Anyone else doing medical transcription at home?

Not much work and low pay but not much choice if you can't go out to work unfortunately.

@Gally123 I’ve been having problems with my footpedal too. I thought it was my computer so I spent hours last night trying to fix it with no success. Even using the instructions I’ve used before didn't help and it’s still not working. Using the play button is really slowing me down. It works with my other work so it’s not specifically a problem with the footpedal or my computer.

@ElleBee56 try this click on view site information in front of the website address bar and change apps on device to ON with the toggle. Hopefully it will work.

Just clicked on this thread out of curiosity to see what's happening to transcription jobs in the era of AI and I am surprised to see so little discussion of it, whilst recognising your work tasks are drying up. AI is going to take over all transcription work within the next few months. Sorry to say.

@ElleBee56 sorry for the late reply but not had access to Mumsnet previously today. Hopefully you are now sorted.

@Gally123 still no luck. I did a few small letters last night using the play button (time consuming!), everything is there - TProConnect.exe - click on restart on the TProConnect icon at the bottom of the screen but nothing! Maybe something’s telling me it’s time to give up and retire (fat chance, pension just covers rent and council tax!) I still do Dict8 but even that is driving me to the edge with the awful dictation and audio and still the same pay as when I started 19 years ago! Apologies for the long moany post!

@ElleBee56 - try clicking on the bit at the top of the screen in the website address httl bar (or whatever it's called). There are 2 things that look like tadpoles swimming in opposite directions. Click on that and there is a drop down menu, and you need to change the notifications/permissions bit. Someone explained it to me, it's like when you read a newspaper online or look at a shopping site like Argos and a you get a pop up saying they want permission to see your location. For some reason something's been changed and you need to reset your permissions.

I’m so thankful this group exists. I don’t post often but I do follow. We’re all isolated work-wise so it’s good to know there are others out there to have a moan to or ask for advice or support. Thank you!

Have just seen that really nice post about transcription work drying up in next few months. What utter rubbish and scaremongering. Medical transcription is going to be needed for some time to come so sorry to disappoint you rosefield1.

@Lucylizzy123 I totally agree, medical transcription and typists will always be needed - human intervention is essential, especially when it comes to medical information, if an AI bot messes things up and "hears" the wrong medication and/or dosage can you imagine how that could affect patient care?
@RoseField1 everyone is entitled to an opinion, but your comment was unkind and thoughtless - we all work in isolation so adding extra stress is not appreciated 🙄

Yeah I realised I didn't upload my invoice properly so emailed them this morning, no luck yet. Hoping someone will pick up on it soon.

I was a medical secretary many years ago. Would I be able to do this? I notice you need a reference which could be difficult.

Anyone ever sent a late invoice? I had to resend mine this morning and have heard from noone. Am hoping I don't have to wait to next month to get paid.

No I haven't but they do say it has to be in on the 1st so I guess you might have to wait. It would have been nice to have sent you a reminder.

@Raven21 - yes but you have to do all specialities. And I don't think anyone is recruiting at the moment.

Yeah I did send the email in time but for some reason the invoice didn't upload properly, it has never happened before. Would think while doing them they could send a short email asking me to resend the invoice, wouldn't have been a hard thing to do. Just hoping I don't have to wait another full month. Will learn from it anyway.

@olddoglover @Marlo52 they changed the invoice cut-off time to the end of day on the last day of the month, not the first anymore.
