CQC interview

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

It took them 5 months to make an offer and allocate me to a team and another 5 months for me to start.
It's a very long process altogether, so maybe look at finding some temporary opportunities until onboarding is complete. I remember I was going crazy waiting but I'm glad I did in the end. I've only just started so can't provide much feedback, but the team seems really great, nothing like recruitment and HR!

Oh my gosh can not believe the wait you had so from this there is no point handing my notice in until I get the formal offer or maybe even a month after that I can't afford to not have a wage coming in

once I was given my onboarding person, I completed all docs and checks within two weeks and was then given a start date based on my notice period which was 1 month.
Early days, I am enjoying it. A very big organisation and a lot to learn.
where are you in the process?

SWmum26 · 04/09/2025 10:28

Found out I passed the interview today! Just waiting to find out if there are any roles in my area (which is another hurdle) but atleast happy to know the outcome 😊

Thank you! Yep took a while, and only got the news because I called them again. They did apologise for not having let me know sooner though!

Glad to hear things are progressing well for everyone! Don’t know if people will remember, I was added to a wait list for RC - midlands earlier in the year.
Someone, I can’t remember who now, sorry, urged me to apply for a secondary care inspector role in the midlands. I applied months ago and had heard nothing so had given up. Today I’ve been invited to complete the written assessment for that role! So thank you to whoever you were.
I wont get my hopes up too much but just to get this far is good for my confidence.

Congratulations! Same happened for me. Think the HR team have had loads of leave over summer- which has lead to longer waiting times!
