It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Was almost up to date last weekend then got a horrible cold which meant it hurt just to move my head normally, never mind doing a down dog. So haven’t done any since last Sunday. Just done day 26, which I enjoyed.

quirkychick · 02/02/2019 17:25

cheminotte me too, I've just got 30 to do tomorrow.

cheminotte · 02/02/2019 18:35

Around Weds I was considering looking to see if she had a ‘yoga for when you are feeling sorry for yorself’ !

cheminotte · 02/02/2019 18:36

Yourself

Destiel · 02/02/2019 18:40

Still feel crappy so will give today a miss.

whitershadeofpale · 02/02/2019 19:55

Have a slight cold but nothing serious. I know any other time I would have given it a miss but I’m feeling so good for doing it everyday that I carried on and did February day 2. I loved this session, a really nice flow and I even found that I could do the side planks.

daisychain01 · 03/02/2019 06:44

Thank you @quirkychick like you, I definitely feel all jangled up, but 48 hours on, I absolutely agree that it's so much better not having the tooth there, it was crowding my mouth at the back. Having the space feels wonderful! Weirdly the other side isn't a problem so hopefully I won't need to go through this again.

I've eaten leak and potato soup and purée vegetables (parsnip, potato one day, and potato, broccoli yesterday). Today it's mushroom and tomato I think, DH has been messing around in the kitchen since Friday, the food processor came in handy! Apparently I look less pale and sorry for myself so the food is helping!

I'm missing my daily yoga fix so much, can't wait to get back, I just have to avoid any down dog and anything dynamic that increases the blood flow and basically makes my face throb!

Observation about Day 30, I really think Adriene needs to consider doing a voiceover, otherwise what's the point. It was a lovely sequence she did, but I wanted to follow what she was doing not make up my own routine, otherwise what was the point of having the vid going, I could have just put my own background music on and done it separately. As it was, it became very frustrating craning my neck wanting to follow her vinyasa, and really not getting the benefit of the practice. Had she done a simple voice over, just a few prompts when she transitioned from one sequence to the next, I would, and I'm sure other would too, have easily been able to use the knowledge from the previous 29 days to have kept up with what she was doing by listening to her prompts and following her flow. I will rerun Day 30 a few times and see if I can get to knowing it by heart, because the sequences were lovely.

I'm aiming to resume by doing all of the 30 days (the original series) in about 4-5 days time, if anyone wants to join me in that. Hope y'all having a good Feb and keeping those snuffles and coughs at bay. I desperately need to avoid cold bugs, apparently after tooth extractions you mustn't blow your nose for at least 2 weeks due to risk of disrupting the extraction site. Eeek.

Samb79 · 03/02/2019 07:07

God I feel horrific. Don’t know if it’s flu, a cold, or some other lurgy, but I’m definitely feeling sorry for myself. So much so I’ve watched little house on the prairie and now I’m watching the waltons. I’d quite like Adrienne to come round my house, wrap me in a blanket, feed me lovely wholesome food and stroke my hair! No yoga today

quirkychick · 03/02/2019 08:20

I hope you feel better soon, Samb79. We've all had a really nasty cold (dd2 has had 2 weeks off school, turned into a chest infection, getting better now). I ended up doing one of her meditation ones, where you just sit and breathe, her Yoga for when you're sick and the Intro to Yin, lots of cushions and blankets.

Destiel · 03/02/2019 10:41

Both DC here got some sort of sore throat/cold/cough lurgy :(

Day 3 care done. It's an odd one. I didn't really like it tbh. But then my wrists and shoulders were very tight.

Oh well.

Onwards.

quirkychick · 03/02/2019 11:22

Day 30 done, but I ended up doing mainly standing or sitting poses as I had a combination of heartburn and an irritating cough Confused.

Destriel same here with the lurgy. Heartily sick of it, tbh.

Thisnamechanger · 03/02/2019 12:25

Hello yogis! Can I join? Been doing a few sessions a week since January. Observations so far:

  • 6.45 sessions are surprisingly cosy and lovely, you can just shuffle in all sleepy and no one talks to you or anything
  • sometimes leggings only reveal their seethroughness in "happy baby" pose
  • the "oooooooom/shantishantishanti" bit makes me feel a bit like when you have to offer each other the sign of peace in church (as in awkward! Grin )
  • big muscley gym boys make twice as much noise ad everyone else
  • I've only fallen over twice
Grin

Loving it.

