How's everyone finding amount of workloads now? Feel like mine has picked up recently to an almost normal level, although still some quiet times in between in a day, but supposed to be roasting next week so will do a few but most at night while watching TV, so I can take some advantage of warmer weather, as don't get that much of it up here in Scotland !!

Hickyjane · 21/06/2024 08:22

I definitely feel work has been a bit more constant recently which is good. Strikes looming again though...

Cherryblossom114 · 25/06/2024 10:12

I'd agree it seems much busier and at the weekends Sat/Sun as well. Could it be the new waves of recruits have given up....!!!

Pinksvilles · 25/06/2024 15:01

Anyone else finding the feedback "well done" emails a bit intense ?

astra9 · 01/07/2024 19:38

Things do seem to have picked up work wise. Still getting checked a lot!

carosel2 · 11/07/2024 11:15

I do hate it when doctors dictate messages to secretaries and nothing else! I just refuse to pick these up for Dict8. There are now three pending on same doctor, can he not see they aren't being touched because of this. This is no new doctor either so he knows the system by now surely that we don't get paid for doing notes to secretaries so they will just get left 😖

Gally123 · 17/07/2024 11:47

having a rant - just been to my GP surgery for blood test, only to be told I had the wrong surgery, and wrong time, even though it was written on my appointment card - and I was treated like I was in the wrong. Had to rebook for another four weeks' time as no way can I walk across town and back to the associated surgery. Grrrr.

@Gally123 - the service is just shocking, my 20 yr old grandson keeps passing out, been going on for months, blood pressure just drops to his boots and has pins and needles, headaches etc, been to A&E three times and sent home just to be told GP will have to refer. Eventually been referred urgently for MRI and cardiology appt. Sent home from holiday job yest (is student at University) and GP told him to ring direct to Cardiology Dept to chase referral (not sure why the GP couldn't chase this). He was told from hospital you will have to wait your turn like everyone else, referral is with triage pending even though they know the history.

Gally123 · 17/07/2024 18:35

@carosel2 and I don't think it is going to get any better. I think a lot of young doctors were hoping for a labour government for a massive pay rise, but I believe they have already been told it won't happen. The trouble is, having worked in the NHS we know what does goes on - and what should happen. When I worked in OPD if a mistake was made as happened to me and the patient had proof - a written appointment card with the location and time on it - we would have tried to squeeze them in, spoken to doctor etc as it was not the patient's fault and as it was just a blood test - they take minutes and the phlebotomist is always running to time. As regards your grandson, you can understand why people contact newspapers in an effort for something to be done (and then hospitals try and blag their way out and say that was not the case, and they are working on it etc).

@Gally123 I totally agree, the whole NHS is in dire straits and people are suffering badly. My grandson is 20, he shouldn't be having things like this at his age, we have MND in the family and Parkinson's. He is dropping things too. All these things have been mentioned and no one seems to looking at any urgency here but like you say, if any problems happen the hospital will just blag their way out of the situation somehow. Sorry you have had to wait another four weeks for your bloods that is just disgusting, I mean why does it take four weeks to book you back in, you should have been done immediately seeing as they cocked up!

Pinksvilles · 19/07/2024 17:07

My husband's BP dropped and he had dizzy spells took for ever to get 48 hour ECG recorder. I have stomach problems. Booked in for a test on a date that I could not make, cancelled it in good time, was given another appointment, then the consultant stepped in and kicked me off his list and is refusing to accept me back on even though I cancelled in good time ??? The NHS in our area is appalling and PALS told me they have so many complaints that their staff are leaving in droves as they have had enough of the shit-show (not their words 😂but that's what I gathered)

carosel2 · 20/07/2024 11:35

@Pinksvilles its terrible everywhere, anyone who relies on NHS I fear for their health - it just does not get any better, and I am fed up with the lot of it. I have a brilliant GP but my grandson is under one of the worst. We thought of PALS but mum is a midwife and obviously with working for NHS myself we both said what can they do, they are fighting a battle themselves. Can't see if getting any better either

Pinksvilles · 23/07/2024 18:38

Anyone else getting their worked checked excessively ?

Gally123 · 23/07/2024 21:45

@Pinksvilles - not at the moment, but I have in the past - feedback up to twice a day, every day for a week and then it suddenly stopped, but which time I felt like throwing in the towel.
