Anyone else doing medical transcription at home?

Not much work and low pay but not much choice if you can't go out to work unfortunately.

I had been away and there was a fair bit on Friday afternoon when I looked and then it all disappeared over the weekend

@juju1507 - cannot remember the last time I logged on to 0 work available.

@deewu @Gally123 I knew things were not great before I went away but to come back this morning to zero tasks was unbelievable. At least there are tasks available now thankfully!

Well at least there's more work now. I have noticed a few times when looking back at some of the Mat letters that the name of the transcriber is saying "TEAMA and then a number" - anyone else noticed this? They are for specialties that I have always done. I guess we are being phased out??

@olddoglover - I notice the word "Typist" and a number rather than an actual name and yes work has increased again, thankfully

Really bad all week now. Used to pick up after a bank holiday but not anymore.

Where does all the work go all of a sudden. Do you think they keep the good stuff back to make sure we clear out the dregs for the end of the month or is it being given to other people. Saying that I never seem to get good stuff anymore. It seems to be all poor ones that get left. I never get any communication from TLs anymore either

@carosel2 - I think I've had one message from TL in the last two or three months. Also not sure how this new system of submitting invoices before the new business day. So that means this afternoon/evening, which does not give time for secretaries/dictators to check/edit letters. I found once when I went on holiday and submitted my invoice before the first business day that after the letters I had submitted had been checked etc I was over £6 down on my earnings, which if I had not been on holiday and had submitted my invoice as usual mid day on the 1st business day I would not have lost. There may have been a letter or two in QC but not enough to account for the £6 difference.

I agree it’s a bit dire this week though is half term there as well, not sure if that would affect the amount of work? Probably. TLs only seem to contact these days if there is an urgent task which is fair enough.

@Gally123 -that is really poor, they are supposed to carry over any tasks not checked by QC if they haven't been sorted in time. I've stopped now as I don't want any tasks pending in QC@juju1507 - oh forgot it's half term! Lol even though I look after my grandkids 😄 suppose that could have some impact but still the work load isn't good at the moment.

@carosel2 I think it all depends on the timing - for example, if I submit my invoice at 4pm on the last day of the month as I've got visitors, or have to cook early dinner as going out etc, but I have tasks in QC who might work until 5 or even 6pm to clear their workload, then those tasks are not going to be carried over to next month. That's why I think it was better the way it was, but it sounds like some people just got sloppy and as ever, ruin it for everyone. They should have just stuck to their policy and anything submitted past the deadline gets paid the following month, then people would have submitted on time.

@Gally123 -I think that's shocking. You should send a message saying x amount of characters were not paid for after submitting invoice at such and such time as tasks were still pending QC and cleared later that day so please add on to following month.

Just got back from a week away, can't believe how the work has gone down. There was loads there when I left. I just don't get the whole half term excuse, NHS clinics don't close down for half term. Had a really good month for October before that. Also what is the new rule for invoices, I haven't been told anything different to before so still submit on 1st day of the month but date it the 31st - has that changed?

@olddoglover there was an email went out on 2 October saying now all invoices have to be by the first business day of the month, so in effect, not on 1st day of the month, but on the last day of the month, because some people were late in submitting them (ie, 2nd day of the month), which I don't think gives time for the letters to be accredited properly. So if you have not submitted, do it quickly now as tomorrow will be too late.
The amount of work was dire last week.

Can't be half term as excuse for the lack of work - there's even less today! Barely reaching 20 letters available at any one time.

It’s pretty dire, let’s hope it picks up again very soon.

This is ridiculous regarding work load, what the hell has happened. Where has all the work gone?

I know...I was working sat and just saw the numbers going down and down. Don't know if it's more people working weekends or maybe they are putting them in their WIP to do monday

There wasn't much on Friday to be left for the weekend, was there?