Habadabadoo · 03/02/2019 17:45

After two days off I'm back to yoga! Think I would have really missed it if I didn't do some today. I have noticed subtle differences in my body from the 30 days so don't want to lose that.
I just did a YouTube search for 'vinyasa flow yoga' and found a 20min video by lululemon. Was great to listen to someone new (sorry Adriene!). Very simple and straightforward. Great if you haven't got much time.
Get well to all those feeling ill.

Spudlet · 03/02/2019 17:47

Welcome, namechanger [ waves yogically]

Was still feeling stiff and also v tired today and couldn't choose a video so ended up sticking day 30 of True on and doing my own thing, followed Adriene a bit when I ran low on ideas but mostly just did what felt right. It's a lot easier to sync breath up when you go at your own pace!

juniperjune · 03/02/2019 19:55

I didn't do day three today but went to a local class instead. It was lovely, bank to Adriene tomorrow!

Fiadh79 · 03/02/2019 19:56

I did day 20 of Dedicate today. It was really good. I've been really low energy today and was worried when she said it was a vinyasa inspired practice, but I actually enjoyed it. Also I think my transitions are getting smoother. The first time she had us moving from down dog to plank I was outraged, but then I gave it a shot and I wasn't bad!

I like doing g my own thing, spudlet. I just find that I don't really know the asanas well enough so it's a bit limited. But you're right it's a lot easier to get the breathing.

Cherrypi · 03/02/2019 20:09

Day three of care was odd but easy as I've now caught the thread lurgy. Most of the care one's seem quite short.

GreenHatHacker · 03/02/2019 20:53

Day three of Care done here - mostly, anyway! Like destiel I really didn't like it so stopped at about 9 minutes - couldn't keep my arms held out that long! Did the yoga for neck & shoulder relief after, though, so felt I'd done something good for myself.

eurochick · 03/02/2019 21:47

I've just finished the Dedicate series - day 30 done. I didn't particularly enjoy the freedom. I like having the little reminders she gives on form along the way. And a small iPad screen was not helpful to see what she was doing. It is an effective way to show how much we have learned though.

I think I'll pick and mix from here on in, rather than following a calendar. I did enjoy the 30 day plan though.

coffeecow · 03/02/2019 23:57

I didn't get round to doing five parks on Saturday so I did it today. Blimey she's flexible, I had to laugh at myself not even coming close to her poses! I finished it off with Adriene's 10 min self care from the feb calendar and that worked well. I agree with a PP though that I feel like I'm being disloyal to Adriene, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind Grin

Sending well wishes to our poorly yogis Cake

noodlezoodle · 04/02/2019 05:53

I've got a cold so went off piste today with her Yoga for when you're sick, and I really liked it. 20 minutes but didn't feel like it, and very gentle - lots of modifications offered if you're too stuffed up for downward dog. Might try the Yin yoga video tomorrow if I'm still feeling a bit rough.

quirkychick · 04/02/2019 07:25

I chose the Yoga for Psoas from the calendar today, as my hips are stiff after taking it easy. I've done it before, as my hips are not the most flexible. It was not too tough, but I wanted something with a bit of movement as I feel more energetic than yesterday. Adriene doesn't do it on this video, but in one of her others, she suggests when doing lunges/lizard and learning to reach for the back foot, to put it up against a wall or furniture. I can't reach my back foot yet, but I can prop it up against a chair (I do yoga in my sitting room with YouTube on the big tv) while I develop the flexibility. Hips and legs feel nicely loose and stretched now.

Destiel · 04/02/2019 09:47

Just about to do day 4...

Is tomorrow good for hips? That's good to know...mine seem to hurt all the time :(

Destiel · 04/02/2019 10:50

That was nice.
I actually managed to do (a variant) of eagle pose this time.

Thisnamechanger · 04/02/2019 12:57

Does anyone else really hate the sensation of the boney bits of their feet and ankles touching one another when feet are together? I can't stand it. Been yoga-ing in leg warmers this morning.
