This thread is for those of us crazy enough to commit to continuing MOVE every day during the year
so@BestIsWest

tag anyone I've missed
everyone is welcome. We are doing this together because it motivates and encourages us and each has seen an improvement even tiny from repeating Move. Yes, we know there are other 30 day challenges and the monthly calendar but we love MOVE!

Well I would have had a cracking month in May if May had been a 24 day month. Alas it wasn't and I missed most of the last week due to work and a stay with my MIL. I'm off to a flying start for June and if there are any days I fancy doing two, I will fill in with the latter sessions I missed in May.
That said, I'm not beating myself up for the odd miss. I want to enjoy my sessions and do it because I want to do it and because I like to follow our thread and hear how others are finding it. It would be so joyless if I was dutifully pitching up to the mat to 'get it over with' and tick it off the list.
That's bound to mean the odd miss but I'm in it for the long haul.

Shinyandnew2022 · 01/06/2022 23:04

Thanks@Sooverthemill for new June thread.
I feel a bit frustrated as I really struggled to get to the Mat today and when I did I felt I needed some TLC so did day 28 and not day 1 so I am already behind !
Oh well I should celebrate that we are
Month 6 really.
Well done to us all.

This is absolutely how to feel
About it.
Until this started in
January I hadn't done any yoga for about 10 years !!

Prestissimo · 02/06/2022 06:57

Just checking in. Thanks for the new thread @Sooverthemill

Off for a cross-country run with BIL this morning so will definitely need some yoga later - hoping I can fit it in!

BestIsWest · 02/06/2022 10:00

Thanks for new thread @Sooverthemill.
Did 1 yesterday. I admit I I skipped the first 5 minutes of waffle. It was hard though.

Sooverthemill · 02/06/2022 10:12

Day 1 today. I groaned when I saw it was 29 minutes ( she spoils us) but it was fab. Just took it slowly and mindfully. Welcome back everyone and yes it’s not a chore!

Yay for new thread! Fallen behind due to being away but glad for the new thread and will be keeping going throughout June post Jubilee!

Shinyandnew2022 · 02/06/2022 23:12

Day 1 done today.
I also fast forwarded the preamble .
I can't believe how hard this one is and am actually quite impressed with myself that I didn't immediately write it all off as impossible!

rifling · 03/06/2022 08:10

Thanks for the new thread. I am back on the mat albeit a lot creakier and stiffer than in April! Kicking myself for letting it slide. Oh well.

Shannith · 03/06/2022 09:00

Thanks for the new thread @Sooverthemill - I got a bit lax about posting though I kept up the yoga... and got ahead of myself. Which was good as I had a week off galloping across Exmoor.

I was with a friend who's a great rider and we went off on an ex racer and eventer and I kept up! 100% down to yoga (and riding my cob who thinks she's an ex racer sometimes) but mainly the yoga which has given me a modicum of balance and strength.

So I stated day 1 "fresh" and I could feel it. I actually find the first week harder as it's slower but it's great as it forces me to stay in the habit of doing this properly, even if it's slightly less comfortable.

About to do day 2 and 3 to get me back on track

Shannith · 03/06/2022 09:01

@WorriedMutha same here and I confess yesterday I was a bit feeling like to have to do it. Today a bit too but I know that afterward I'll be back in the groove and enjoying it for the sake of it - which I have been. All results have been a bonus really.

Shannith · 03/06/2022 09:02

@Shinyandnew2022 I know - when I tell people IRL to start it I have to emphasise don't be put off by the first week which I swear is harder than the following weeks!

BestIsWest · 03/06/2022 09:44

I had a half hearted stab at 2 yesterday. I seem to have done some to my neck/ shoulder so it feels very tight when I turn so I was very careful. But I was also tired and found the pace too slow. So I did everything but faster.

The riding sounds amazing @Shannith. I’ve never ridden (well once or twice on a pony as a teenager) but it always looks so much fun.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 03/06/2022 11:17

Day 22 today. Still finishing May. The yoga was quite challenging.
Good news is I noticed I have more flexibility now in my post run stretches so 2plus months of yoga does have benefits.

Shannith · 03/06/2022 11:20

Day 2 and 3 done and I feel a million times better. Even a week off and all the old aches and niggles return - nowhere near as bad as before but I've got used to them being banished.

Sooverthemill · 03/06/2022 11:38

Day 2! Yay me

Prestissimo · 03/06/2022 20:11

Day 3 done. Really needed a stretch today but agree with pp that the slowness at the start here is really hard. I guess I could focus on my breathing and get better but I do find it really difficult!!

Oh well, another day 'in the books'. Haven't really remembered any of them so far but I think my transitions are improving so that's something.

Sooverthemill · 04/06/2022 08:03

Day 3. Such a welcome all over body stretch after a scrunched up night. I agree week one is hard because it's so slow and purposeful but I'm trying to welcome that

OP posts:
BestIsWest · 04/06/2022 09:48

I was still struggling with my neck yesterday so did quite a lot of modifying to get through 3. It feels a bit better this morning so it must have done some good.

Shannith · 04/06/2022 14:28

Day 4 done and I'm still no yogi but in standing lunge I can start to think about obeying (!) her other instructions rather than gritting it out:trying not to wobble.

Shannith · 04/06/2022 14:30

@BestIsWest hope your neck is feeling better. My answer nowadays to every minor injury (muscle not skeleton) is yoga. Modified and gentle and it always works and if if doesn't I get checked out by someone medical.

DontPickTheFlowers · 04/06/2022 18:30

Hey everybody 👋 I managed to spend most of May unwell, jumping from one cold to another thanks to my 3 year old. But I’m back on it now - Have just done day 1 on 4th June 😏. I burped my way throughout, at least I was in my own living room 😆

Thanks so much for tagging me Soover - I recognise a few names from the Style&Beauty boards!
