CQC interview

Ainsleysbbqbible · 29/02/2024 17:31

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

Fingers crossed everything progresses quickly for you, do you have a preference of when you’d like to start?

it would be so lovely if we could maybe create some kind of group chat for those of us who are starting for a bit of support.

Thank you! I'd like to start as soon as possible, I do have a 1 month notice to work and I haven't handed my notice in as not heard from HR yet. What about you any ideas of a start date?

Yes you're right that would be nice. I have tried to message you privately however it won't let me.

@MyCraftyCat @Rachandmickey@iosc2418 @Mary322 the thread seems to have gone quiet. Hope you're all doing well. Anyone else heard back yet??? Xx

I'm so sorry to hear that. Has it been 4 weeks since your interview? Also have you tried to call instead? Try not to lose hope, it has been a very slow process and hopefully they will be in touch soon x

Hi everyone!! Just thought I'd jump on this thread as I've just spent the last 30 mins reading it 😅
I've just applied for an inspector role for the south network. I was gutted because they extended the closing date until the 31st and I wanted to hear by now 😂 although it sounds like it's a looonnggg process!! I had previously been shortlisted for the written exercise last year but had to decline as I was on training 😑
Hopefully for this time 🤞🏻🤞🏻 x

Hey Everyone,
I am really glad I came across this thread, as I applied for the inspector role back in Nov 2024, I done my written assessments in early Feb and now have a pending interview next month. It's been such a long process and now I am wondering if this is even worth it all. I just had a look on the career site again and I see they are still hiring despite basically not having enough roles. Although this was not on the job AD when I applied last year; I'm still worried this will also affect me. "Please note that we may not have immediate vacancies within the Network area for all successful candidates.
If you are successful following interview and there is not an immediate vacancy in your Network area, we will seek your permission to contact you if a suitable position arises."

What has onboarding been like for everyone else ?

How long after you have submitted your written exercise did you hear back? I have been waiting for 2 weeks now and applied for ASC london

I dropped them an email after 4 weeks and they apologized for delay but they were also able to tell me I was successful in the written assessment and they sent me a further email about a week later with a interview date

Jephrito · 28/03/2025 22:22

I had my oral interview on 11th March, and emailed them on 21st about the outcome and timelines. They responded within about 2 hours to tell me I had been successful and they would be in touch with in 4 weeks. I will contact them again in the 3rd week to see check on progress. I applied in December, completed the written assessment in Feb and had my oral interview in March. Indeed a slow and painful process.

ChirpySquid · 28/03/2025 22:24

I applied in November (closing date was Dec)
I did written assessment in 2nd week of January and heard back 3.5 weeks later.
Had my interview on 21st February and heard back a week later that I'd been successful. After a week and a half they called and said I had a conditional offer. Then another week and a half to hear from HR but onboarding process has been so far so good.

Rachandmickey · 29/03/2025 16:03

Hi Guys, I wasnt successful at interview, I wasnt too suprised as I was shaking like jelly!! I found out a few days afterwards. I requested feedback which was very useful. It stated that my examples provided could have demonstrated the STAR model better and I used the the word We more often than I! My overall score was just over 70%. It was good for future reference and Im proud i tried to conquer my nerves 🤣🤣. I may reapply in some time, because I think interview practice will be beneficial. Good luck all, I hope you get the result you wish for xxx

Jephrito · 31/03/2025 20:21

I received a call today about a conditional offer and minutes later I received an email with a link for ID verification. I was told that depending that the onboarding and start date will depend on how long my references take to come back. So far so good in terms of progress.

Definitely prepare various STAR scenarios linked to the different aspects of the job description, someone else advised this and it was very helpful in interview. Good luck for your interview!

Did people wait a long time before even finding out if they were shortlisted for the written exercise? Just curious if it's got any quicker at all as last year it was literally months, by which time I'd applied for and started a new job 😂
This closing date was only Monday so I won't hold my breath 🙈 x

I waited 6 weeks after closing date to find out id been shortlisted for written assessment.
This was during the Christmas/New Year period so they did send out an email end of Dec to update and let us know due to staff shortages over the festive period we would hear back soon.

Which sector/region have you applied for?
Best of luck!

Thank you so much. I hope you manage to get through tomorrow sometimes the phone does tend to ring on and on but you will eventually get through. I'm not too sure as I went for full time hours and I don't have any kids but they seem very flexible and I discussed with them the option of compressed hours. I think they prefer the 12 week Induction to be completed 9-5 Monday- Friday but after that they said I can request compressed hours. I think someone in the thread has queried with them regarding childcare etc @Peony1690maybe??
They definitely seem like a very good and flexible employer, hope you get some more answers tomorrow. Xx

5 months!! It's such a long time isn't it, I've never been through such a cattle market process before 😂🙈 exciting that you start soon though!! You'll have to let us know how you get on, i actually don't know anyone that works for the CQC so haven't been able to get any insight at all! Fingers crossed it's the right move for everyone 🤞🏻
If anyone fancied keeping in touch in a WhatsApp group let me know, always nice to have a bit of support (this is me hoping I actually get through through the process 😂) x
