CQC interview

Ainsleysbbqbible · 29/02/2024 17:31

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

Thank you, will do.
During the interview, one of the interviewer said brilliant few times after I answered so I had high hopes.
Will definitely try again.

@ThePoliteViper thats really frustrating. If you call them they can tell you what points you scored for both the assessment and the interview and that might help you for any future applications you make. Best of luck to you

I applied for the inspector role at the beginning of the year, did the written assessment in May, was interviewed on teams in June and told this month (July) I was successful, I have asked how long the onboarding takes and I was told there is a back log so bare with them. Good luck to everyone else going through the same 🙌🏻

In exactly the same position except applied in Feb. It's just being patient now - it seems like a big recruitment campaign and they seem super busy so I'm trying to trust the process!

Titasaducksarse · 28/07/2025 13:46

Interesting as no written assessment to join equivalent body in Wales!

Holski · 28/07/2025 16:30

@Nurseposter123 maybe we will be in the same cohort, which area did you apply for? I applied for Oxfordshire but all info now states the south so maybe quite a bit of travelling

Nurseposter123 · 28/07/2025 18:08

I'm south too! Would be good if we were in induction together although suspect everything is online!

I really struggled the first couple of weeks checking the portal and keeping my phone on loud but I'm 7 (yes SEVEN) weeks post interview and have given up a bit just waiting

Hi, can I ask what number you used to call HR? I tried one they called me on but couldn’t get through at all!

ImWithYou · 31/07/2025 12:50

@Kymrai how are you getting on with your onboarding? It's been around 7 weeks since my conditional offer, filled out all the forms as soon as they asked but no closer to a start date it seems. I've chased and chased but the emails often go unanswered. It's like pulling hens teeth. Feeling frustrated with it all especially as I've given up opportunities at my current work for this.

@ImWithYou thats really strange as mine has been very quick with contact every other day. As soon as my DBS came back which was about three days later, my reference had also gone to CQC and they immediately discussed a start date with me.
Do you have a named on boarding person allocated to you?

ImWithYou · 31/07/2025 13:35

I do have a dedicated onboarding person who I've been emailing but sometimes it's a week or so before I get a reply, a few have gone unanswered altogether. I've sent another one this afternoon but not holding my breath for a response. I will try emailing the general HR email if no reply by the end of the week.

Lady74 · 31/07/2025 15:56

The whole process has been so long! I sent all my paperwork off on Monday but haven’t heard anything yet and they didn’t confirm receipt……… I hope it’s not months to wait again …. I have to give 3 months notice as well so at this rate it will be 2026 🙈

xxMsFxx · 01/08/2025 09:08

Sounds like everyone is still having fun and games with the waiting game! Well I was told a few weeks ago that I had passed everything and they were waiting for the directors to allocate me a position (assuming there is one) and that’s it, no further update! I’ve called several times but just get told they’re still waiting for a decision from directors. I’m starting to lose the will and feel really disappointed about it. I desperately want the job but the longer it’s dragged on the more disheartened I’m feeling. I stopped working in May, turned down a few opportunities and enjoyed some time off but now I really do need to get back into work and need to know if there’s a job for me or not as if there isn’t I’m missing out on finding something else and at the same time I don’t want to start something else and then this happens and I have to leave. It’s really frustrating. Hope some of you have had some more positive updates

It's good to hear from others in the same position. This thread has been a good support! I too really want this job but can't help but feel disheartened. I was hopeful once the offer came in that things would move quickly. I do wonder if they occasionally check this thread because not long after I posted I had an email from my HR buddy after 2 weeks of radio silence.

@Kymrai thank you for the phone number, I will keep it saved if I need to call.

Lady74 · 01/08/2025 13:50

have they given you a start date now @ImWithYou

Not yet. I believe it's just my references we are waiting on now not helped by the fact a request was sent to the completely wrong person (not sure how they managed that, assume they mixed up my forms with someone else) so the wait goes on. Bare in mind I had given the the details of my referees back in June 😑

Lady74 · 01/08/2025 14:46

good grief 🙈….. honestly this thread has kept me sane all these months…. The waiting has been a nightmare!

It took them 5 months to make an offer and allocate me to a team and another 5 months for me to start.
It's a very long process altogether, so maybe look at finding some temporary opportunities until onboarding is complete. I remember I was going crazy waiting but I'm glad I did in the end. I've only just started so can't provide much feedback, but the team seems really great, nothing like recruitment and HR!

Titasaducksarse · 03/08/2025 07:52

What backgrounds do you all have that has led to you applying, out of interest? I've applied in Wales and have a Social Work background.
Also may I ask re starting pay and what you've been offered? Thanks.

xxMsFxx · 03/08/2025 08:22

@TheDeftHedgehog oh my goodness, that’s an immense amount of time!! You must have had the patience of a saint! It’s really hard to start something else knowing you have no intention of staying but if it’s going to be that long I don’t think I will have much choice! Thank you for your feedback ☺️

@ImWithYou have they given you your region yet?
on the provisional I was given an area about 1 hour away and on the final offer it states another region 2.5hrs away!!
I don’t know what you do 😒

The starting pay is on the add, when you apply
