Not much work and low pay but not much choice if you can't go out to work unfortunately.

@Carosel2 - here's the new thread.
@olddoglover - slightly concerned but covered it by going in the garden instead while the weather is fine. DICT8 has been very poor as well this week.

juju1507 · 30/07/2024 17:07

I agree the work is very slow this week. Clinics seem to have disappeared again!

carosel2 · 30/07/2024 17:24

Yep down to scrapings yet again!

1AnotherOne · 30/07/2024 17:26

Hi what is this job please? I am clinical working in the private sector and must say it’s very quiet at the minute

Gally123 · 30/07/2024 17:40

@1AnotherOne - it's working from home, typing. DICT8 is a medical transcription company, there's also Accuro and WeType as well. I've tried Wetype and would not recommend it as you need your own software.

Thanks. Is it contracted hours or could you do it ad hoc when free?

Gally123 · 30/07/2024 20:05

@1AnotherOne each company differs - DICT8 you can work as and when, WeType I had to stipulate mornings or afternoons and they wanted a minimum set hours each week (ie 30 hours per week) and I think Accuro is much the same, when I spoke to them I was told I would have to indicate my availability the week before, but I never signed with them in the end so things might have changed.

Thanks. Do you need to have experience as a medical secretary? I am clinical working in theatre with 16 years medical experience. I have good computer skills, fast typer, have an IT qualification and also competent in deciphering medical abbreviations and understanding strong varying accents. I know I’d be capable but like I say no secretarial experience as such.

1AnotherOne · 30/07/2024 20:32

ahh never mind just read their website and they want experienced secretaries only.

Gally123 · 30/07/2024 20:34

@1AnotherOne yes, you need med sec experience, for example DICT8 is something like 5 years plus a reference from your consultant.

olddoglover · 01/08/2024 20:17

And suddenly there's loads of work, think there's been an IT glitch

OP posts:
Gally123 · 01/08/2024 20:19

@olddoglover I've done lots of letters where they said they had no access to notes/results/bloods tests etc as IT was down.

OptimismvsRealism · 01/08/2024 20:22

Wait so this is an outsourcing service that hands patients' information to people outside the clinics they've attended?

Gally123 · 01/08/2024 21:29

@OptimismvsRealism - you're clearly not a medical secretary who are usually based outside the clinic scenario.

carosel2 · 02/08/2024 09:33

Yes must have been a glitch. I suppose these things happen but all good again!

Gally123 · 04/08/2024 09:07

not been paid yet, so will be Tuesday or Wednesday now.

olddoglover · 04/08/2024 12:28

@Gally123 Oh no, I'd forgotten the bank holiday, thanks for reminding me!

OP posts:
carosel2 · 04/08/2024 16:20

@Gally123 - me too! Fingers crossed its Tuesday!

olddoglover · 05/08/2024 06:22

we've been paid - must have been in the system from Friday

OP posts:
carosel2 · 05/08/2024 06:33

@olddoglover - yes.Im.well happy, did.not expect that at all.was thinking more Tuesday but they must have been quick off the mark to get that sorted. ☺️

deewu · 05/08/2024 08:29

@olddoglover thanks for starting the new thread. There was something strange as work also appeared on Saturday afternoon from Friday!

Yeah..bit like the government selling off our medical records to strangers for a profit....how you feel about that !

carosel2 · 05/08/2024 18:59

spoke too soon about quantity, list going down again fast!!

Portakalkedi · 05/08/2024 19:06

Does it stipulate you must have been a medical secretary? I am a former (non medical) secretary and English teacher - any point in me applying?
