@Shannith @BestIsWest yes absolutely I'm trying to really listen to her and do exactly as she says which is where I a, sure improvement lies. Not just ' oh this is warrior 2' but shift foot, open heart etc. it's very satisfying. Pain wise I'm not too bad, just cross with myself - was running to catchDH who was driving to the post office with DDs PCR( she's really unwell so being safe) which he'd forgotten! My wrist hurts most now

Shannith · 04/03/2022 11:21

Well @Sooverthemill at least you've got a pass for pesky side planks. N one side anyway. Silver linings...

rifling · 04/03/2022 12:07

Sorry to hear about the injuries @sooverthemill. Hope you feel better soon.

I am jumping in on day 4 as I have been off work sick all week. I'd like to kid myself that I am going to catch up on the missing days but it's probably not going to happen! I can already feel the difference having not done anything since Sunday!! My grandma used to always tell me to do yoga every day and of course I didn't bother but she was right!

Rummikub · 04/03/2022 12:53

Just done day 12. I think I must’ve blocked a lot of that out first time around as I didn’t remember most of it. Also Crow have I blocked this out of my mind??

Rummikub · 04/03/2022 12:56

@Sooverthemill
Oh just read that you fell down the stairs !
I hope you’re okay. That’s some superwoman work if you did yoga afterwards!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 04/03/2022 13:40

@Sooverthemill poor you-falling over a grown up is so much worse than falling over as a little kid-really knocks it out of you.
Hope you are feeling better.

Happy to say I am finally back and I did Day 1&2 today in an effort to catch up to have the camaraderie for Day 6!!!

guinnessguzzler · 04/03/2022 16:49

Oh no, Day 6! It won't be long and can't be avoided! Let's hope this time is easier.

@Sooverthemill that's awful. Hope both you and your DD are feeling better very soon.

And you too @rifling sorry to hear you have been ill as well.

UnaOfStormhold · 04/03/2022 21:09

Day 19 completed, grabbing what I am sure will be a much needed bit of serenity as DS came home today with what I am pretty sure is chicken pox. I have stocked up on medicines (no ibuprofen, thanks mumsnet!) and now I'm planning to head to bed early as I suspect he'll have a disturbed night.

Hope you and your DD are both on the mend soon @Sooverthemill

PatienceOfEngels · 05/03/2022 07:35

@Gintime74

I signed up for this in Feb and did so badly. I want to do it and need to as so many aches, pains and permanently stressed but I get up at 5 every morning, am out of the door by 5.30 and home around 7.30/8pm. How do others fit it in? I don’t really have a lunch break but could probably find time whilst at work, but just where to do it and factor in changing out of uniform?
That's a really long day @Gintime74 . Do you have kids to sort when you get home? Dinner?

I would try either to set as a pre-dinner routine (if you have meals that can be put to slowly warm-up) or as pre-bed.

I don't have such long days as you (and work part-time) but on my work days it's not going to happen at the moment. I'd rather be realistic and aim for 3x a week and maybe do more, than feel I've failed the first time I miss a day.

I have managed the last 3 days straight (only because I have the week off).

Sooverthemill · 05/03/2022 08:21

So today yoga isn’t likely as DD still hasn’t slept and I’m sitting in her room with her. She’s negative but doc gave antibiotics and steroids as she is so breathless and I’m on strict mummy duty today!

rifling · 05/03/2022 09:48

@Sooverthemill Poor DD, hope she feels better soon. My ds used to get lots of chest infections and breathlessness and it's really scary. Luckily, he seems to have grown out of it.

@Gintime74 That's a very punishing schedule! Do you have a long commute? I am very pragmatic and keep telling myself that even one yoga session a week is better than none - I have found improvements that I noticed only really came with daily or near-daily though, even if they are just short sessions.

@UnaofStormhold Hope the chicken pox is mild!

Hello to everyone else!!

CharlieBubbles88 · 05/03/2022 09:54

Sorry to all those who are poorly, or have poorly little ones!
I've joined in on day five and really enjoyed it, it's set me up for the day. May do another during the day and of course my uncompromisable evening practice. I don't know what I'd do without it now, it's such a good tool

Shannith · 05/03/2022 10:55

Get well hugs to everyone with poorly children.

Day 5 done and I needed a good stretch so enjoyed that.

Miracle upon miracle I went into the squat and held it with arms in nameste for the first time ever. And I did the harder versions of the legs stuff. I've done it before but it was through gritted teeth - this time it was pain free (ish).

I always wondered what yoga would be like without it hurting. It's nice. I cannot stress enough how stiff I was a year and a half ago!

Now, finally, when she's going on about moving from the core etc I can obey rather than concentrating on holding the blasted stretch

@PatienceOfEngels and @Gintime74 you are absolutely right that any yoga, any time, counts. It's all good. I'd be lost without it - even when I do it less frequently I still get huge benefits.

