I've started a new thread, as the old one seemed to have ended. Apologies if I have missed anyone.

Sorry, should have explained better, it's Alt N for Doctor if I 'can't quite make them out' I've been getting the feedback on what it is I can't make out

Workingfromhomenow · 25/09/2024 20:03

@cathyk2002 I had one today telling me that the proofreaders had been able to make out something that I couldn’t. I remember that task as it was only today and it really was terrible dictation. It makes me not want to bother doing any of the awful ones, which I usually do try to have a go at. Also annoying to get feedback for spelling mistake for putting a hyphen in a word!

Yep, we don't have anyone we can 'bounce' off trying to make something out and that is only a small thing compared to the entirety of a letter

Pinksvilles · 30/09/2024 16:26

This company needs to increase the pay per line.

The work offered is not enough and I am constantly below the minimum wage whilst sitting waiting for work that comes along one task every 15 minutes. It hasn't been the same since they lost Guy's and St Thomas'

Waste of time and effort.

cathyk2002 · 04/10/2024 12:05

Pinksvilles · 04/10/2024 19:08

Same as and the work is appalling. I used to love being a med sec but the terrible dictation etc - just done with this now

Gally123 · 10/10/2024 15:33

Just copied this from the BBC website about the new changes proposed

  • Zero-hours contracts
Zero-hours contracts are also known as casual contracts. Workers are not guaranteed hours from employers, but they also do not have to work when asked. Under the new legislation, company bosses will be required to offer a zero-hours worker a guaranteed-hours contract based on the hours they clock up during a 12-week period. Employees who prefer having a zero-hours contract will be able to remain on those terms if they want to - the change is that they will have the right for guaranteed working hours if they want them. Workers on zero-hours contracts will also be entitled to "reasonable" notice ahead of any changes being made to their shifts, as well as compensation if a shift is cancelled or ended early.

So anyone with low work levels from DICT8 will have the right to ask for guaranteed work (although I dare say not guaranteed quality of work).
Umm, I wonder. If work is spare in the 12 week period, how can they offer a decent contract?
No guarantee on pay etc although I suppose with guaranteed work you should be paid a decent amount.

and this

Zero-hours workers must be paid at least the National Minimum Wage and are entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year, or 28 days for a standard five-day work week. Holiday pay is based on the average weekly earnings over the previous 52 weeks, excluding unpaid weeks. You can be entitled to sick pay if you normally earn more than £112 a week before tax and have worked regularly for the same employer.

How much the National UK living wage rises for millions of workers in April

The new minimum wage will affect at least two million workers - here's how much you should be getting an hour

Whitestar55 · 16/10/2024 17:38

We are classed as freelancers, not 0 hours workers. 0 hours workers are classed as employees. This doesn't apply to the self employed such as us.

Anyone else having trouble logging in this morning? Every time I try it just reverts to the log in screen with the message "you have been logged out" it does not say my password is incorrect or anything.

Have people been paid yet ? I put my invoice in early am and still nothing in my bank. Why is it this company moves the goalposts every month ??? I'm told get it in on the 1st early and you will be paid quickly. No you don't.

Doglover6109 · 01/11/2024 14:27

@Pinksvilles

Hi, I put my invoice in yesterday evening and got paid pretty quickly this morning. I hope they sort it out for you.

Gally123 · 01/11/2024 17:15

@Pinksvilles I put my invoice in about 10am and when I checked at 4pm had been paid.

Indiepops · 01/11/2024 18:45

Same here, similar timescale for the last couple of months. :)

tryingcouchto5K · 05/11/2024 09:20

I put my invoice in at the end of the 1st and got paid yesterday, the 4th. A few months ago, due to a holiday, I submitted on about the 8th and didn't get paid at all that month but got it the following month. I always put in on the 1st now.

Gally123 · 05/11/2024 12:26

@tryingcouchto5K - that's bad that they did not pay you - did you query it with them? Now I try not to go away on holiday around the 1st of the month as with another company I had to put my invoice in a week early as they do not allow late invoices, however because of this the invoice did not include all checked work and I ended up being underpaid for the work completed.

OP posts:
tryingcouchto5K · 05/11/2024 12:33

Gally123 I didn't, I should have really, I just kept checking and it was still in the submitted phase. When I submitted the following month's invoice, they paid me for both months. The date of payment that is recorded on Dict8 is the date I had originally submitted the invoice! It was less than 200 but much needed nonetheless. I can't afford to have that happen again so I have put it in on the 1st since without problem.

Chriscal · 06/11/2024 10:12

I all but give up on Dict8 - audio is practically inaudible and they pick me up on lack of paragraphs! There were three in a one minute dictation. I really do not feel it is worth the stress.

Gally123 · 14/11/2024 16:17

Anyone seen that new pop up message when you log on? I had a look but it was all beyond me. It mentioned a system similar to that which banks use but my bank just uses passwords to log on (3 different ones) and then my landline if extra verification is needed. I fear I shall have to stop working for them if I need to scan a QR code to log on in future.

OP posts:
TypoQueen1 · 14/11/2024 16:22

@Gally123 You can choose to have a code sent to your mobile phone instead which is what I've done.

Gally123 · 14/11/2024 16:24

@TypoQueen1 but what happens for all those people who do not have a mobile phone?

OP posts:
TypoQueen1 · 14/11/2024 16:28

@Gally123 Sorry I don't know the answer to that.

Lollybaz · 14/11/2024 19:48

It's long overdue. Good for Dict8.

Gally123 · 15/11/2024 08:15

@Lollybaz thanks - so you think it's great that people like me will be out of a job and unable to earn.
