Anyone else doing medical transcription at home?

Not much work and low pay but not much choice if you can't go out to work unfortunately.

Any one else finding the work coming through very low and sometimes seems to come through way later in the day when you are wanting to finish for the night?

very slow yes, but at least fairly steady

It's dreadful. Friday was dreadful, hardly anything, especially in the morning. I asked Helpdesk if there was a problem and they asked for a list of the usual clinics I might expect to see to check if they were running, but not had a reply - so I'm guessing the clinics were held but that the work was diverted somewhere else.

yes I agree, Friday was specifically bad. Was wondering what was happening. I think you are right, a lot of work is being diverted.

@Marlo52 I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought so. Sometimes when I see less work than usual I begin to get a bit paranoid about it, wondering if I've made mistakes (although I've not been informed of any) and they rather send someone else the work and not me.

Today is worse than ever and then we have Easter so can't see it picking up much unfortunately

@olddoglover I've managed a lot better than last Friday although I note the number of letters available is dismally low. School holidays starting, but that cannot be the only reason.

Has anyone tried Accuro to work for?

@olddoglover I applied many years ago - I didn't take it forward for various reasons, but mainly - firstly I was told I had to give them my availability for the following week each Friday, which I found restricting and did not allow for illness (I suffer from migraines) or loss of internet connection etc. I note many companies do demand constant 9-5 work and not the casual work such as DICT8.
Also, if work had errors in it, it could be returned to the typist to be redone, without payment. Typists set their own pay levels and I was told the average amount typists charged, however on speaking to others they said the pay worked out very low, as people felt compelled to undercut and price themselves low to get the work. As I say, it was years ago and may have changed.

I did do a bit of work for them a few years ago on top of working for Dict8 at the time. It was more like making a wee bit of pocket money and I had to use my own software. At the time I got paid 40p per minute of audio dictation. That was eight years ago.

Anyone else having problems with their footpedal today? Mine worked this morning on my new laptop, but not after lunch. However, it's not a footpedal problem as I got my old laptop out and it works on there. Very strange. Thanks.

@olddoglover problem with foot pedal? Mine again will not work on my new laptop, but is working (so far) on the my old laptop, which is slow and may give up at any time, but I'm not in the mood for uninstalling and re-installing stuff. Maybe at the weekend...