Gintime74 · 05/03/2022 11:01

(PatienceOfEngels and rifling, thank you, yes long commute . I think you are right, I just need to lower my expectations. Maybe weekends and perhaps find some time when I get home whilst bath is running.
I don’t tend to cook on workdays, DH and kids eat before I’m home and either save me some or I have omelette etc.

rifling · 05/03/2022 13:04

Weirdly I always find that squat really comfy and could stay there for ages. There is such a lot I can't do though so I made a note so I can mark any progress. I can't:

  • Bring legs forward from downward dog to lunge (I have to stand up a bit and put them in position Blush especially the right leg).
  • Move over cross-legged position onto all fours (How???)
  • rock over the toes (mine just seem not to be flexible enough)
And that's before all the actual poses (crow etc) that I cannot do! Oh well, I guess the positive is that there is a lot of room for improvement!
Rummikub · 05/03/2022 13:08

Same here! Much improvement required.
But it’s so good for my mental
Health.

Day 13 today. My goodness crow!!! I must’ve switched off first time. I just stopped and watched her in awe.

Rummikub · 05/03/2022 13:11

Ah I hope she feels better soon
rifling · 05/03/2022 13:21

Just catching up on some posts I missed and the one about clothing jumped out at me. I SWEAR my yoga has improved since I started wearing yoga leggings and top (Decathlon sale!) rather than old pyjamas! I know it's psychological but I feel more competent. Grin I love Adriene's yoga togs in Move - a lot more stylish than her earlier videos which I did last month!

Rummikub · 05/03/2022 13:44

I can imagine the right clothing does make a difference.

Jumbojem · 05/03/2022 16:00

Hello all, well done those of you doing move for the third month. January was so positive for me and I really think the daily yoga helped. Then February just didn't happen, I did yoga a grand total of 3 times. Trying to get back on track for March and I had s go at Day 6 yesterday. Made me realise how much I progressed by daily practice in Jan, and how quickly I lost what I'd built up in Feb! But, onwards and upwards. I really need to get up earlier now mornings are lighter and warmer and do it then.

BestIsWest · 05/03/2022 17:20

Hope she is a bit better. Also any one else feeling poorly themselves or with DC - hope the chickenpox is mild.

Just done day 5. I was glad not to have too many planks/ downward dogs as my shoulder has been a bit twingy.
I can’t remember day 6 so can’t remember why everyone dreads it. I heard her mention core?

Shannith · 05/03/2022 17:36

It's great how we all find some things easier and others a challenge.

Standing lunges - right leg especially are a work in progress. On my left I'm stable and can move my top half about but on my left it's a nope. I try but a puff of wind and I'd fall over.

Defiantly need to get my legs stronger and I do believe doing move each day is helping towards that.

@rifling and @Rummikub it helps me in that I'm not always then fiddling with trouser legs/tucking my top in/having it fall over my head and annoy me. It's also psychological - actual yoga pants make me feel like I'm doing yoga rather than just stretching.

No socks no matter how cold my feet are. Or at least I take then off for standing stuff

I always feel spring is a good time for yoga - lighter mornings and warm enough to not be cold and stiff but not hot enough to sweat. These things are important in my post menopausal world.

@Jumbojem - you can do it! This thread keeps me accountable.

Shinyandnew2022 · 05/03/2022 18:23

Just checking in after Day 5 which I absolutely loved.

So sorry to hear of all the ailments ongoing - especially @Sooverthemill that sounds very scary with your DD you have lots on your plate I hope things ease for her .

I love reading other peoples thoughts on poses - I enjoyed the yogic squat and of course our dear friend pigeon.
My heels are raised in the squat and will never be flat I am sure but I feel quite stable - the high lunges are one of my nemesis too I don't know why I am so unbalanced.
I find the transition from plank to down dog hard and have to adjust my legs a lot which she doesn't seem to need to do.

I am eying up the yoga pants a couple of your linked to before as easier to justify than sweaty Betty when I won't leave the house in them ever !

CharlieBubbles88 · 05/03/2022 20:25

@Shinyandnew2022 I am surprised at how much easier I find plank to downdog now but I do have to move my feet closer to my hands slightly once transitioned
My legs are probably my strongest thing as I do a lot of walking but any lunge, especially revolved twists, absolutely kill me
I've done around two hours today! Yesterday I was having an absolute crisis point meltdown due to work and after a 30 minute evening practice followed by another for tension relief I felt like a new woman. Definitely keeping that in my back pocket for incredibly tough days
Agree with the clothing although as I walk a lot it's my standard uniform. Plus work has been dress down for ages so that helps too. I can't remember the last time I wore jeans. My dear dad always said 'function over fashion' Grin

Sooverthemill · 06/03/2022 08:55

I did day 5 today which was perfect for my aches and pains. I’m virtually recovered from the fall and we all slept last night. Thank you for the kind wishes: DD is almost 23 and has several chronic illnesses which have meant she’s been bedbound since age 14 and chest infections can be very serious. She once had one for 14 weeks so we do get a bit nervous. But hoping she’s on the mend x
