@Shortbreadselection Adrienne says it is suitable for all levels beginner to experienced. You can adjust the poses eg use a block ( book, chair) blanket, cushions. If you are really overweight or have a medical condition you may want to double check but genuinely I was so unfit, recovering from cancer and I started a 30 day Adrienne programme and haven’t looked back. We are friendly and kind if you’d like to join us

@Sooverthemill thank you 😊

Shinyandnew2022 · 04/04/2022 18:45

Well done to everyone who is spotting improvements and welcome / welcome back to new joiners !
I have just done day 3 - am a
Day behind due to a day out at the
Weekend that unexpectedly segued straight to the pub ! Will catch up next week as have the week off work.
I have a few nights away coming up so maybe need to do some doubling up so I don't get too adrift from
You all .
Day 3 was good but my arms are still a
Bit trembly.

Shannith · 04/04/2022 19:46

Welcome to the new joiners - this is such a lovely thread and it's great to hear everyone improvements.

I did day 7 today though I'm not sure how much of the benefit I felt as my dog (super friendly and sweet) and my very traumatised foster dog have finally bonded and have spent the last 4 days running about and playing like maniacs.

If it wasn't one of them under me/jumping on me it was the other one.

I also foolishly left the yoga mat unattended and they've nibbled the end off.

I had a session with an osteopath today - on the recommendation of my riding instructor (she uses her, she specialises in riders) because she concluded my pelvis is wonky.

It is! So she did some magic and I'll see what difference it makes to yoga and riding this week.

She was very pleased with my yoga mission -
She said osteopaths love people who do regular yoga as they are fixing themselves all the time.

guinnessguzzler · 04/04/2022 19:46

@SunUpSunDown He sounds like a keeper!

Welcome @Shortbreadselection I find everyone here friendly and encouraging which keeps me going so I hope it works for you too!

Jumbojem · 04/04/2022 20:09

I think my arms are too short for the rest of me! When in the lunge position, with one leg under you and the other behind, I can only be raised up on finger tips as otherwise I can't reach the ground?! Or I am doing something wrong somewhere!
Also, saw a pic of Benji as a puppy earlier and he really was the cutest pup.

BestIsWest · 04/04/2022 20:51

I failed to finish day 4. I’ve had an exhausting couple of days with a lot of motorway driving which I detest. I spend the whole journey with sweaty hands.
Didn’t get home until 7 then when I saw it was 29 minutes long my heart sank. In retrospect I should have done a nice restful one like day 8. I managed 12 minutes then just collapsed. I will try it again in the morning.

Rifling · 04/04/2022 20:58

I stupidly ran 10km this morning. I say stupidly because I have never run that far before and regretted it almost instantly. I hobbled round for the rest of the day and finally dragged myself to the yoga mat for a rather painful session!

stillherenow · 04/04/2022 21:46

I was posting originally under a different name and commented that jan move had fixed my painful hip. I digressed to home last month and was hobbling all month. Back to move this month and already no pain and stiffness and I've forgotten about my hip. I think I'll be doing this on rotation forever now !

Loved day 4 , almost forgot and did it just now and it was great for bedtime

Shinyandnew2022 · 04/04/2022 21:49

I am exactly the same @Jumbojem was wondering about that too ! I also tried using my New blocks but that felt odd as well.
SunUpSunDown · 04/04/2022 22:00

@guinnessguzzler He absolutely is - I'm spoiled!

@Jumbojem I've got fairly short arms too, but I can put my hands on the ground. I have found it hard to tell sometimes whether a certain pose just won't work for my body due to my anatomy or whether it is a result of muscle tightness, stiffness, or that I simply need to practice or adjust the pose a little. I think the great thing with yoga is that you don't get it 'wrong' unless you actually push your body to do something that causes you harm.

Rummikub · 04/04/2022 22:43

Welcome new people. This is a brill thread to keep You motivated even if you fall off the mat.

So...
I managed 6 mins yoga this morning. I told myself just start and I still feel
Better for it!

millytint44 · 04/04/2022 23:04

Joining late... have dipped in and out of YWA since the pandemic. I love her!!!.

Will take it easy to start as got covid at the moment, probably caught it on the plane back on Saturday from skiing in France. But feeling a bit better for a couple of duvet days... what do you think, start from day 5 or from the beginning?

Sooverthemill · 05/04/2022 08:19

@millytint44 from the beginning, it builds up. Take it easy though

Day 5 yay that was nice and helped my stiff shoulders a lot. Love pigeon!

OP posts:
SunUpSunDown · 05/04/2022 09:37

Day 5 done...it was definitely a more gentle one today and much needed here. Loving the accountability this thread provides as it helps motivate me to get on the mat!

guinnessguzzler · 05/04/2022 10:49

Yes, Day 5 very nice.

@stillherenow isn't that strange? I wonder what it is about Move that works so well for you. Whatever it is it's obviously good though!

@Shannith Glad the dogs are getting on!

BestIsWest · 05/04/2022 13:25

Managed to finish 4 this morning so will do 5 later today.
I have no problems putting my hands on the floor with lunge but I have short legs and a long body. Which helps I think.I think we’re all different shapes. I have no problem with twists for example but I’m rubbish at anything that needs flexible hips or bendy knees.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 05/04/2022 15:01

Hello everyone. Didn't get to Day 5 yet as my morning routine was interrupted. Maybe later. I like the quote further up about people who do yoga fix themselves all the time.
Do you have any thoughts about doing yoga every day? In other disciplines they are quite keen on rest days to let muscles heal etc

Sooverthemill · 05/04/2022 20:53

@OopNorfDahnSarf I think with yoga you can do it daily. Though sometimes I tell myself I need a rest day! It's not like running I think

OP posts:
BestIsWest · 05/04/2022 21:05

I think with Move you are exercising different muscles each day so counts as resting perhaps?
Day 5 done. Much nicer.

stillherenow · 05/04/2022 21:17

Really loved day 5, felt great

SunUpSunDown · 06/04/2022 08:18

Day 6 done...anyone else find themselves cranking their neck up off the floor in the last abs bit? I struggle so much with core work Confused

UnaOfStormhold · 06/04/2022 08:50

Rest days is one of the reasons I like the 30 day programmes - she puts in a few less physically demanding sessions (day 8 for example) which are perfect for recovery days. I am very insistent on my rest days from other sports (running, climbing and strength training) but I find yoga is gentle enough to do every day and helps keep me limber.

Day 5 done yesterday, very nice. I'm not sure how I'll get on with day 6 while I'm still recovering from COVID but will take breaks if I need to.

Sooverthemill · 06/04/2022 09:17

Day 6 was hard! And I didn't finish. How come it was so much longer than last month in my mind?

OP posts:
OopNorfDahnSarf · 06/04/2022 11:19

Did Days 5.& 6 today. I found the stretches on Day 5 harder than the core work today. I am willing myself to be more flexible but I can't see any improvement yet.
