Hi, so you are repeating the January 30 day course? I signed up for it in December but didn’t do any of it. I’m definitely up for giving it a go now. Do you do it at a specific time together?

rifling · 01/03/2022 17:16

Day 1 off to a bad start! Skipping as I feel awful. Maybe Covid? Spent the day coughing in bed!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 01/03/2022 18:14

Hello my lovelies.

Still not back on the mat after the hideous norovirus-
am shocked at how it has hit me-still very nauseous and with some weird food aversions but think I will be back later in the week and will catch up.

I am trying to really hold the poses and push myself and it is so gratifying-I also think seeing the progress when I'm not even realising I am making any is huge!!!

Sooverthemill · 01/03/2022 18:38

@OnlyClothes @CharlieBubbles88 yes for March at least we are doing Move again. We found it was brilliant to see our own ‘improvement’ day by day and the thread gives excellent support. I know the sessions for Move are quite short but some of us add on other sessions too eg the core ones

guinnessguzzler · 01/03/2022 19:15

Oh no @rifling that doesn't sound good. Hope you feel better soon! Same to you @mumsiedarlingrevolta and you can get back to the mat when you're ready.

Great to have new people along. I have found it really supportive and although we don't all do it at the same time it is good to know we are all focusing in the same way.

I will be doing Move Day 1 this evening and then Day 2 tomorrow first thing.

IntendingWell · 01/03/2022 23:27

@CharlieBubbles88

Hi all, will you be doing this or similar every month? I did move and it really got me back into yoga so much so I've now planned my week of Adriene videos. 30 minutes in the morning, 60 in the evening. While the 30 challenges take the headache out of working out which video to do, the lengths don't always suit my needs

@IntendingWell I've been toying with the idea of training, more for myself than anything else. Any advice/tips/right direction you can point me in?

Sorry for the derail!

I found a course near me and I go one Saturday per month, so it will take me 18 months to qualify. I'm not doing it with a view to making a living out of it at the end, it's more self-development than anything but I have lots of friends who want me to teach them! I'm really loving it and it's a great way of going deeper into the philosophies and foundations of yoga.

We are carrying on with her January 2022 30 day challenge 'move'. We all did in in January, repeated it in February

Blush I haven't finished going through January's yet Blush

Shinyandnew2022 · 01/03/2022 23:44

Late to post but did day one earlier. Feels great to be starting again.
Day 1 was harder than I remember but I can do it!

My highlight today was my DD (10)asked me if it was day 30 and then gave me a completely impromptu round of applause when she realised it's 2 whole months of daily yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️
The whole family have been supportive and everyone knows to leave me be when I am on the mat !
She often walks past and says encouraging things like 'you look just like her now ' I wish .

Anyway am rambling as it's late - sorry to hear of those unwell @rifling @mumsiedarlingrevolta - you will know when you are ready to get back to it.

Don’t worry about that. Just show up as she says!

I’m on day 12 I think.

Rummikub · 02/03/2022 00:14

@mumsiedarlingrevolta
Hope you’re feeling better
Sounds horrendous!

UnaOfStormhold · 02/03/2022 07:30

Your daughter sounds great @Shinyandnew2022 . Day 16 last night for me, these 20 minute practices are perfect for a good post run stretch!

Trixiefirecracker · 02/03/2022 07:37

I tried the Move challenge in Jan and found lots of it really difficult so gave up or skipped lots. Reading this thread has made me want to try it again! Unless anyone can suggest a better ‘beginners’ one? I know she has a few 30 day ones….

Rummikub · 02/03/2022 08:25

I’m pretty much a beginner and I
Do lots of modifications with Move eg I never do downward dog - once for about ten seconds

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 02/03/2022 08:46

Me too

Sooverthemill · 02/03/2022 08:52

Ooh lots of new people! @Trixiefirecracker you may find her very first 30 day challenge’easier’ but she’s a much better teacher now so I’d stick with this and modify as @Rummikub says. I started with the very first and each year done the new one. I’ve been practicing daily now since November 2015 and part from occasional forays into Kassandra ( also brilliant) I’ve stuck with Adrienne. I’m housebound so can only do yoga online and it’s saved my sanity and my body!

Everyone welcome into our friendly supportive group. It’s not a competition for any of us just a daily pay on the back
Day 2 was harder than I remembered! But maybe because I’m taking more care. Very good for someone who slept badly to open up my scrunched up body

IntendingWell · 02/03/2022 09:18

Day 2 is strong isn't it? Grin

Softpebbles · 02/03/2022 09:27

@Sooverthemill thanks for the thread. I’d fallen off the old one. Have gone back to the gym but I may try and restart this again as the most amount of time I need is 30 mins.

I think the thing I seem to find hard is getting changed and in the mindset to do it 🤦‍♀️

PatienceOfEngels · 02/03/2022 10:41

Jumping in. I made it to day 13 in January. True has been my favourite 30 day so far!

I always feel better when I'm doing regular yoga.

BestIsWest · 02/03/2022 11:05

@Trixiefirecracker I’m pretty much a beginner really. I have done classes years ago but I was in my twenties then and in my fifties now. I found it hard but modify a lot. I used a chair to do downward dog and plank to start then moved to blocks. I can’t bend my knee properly so anything sitting back on my heels is impossible. But there is a lot I can do and I’m very much feeling the benefits.

Trixiefirecracker · 02/03/2022 19:30

@BestIsWest I may need something really basic to continue! I’m put off by all the quick changes from lunges to planks and then in to cobra etc. I just loose track ( and/or fall over) I can do them all separately but find it so fast and have noticed she doesn’t really offer alternatives as much as she does in some of the more ‘even-paced’ ones….

Rummikub · 02/03/2022 20:06

I find the changes quick too
Have to drag my leg forward. But it gradually changes and gets easier. I still drag but don’t use my hand- that’s progress 😂

Be kind to yourself @Trixiefirecracker

Do what you can

Rummikub · 02/03/2022 20:08

“ I think the thing I seem to find hard is getting changed and in the mindset to do it”

I do it in the clothes I slept inBlush
Just to remove barriers cos I know what I’m like!

Shannith · 02/03/2022 20:09

Hello new people! How brilliant that there are Ben more of us.

I think I joined on about day 4 last time so did days 1 and 2 for the first time. I have to say that if I was coming in cold (I do daily stretchy yoga) I'd have been daunted.

Interestingly (to me Smile) when I first did Move in Feb I was surprised how much the sessions... moved. I know.

I found myself on day 1/2 almost wanting her to speed it up a bit. Not something I'd have imagined a month ago when I could barely keep up.

One month of move definitely made a big difference and the thread is great. I'm hoping month 2 will have equally good results. I might even do each video twice as I'm used to doing an hour and mildly sadistic.

One thing I've noticed it that my arms have muscled up a bit. I normally don't bother with arms in winter - I just lift some weights in the summer to tone them up for sleeveless days. I might not have to bother this year.

I sound like a lunatic

Rummikub · 02/03/2022 20:10

Toned arms ? I’m envious!

Sooverthemill · 02/03/2022 20:17

My arms are definitely toned up ( all those planks) after these sessions. I agree that the sessions feel fast at first but honestly yiu get used to the lace and it all gels
