I've started a new thread, as the old one seemed to have ended. Apologies if I have missed anyone.

May I ask how you check for available work on the system? I.e. sit by computer all day constantly logging in and out?

Gally123 · 06/07/2025 07:48

@Moldol7 - yes. If it is your job that's what people do, they sit and type, and if there is no work they sit and refresh, refresh until there is. They may do a spot of hoovering or something while waiting, but my laptop goes on in the morning and stays on. There is no constant logging in and off, other than I log out of DICT8 (and other typing website) at lunchtime, then log back in again after lunch. If you don't remain logged in you may miss work, and in this job every penny counts as that's all people are paid, pennies.

I have all these errors too but rather than logging in and out, I just refresh by pressing F5 key which is a bit quicker.

Billybea · 06/07/2025 08:35

Yes I've had all the issues as mentioned above. Dict8 are trying to fix the problem and if you just tell Liz that you're having issues she will send out an email to complete a questionnaire to send to IT so that they can gather information. They're very helpful to be honest.

@Cherryblossom114 I had something similar where I would click on a new task and nothing happened, it would freeze and I'd log out and then in again and I'd have the task. Sometimes also when I've started typing several lines the yellow box appears which says someone else has this task and it all freezes. I then log in again and I've still got the task. This one seems to have been cured by deleting the browers history and restarting. I'll give them their due, they are trying really hard to get to the bottom of my issues. That's why I wondered if anyone else is having problems and have they told DICT8?

I raised an issue in the start of the new system but it does not appear to be resolved re the disappearing pointer having to keep clicking back to the point where you stop to relisten and to get going again and someone mentioned about the freeze and having to long out and log back in again yep have that too especially when it rewounds itself.... Just keep calm and carry on. 🤕😊

They can send you feedback that "you type etc etc when it should be bla bla bla" as if you doing it deliberately but cant fixed the effing system to work efficiently...😠

F5....if only dict8 could work that out. How much stress Iv endured. Not called TypoQueen for nothing..lol Thank you.

TypoQueen1 · 09/07/2025 19:14

@Cherryblossom114 glad it worked for you.

This system is driving me insane.
How annoying is it when you start typing a task and then the box informs someone else has it ?? My cursor keeps disappearing ?? the task rewinds itself ?? and again, I have so much dire work with dictation so quiet it cannot be typed. It's coming to the point where I'm ready to give up.

Have you found a solution… I’ve had enough now

Billybea · 30/07/2025 07:42

Yesterday I typed a long task and did the usual saving along the way started getting a red error message a few times but it still said it was saved. I checked it all and went to submit but the error message came up so I had to log out then back in and had lost the last half & had to type it all over again,
yes I'm still getting a delay when typing and the pedal won't stop the voice, they keep on going.

carosel2 · 30/07/2025 09:18

@Billybea - have you thought about copying your text before loghing out so when you log back in to the task you can paste the text back in. Just a thought

i contacted Lisa a few months back but she said she couldn’t help… wondered if anyone else had got any further..

Pinksvilles · 30/07/2025 19:46

@fedup2701
I was halfway through a long letter and that bloody box came up informing me that someone else had the task 😡(not sure how, I'd been on it for 10 minutes) anyway I saved the page and pressed F5 and somehow this kept the task. Not sure whether it was a fluke or not.

The dictation for me is so appalling, so quiet and the volume has to be up to maximum and still that's not enough. It's getting so bad that even pt names, DOB etc are not audible 🙄And no matter how much you inform that office at DICT8 nothing is done. The attitude is dire and as long as their work is no being hindered they just don't give a stuff.

Billybea · 19/08/2025 12:11

It's far too quiet for my liking! They've taken on more transcribers for my speciality too so jobs are getting taken right under my nose before I've even had a chance to look! Ive been accepted by another company as a checker so I might give them a go !

Gally123 · 19/08/2025 15:19

@Billybea - how do you know they have taken on more transcribers in your specialty? It could just be due to the summer holidays. Congrats on being accepted elsewhere though. You don't lose much by giving it a go.

Indiepops · 19/08/2025 15:36

If that box keeps coming up you need to let them know. They're trying to get to the bottom of the bugs in the system and that's one of them. They will only get it sorted if we tell them what's going on our end.

Indiepops · 19/08/2025 15:41

@fedup2701 @Pinksvilles @Billybea sorry I forgot to link you in my comment earlier. Try emailing Liz Lloyd and give as much info as you can. I had to fill in a form for the tech people - seemed like a lot of silly questions but I suppose anything will help. Things have improved but by no means perfect yet!

@Gally123 it was obvious! I have done this job for years then all of a sudden jobs were being snatched within seconds of appearing, I could do a whole clinic before with no problems, now 5 letters appear and they're gone by the time I take one. Plus an old colleague of mine applied and was also taken on when there's not enough work as it is.

Gally123 · 19/08/2025 15:58

@Billybea aah. I wonder how the new staff are coping with all the bugs in the system - or whether they have a different one to use, as otherwise I cannot believe someone new would stay with all the problems.

I’m curious what the company is? I’ve been with Dict8 for 20 years nearly do they even give references?

Pinksvilles · 20/08/2025 14:28

Has everyone been paid this month because I haven't and I'm fuming. 😡

And yes, the work is going as quick as it is coming on, it's lousy dictation on my tasks, still having problems with this stupid system I click on a task and it freezes. Seems to be a different problem every week.

@Indiepops I appreciate your advice but the less contact I have with that woman the better as she enrages me with her condescending attitude. Her reply to everything is "if you cannot do the task then send it back" which is really not helpful 😡

Indiepops · 20/08/2025 16:15

@Pinksvilles Hi I just checked back to May and I've been paid on 1st of each month for most months, 2nd on one.

Pinksvilles · 20/08/2025 17:34

@Indiepops thanks for that. Maybe it's an oversight ?

On the other hand I earned the princely sum of 9.82 pence today after sitting at my computer since 9.30 am !!!!!

Moldol7 · 20/08/2025 17:35

After a number of years I've thrown the towel in. Luckily I didn't do it for the money, rather because I enjoyed keeping my hand in but since I was unable to look on my phone for available work (which wasn't a lot) it meant I had to keep running up and down stairs to look on my laptop every 5 mins to see if any work was on. I felt it was controlling my days 😏

tryingcouchto5K · 22/08/2025 11:14

Pinksville yes, I got paid, my invoice went in a week late due to a holiday but payment went in following day. Does it say if payment is awaited?
I think feedback is increasingly pedantic. I got feedback about using a capital letter for a drug when it should have been lowercase but the spellchecker offered a capital, also, I accidentally typed an extra comma and this got mentioned.

I have made about £5 since 9.00am. Even if 10 jobs come in by the time I have finished a one minute task, the rest have gone.
