CQC interview

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

@253011M i was looking for others who did the same interview for ages! To be honest I was really conflicted with the written assessment and the decision to make but I guess as long as you justify what you’re doing and why then I guess it’s okay! How did you find the interview itself x

253011M · 16/07/2025 11:55

Yes so was I and also feel that it was expecting a lot if you have never done anything like that before if that makes sense ? I found the interview good not was I was expecting or what I prepared for 🤣🤣🤣 what about you? X

Deebies · 16/07/2025 11:59

Yes I felt the same! Just felt like we were expected to do the job role under time pressure without having any prior experience of it but it was okay! The interview itself was good but yeah I agree nothing I prepared for annoyingly

Hi everyone. So I had my interview on the 7th. No update yet and the wait is torture. I’ve just noticed that my application says it was last modified today but still says in review. Do I take this as a positive or a negative? Thanks for your help

Lady74 · 17/07/2025 20:40

Take it as a positive….. they updated mine a couple of times before I found out about the job offer 🥰 they seem to let people know quicker if they haven’t been successful I think x

ThePoliteViper · 18/07/2025 08:21

Hi All,
I had an interview very recently. I am unable to access the advert, as it is closed. Does anyone remember the salary for an ASC inspector in London and the East of England?
Thank you

xxMsFxx · 18/07/2025 09:36

@ThePoliteViper i believe it’s £39,000 (and something) unless you’re in London then it’s £45k

xxMsFxx · 18/07/2025 09:37

@ThePoliteViper have you had an update yet? I called Cqc recruitment this morning and they said it’s still saying “at interview stage” she went on to say it’s a big campaign and we could be waiting several more weeks 😩 the waiting is so hard!

ThePoliteViper · 18/07/2025 09:42

Not yet, mine was just week ago. So I guess it is going to be quite a while for me to hear. Thank you for the info regarding the wages. Did you apply for Londo and East of England too?

xxMsFxx · 18/07/2025 11:33

@ThePoliteViper yes I did. I’m based in Norfolk. The long process is so difficult. I think I would feel better if they gave a decision even if we were told a start date wasn’t until September but just do know either way. I don’t know about you but I find myself constantly second guessing whether I will have passed or not and trying not to get my hopes up too much in case after all this wait it’s a no. Good luck to you and please let me know if you hear anything x

ThePoliteViper · 18/07/2025 11:38

Same here. Not knowing what to plan next and what to expect is stressing out. I will be away for 3 weeks in August also. Hoping for the best outcome. I will definitely update here if I hear from them. Good luck to you.

SWmum26 · 21/07/2025 13:11

Hi all, just read all of this thread. I’ve had a nightmare with the whole recruitment process with them cancelling interviews last minute and then not doing what they said they would in interview. BUT I would still love to work in this inspector role. Had my interview last week and from the sounds of it, I may not be hearing anytime soon 😂 has anyone else applied for north west role?

xxMsFxx · 21/07/2025 13:13

I called recruitment today! I passed the interview! They said it’s now with Directors to see if there are spaces in my area. Here’s hoping! 🤞🏼

Lady74 · 21/07/2025 18:24

That’s great news …. Well done 🥰 what area are you based in? I did my RTW on Thursday for inspector covering east of inland and London and am now waiting for HR to contact me …. They’ve said this will be within 5 working days so fingers crossed!

xxMsFxx · 21/07/2025 18:31

@Lady74 also London and East of England. Just hoping and praying they have a space for me. Fingers crossed they come back to you this week! Maybe our paths will cross in the future

Congratulations, well done.
Is it the 3rd week after the interview they confirmed. I had mine a week ago.

xxMsFxx · 21/07/2025 18:56

@ThePoliteViper Thank you. It was exactly two weeks ago today that I interviewed. I contacted them myself this morning and was told the outcome. I would maybe give them a call and see if they have any news?

I had mine last Monday, May be I will call them next Monday. As I have mentioned mine is also for London and east of England.

Lady74 · 22/07/2025 06:20

Hopefully this part of the process will be a bit quicker …… will keep you all posted 🥰

Yawninmum · 22/07/2025 14:25

This lengthy topic has kept me going over the past few months... I applied in May, have completed the written and interview and am now in the most awful turmoil waiting... I was interviewed on the 2nd.. it's an awful wait! I've just emailed for an update as I was on hold to the recruitment line then got cut off... It certainly seems that anyone who has been successful has to earn their stripes!!!

xxMsFxx · 22/07/2025 18:49

@Yawninmum I got cut off twice too but stuck with it to get through. Best of luck x

Thanks for this. I found out today I passed and have been allocated a team but I wouldn't have thought to call so appreciate the tip!

Congratulations!!! 🥂

Hi guys,
I hope you are all well. I have finally heard back from cqc this week! And I got the job!
i got an email this afternoon to say I had passed the interview. So timeline wise just in case anyone else needs it, today makes it exactly a month after interview that I found out.
I had no luck with emailing recruitment team but I was able to get through on the phone line twice and was told they were still in interview. I hope this helps anyone else.
thank you to the ladies that replied me with your experience. Take Care xx

Congratulations. Could you please share some possible questions for this inspector role if you don't mind?
