devotees welcome! ( and it doesn’t have to be flow, I will Repeat flow but may also do Center)

OP posts:

Finished Kassandra challenge finally yesterday. My belly has become a tad floaty of late, don’t think I’m up to @Jumbojem core challenge,so it’s likely between Flow ,Centre and Core, suggestions welcome

narniabusiness · 10/04/2024 09:42

I’m currently doing the April playlist on YWA on YouTube. Strength is the theme this month but thankfully there are some meditation and gentler practices in there too. My arms are going to look fabulous after all these planks and such like.

Jumbojem · 11/04/2024 13:34

@Yogachick what did you decide? Maybe Flow again?
I had a few days away with a long drive either side and lots of walking whilst away. I was really desperate for some yoga this a.m. Decided to try "YWA Intermediate power flow (20 mins)" which I'd added to my YouTube playlist. It was a little challenging but no harder than some of the tougher days in her 30 day series, so don't let the title put you off if you want more of a workout one.

Yogachick · 11/04/2024 19:25

Great suggestion @Jumbojem just what I want from my yoga. I did find it tough & heavily modified some of the ab bits( very much my weak spot) but loved it & feel lovely & calm now. It does bug me when a practice is labelled 10/20/30 mins, whatever & it’s actually another 3/4 mins- they ALL seem to do it🙄.Adriene seemed very glam in this one, nice nails, etc, nice to see. So maybe tomorrow I’ll do yoga for swimmers from the calendar at 18 mins as @narniabusiness has mentioned a strength focus. I’m envious of the multiple people who say yoga has transformed their bodies though,as I’ve never had that. Mind you I’ve never even been consistent for a whole month so maybe that’s the key……….

Rummikub · 11/04/2024 23:05

I’ve missed a few but will get back to flow tomorrow.

Is yoga good for BP? I hope so!

Rummikub · 11/04/2024 23:05

As mine is high and I don’t want to up my meds!

ErnestCelendine · 12/04/2024 07:32

I've been jumping around all over the YWA archives but still doing yoga when I can. Posting here to help me get on the daily wagon.
Did the 15 min moon practice yesterday - lovely!

narniabusiness · 12/04/2024 07:49

@Yogachick regarding whether yoga ‘transforms’ your body. The noticeable difference it has made to mine is to eliminate the bingo wings (sorry I hate that term but it makes it clear what I’m talking about).
They appeared over lockdown really. I remember reading that older women had lost a lot of fitness over lockdown because a lot of their day to day exercise came from being out doing the shopping and suchlike. I thought ‘poor dears’ before realizing that was me. While I still went for a walk each day I wasn’t carrying anything and all that upper body strength must have gone. Those planks and downward dogs have made a difference over time

I wouldn’t say I was transformed in any other way. Despite having done lots of abbs work I still have a flabby tummy. 😀

Yogachick · 12/04/2024 09:53

@narniabusiness I still have the bingo wings but I’m up for trying a tad harder for consistency. I did the swimmers yoga this morning. I’m so much nicer when I have a more consistent practice. 2 in a row👏👏👏👏

Rummikub · 12/04/2024 13:56

Sounds Luke consistency is key and I’m rather hit n miss.

Day 15 flow today. Could not do half moon (?)

Yogachick · 12/04/2024 13:59

@Rummikub were all different,I love half moon so am now thinking of doing Flow!

narniabusiness · 12/04/2024 14:03

I do try to manage a session every day unless I’m away on hols or poorly, so I guess that helps. Also I may have been in worse shape to start with so it made more difference to me.

Rummikub · 12/04/2024 15:38

Yogachick · 12/04/2024 13:59

@Rummikub were all different,I love half moon so am now thinking of doing Flow!

It’s funny isn’t it. I’ll have to get a block I think and try again.

I am enjoying flow.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/04/2024 20:30

@narniabusiness I'm also doing the April playlist. I'm a couple of days behind but enjoying it.

@Yogachick DS2 observed a little while ago that I was a nicer person when I was doing yoga regularly. It was when he was in peak sulky teen and I was in peak peri, before I went on HRT so neither of us was very nice at the time.

Yogachick · 13/04/2024 17:36

Day 3 for me. Side Body Flow from Build calendar, even tho I knew I would struggle and did. Both the length of the practice as I’ve only done minis& the whole side plank being tough on core, wrists & shoulders. I do feel sweaty but calm & worked after,I feel I won’t rush back to this one as it was haaaarrrdd but then no challenge no change 🤷‍♀️
interesting observation from son @OhOneOhTwoOhThree it’s not something my family have ever remarked on,bloody unobservant lot! I just know I’m nicer😇when I yoga,I FEEL nicer.

Yogachick · 14/04/2024 10:28

Day 4👏👏👏still on Build as some of the practices to come are looking to be what I like. I am Strong, from Yoga Camp. Well, I’m not but I’m giving it a go!

Jumbojem · 14/04/2024 12:23

Can anyone link to the Build calendar? It sounds interesting but I must have deleted the monthly email and not really read it.
I was running this am and realised how yoga helps me be more flexible and gets rid of injury niggles. The drop in yoga since Jan has become noticeable so I need to get back to more regular, almost daily practice I think.
@Yogachick I haven't noticed any physical differences from yoga but the mental difference I do, I'm much calmer if I start the day with yoga. I also notice I move better in daily life and other exercise if I am flexible. I stiffen up very quickly when I do less yoga sadly.

Yogachick · 15/04/2024 19:30

Day 5- the Psoas one from the calendar. I’m feeling a bit discombobulated today, only did this at 530pm but got it done AND felt better after😁

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/04/2024 20:55

Side body flow for me today. I am trying to work through the calendar in order. If I skip around I end up doing all the shorter ones and forgetting which ones I have and haven’t done.

Jumbojem · 16/04/2024 09:05

Thanks to your recommendations I did the 30 min lower body strength one this morning. Bloody loved it, @OhOneOhTwoOhThree a great one for strengthening those running muscles I thought? My quads were shaking holding those goddess poses but I love the release after some hard work.
Yesterday I did Kassandra 15 min stretch for shoulders as was holding stress there. Another good one that did the job for me.
I'm really looking forward to yoga at the moment and am excited to choose what I'll do next. Lots I'd never have considered in the monthly plan like yoga for swimmers or gardeners. I also added the yoga for abdominal strength to my watch later on YouTube.

Yogachick · 16/04/2024 20:25

Did a metcon workout this morning & planned not to yoga( yup no consistency..) but by this afternoon I was craving my yoga practice. So Day 6 for me was the new lower body one as @Jumbojem . My lower body is quite strong but this was intense. The hard work is on another level with the calm deep breathing,a whole different sort of workout to this morning’s. Zen again

narniabusiness · 16/04/2024 20:29

Yep. Lower Body here too. I really felt that! Most enjoyable session.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/04/2024 20:39

Glad you are enjoying @Jumbojem. There are a few that I think are good for runners.

Yoga camp I am strong for me this morning.

Jumbojem · 17/04/2024 16:39

Let myself down this morning! Plan was to get up early and do a 30 min yoga session. Didn't get up as early as intended, then spent time faffing about watching other stuff on YouTube - whilst sat there on my yoga mat! So then only had time for a 15 minute Kassandra. Did no hands flow, which guaranteed no plank or down dog. Made a nice change and included some lunges so another lower body strengthener. Gotta love those short sharp Kassandra ones when time is short.
