I just want to say thank you to this thread. I have discovered the Move videos and I am on Day 3. I like the idea of repeating the cycle and noticing improvement.

SpottyBumPony · 09/03/2022 09:17

Oof, I did day 6 this morning 'Light'. I feel anything but light, all that side work and legs in the air was really tiring. It didn't help that DS age 3 kept interrupting and then said it wasn't fair that I got to have a nap at the end Grin

This was my SpottyBumPony, I don't have her anymore as DS wasn't interested

Love the pony!
No yoga today. Just impossible with DD so poorly. Hoping today is easier. I do rely on my yoga

@Sooverthemill I've got everything crossed DD improves soon. So hard for you.

@SpottyBumPony love him - reminds me of one we had a the yard. He was a little shit but so cute.

@OopNorfDahnSarf welcome!

Interms of improvement I'm certainly noticing more spaciousness (as she calls it). I've got more space and generaL mobility. Also less aches and pains - though this morning I did day 10 as I've got ahead of myself. I didn't really get into it as I was feeling a bit meh. Probably because I spend most of yesterday lying next to my foster dog gradually gaining his confidence so the lively dog in there can emerge.

So pretty stuff this morning - he loved it though. I did her deep stretch as well as I needed to iron out the kinks.

Mare was her normal I'm going to impersonate a motorbike and a motorbike that's scared of random, ever-changing shit. Today it was wind and an invisible monster in the bottom of the school and I noticed I sat her antics far better.

I had time to think no you are not going to bog off at speed you muppet and catch her before she thought about it.

BestIsWest · 09/03/2022 17:27

@Sooverthemill hoping for better days for you soon.

Day 9 today so no chance to practice the tips up thread. Managed tree pose for a bit longer and could get my leg a bit higher but had to take my leggings off to do it as my feet kept slipping down my leg! I suppose the point is to use your muscles to hold your feet in place in place not your leggings! Didn’t help that DH came in mid pose looking for something so broke my concentration and annoyed me. Couldn’t he have waited 10 mins? As a result I am not as chilled as usually.

UnaOfStormhold · 09/03/2022 21:38

I quite often end up taking my leggings off to do tree pose - I think you're meant to press back against the foot with the vertical thigh to reduce slippage but that gets uncomfy pretty fast! Day 24 finished here

Sending lots of good wishes to your DD @Sooverthemill. Hope she improves soon, and that even in the stressful days you can find a few seconds to take a deep yoga breath and borrow back a little of the peace of the yoga mat.

Sooverthemill · 10/03/2022 09:09

I am always in pjs and push up the legs so I can grip. Never get my foot up as far as my thighs!
Did day 8(?) today, the sleepy one. Then one for arms and wrists as my arms are very painful. I think I’m clenching everything!

@SpottyBumPony it makes perfect sense when you see the adorable pony !

@Sooverthemill hope the yoga helped - I am terrible for carrying tension in my neck and shoulders when stressed the yoga helps a lot I wish I had re discovered it years ago now .

Did day 9 yesterday and enjoyed it a lot definitely all felt doable.

Even thought it's third time round I never remember what is coming up so it's always like doing it first time .

Shannith · 10/03/2022 10:31

Did day 11 as I'm fairly sure I'm going to miss a day or two over the weekend.

I think I'd purged that one from my mind. Certainly laid bare areas where there are still huge room for progress.

But - and I'm aware this is a weird way to track yoga progress but - whenever I sat in a bus chair I was entirely mystified as to what there were the shape they were because I could not sit with my back flat to them at all - we are talking miles off. It seemed like such a weird and unnatural way to sit.

I got a bus yesterday and realised halfway through that I was sitting with my back against the seat like normal people do.

So that's my barometer. Sitting like a normal person on the bus.

rifling · 10/03/2022 14:45

I really liked todays - so much so that I came home from work especially to do it! (Normally I hang around between lessons and get on with some prep but I decided yoga was more important!)

Shinyandnew2022 · 10/03/2022 20:49

Did day 11 here too and really enjoyed it
This was definitely one where I can feel how much progress there has been since January - as others have said it is just little things like realising you can pay attention to the details of her instructions.

Or how you sit on the bus of course @Shannith

UnaOfStormhold · 10/03/2022 20:56

Day 25 done, quite tired after a longish run earlier but it was nice for sore legs, particularly the pigeon bit. I'm definitely able to move further into the twists which is satisfying.

Shannith · 11/03/2022 10:43

Did her total body workout today, which I've done quite a few times before. If anything it was harder this time - but that's because I was really doing it properly. So easier because I'm able to do it correctly but harder because I can most certainly still feel the sensations.

Such a nice way of saying mild/medium discomfort!

It's good if you want down dog practice/torture.

Sooverthemill · 11/03/2022 10:48

I did day 9 today which was pretty good. Fell over once but it stretched me in all the right places. @Shannith it's good to be doing it 'properly' isn't it?

OP posts:
Shannith · 11/03/2022 11:00

@Sooverthemill it really is. I feel a lot stronger. Just little things like now being able to roll up with something approaching grace with my feet together rather than apart.

And automatically tucking my pelvis rather than a conscious, slightly weird/uncomfortable effort. And most of the time my wonky right collar bone /shoulder has stopped clicking.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 11/03/2022 16:36

@Sooverthemill @Shannith I totally agree with the "harder/easier" feeling.
Easier because I am "getting it" more and harder because I am really pushing to hold everything as long as I can-had a huge breakthrough on my squat yesterday and the glow of pride lasted all day!!!!

disclaimer I not getting cocky-still shouting FFS at at Adrienne at regular intervals

Sooverthemill · 11/03/2022 16:48

Yes I did wide legged forward gold and actually got my palms on the floor! Yay

OP posts:
BestIsWest · 11/03/2022 20:44

Day 12. Definitely getting stronger though still using the blocks for downward dog and plank.

Can we talk mats? I have a cheap mat I bought in Aldi years ago which my feet stick to so much that when I move into a lunge the mat comes too. Do I need something heavier or less sticky?

OopNorfDahnSarf · 11/03/2022 22:12

Evening. I am running behind the days of the month and tried Day4 Flow today. It seemed impossible compared to days 1-3. Did you find it harder or was I having a bad day? Should I keep trying until I feel I can do it? Or go back to day 1 or keep going with Day4? Cheers

guinnessguzzler · 12/03/2022 07:18

I have a Reebok mat which is about 15 years old and fine. My hubby has an Adidas one which is only a few years old and is lovely, it feels thicker and more supportive. Neither have the stickiness problem you describe.

guinnessguzzler · 12/03/2022 07:18

Oops, that was @BestIsWest

I would probably just keep going and see how you get on with the next one. I have always found the first few days harder but I think it really depends.
Sooverthemill · 12/03/2022 08:30

@OopNorfDahnSarf keep going
@BestIsWest I had a cheap mat for years but my lifeforme mat is so much better ( wait for a deal)
No yoga today. DD still killing me

Jumped to day 12. (Bit of an unpredictable week meant yoga fell by the wayside, but I’m going to hang in there!).

The thing I have always found difficult is the warrior poses - partly because I confuse my left and my right and partly because I find them uncomfortable compared to forward facing planks and stretches. However I stuck with it, although not with much grace!

My mat must be 20 years old because it is pre-DC. It has a good level of stickiness but I would also be looking for something that is thick enough to feel comfortable on a hard floor - although maybe not so important if you practice on carpet?
