CQC interview

Ainsleysbbqbible · 29/02/2024 17:31

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

@ImWithYou I went for two roles Inspector & RC
Inspector- passed everything but they don’t have a post in my geographical area at present so have put me on the ‘offer ready’ list.
RC offered yesterday and did my RTW check today. Am I right in saying you have got the RC post? What region have they told you, your covering? Mine in Coventry & Warwickshire.

Well done on being successful for both! It's the RC post I got. I applied for the Midlands region but they haven't given any specifics just yet.

I applied to an inspector role and interviewed 3 weeks ago. Any chance anyone else has heard back or knows if this wait is good or bad? It feels so long! I'm also reluctant to apply to anything else in the meantime.

Oh wow!
what checks does the on boarding entail? Is there anything I can start chasing/ doing now so it’s quicker?
How many references do you have to provide because I have worked in my current role 10yrs and my two previous employments were charity’s and no longer exist

After your ID checks is complete, you will receive a welcome message from the HR department. If you have done your ID checks and yet to get back from them, then you can chase them up. Although, it may take some days, mine took like 6 working days. Concerning the reference, I think your current role should be enough since it’s over 10years. Then all other things will just be you filling various forms and DBS checks too.

Did you recieve an email after the phone call of offer? If you look on there it tells you the region you will be covering. We might be on the same Team :-)

South network so similar location as can be utilised in London too if successful. I'm just going to try and be patient I guess - it's just hard to have no timeline! Fingers crossed for us both

Lady74 · 18/06/2025 14:41

From all of the posts it seems that the recruitment process is loooong. My profile is still saying in review rather than closed so I’m taking that as a good thing 😂

d3gug · 19/06/2025 19:33

This thread is so helpful. I'm also waiting for an interview but was reading reviews about CQC and got really concerned about the work environment, lack of support, bullying, etc that were mentioned in the reviews. These were all from people who work for CQC.
Those of you who started.... what are you finding so far? Is the workload manageable? What does it entail in a month for example? Thank you for sharing x

xxMsFxx · 23/06/2025 16:48

Sorry to jump on to this thread and hope noone minds. I completed my assessment for Cqc inspector role last week and was told today that I met the benchmark for interview (yay) no date yet though. I’m so worried about the interview, is it difficult? I really, really want this and don’t want to mess up so any advice anyone can offer would be hugely appreciated. Also, has anyone passed assessment and still failed at interview stage? Thanks for reading

Mrsmiddie · 23/06/2025 16:58

I emailed to ask for an update last Tuesday and nothing recieved as yet. What’s strange though is that a previous application I made for another role but got rejected at application stage was accessed on Friday. But the one for RC has still not been changed since a week after interview.
I think I’ve lost all hope now. Would be nice just to be updated though. 😟

I applied for regulatory coordinator so it’s a different interview but I found that the fact they like the START method of answering questions was mentioned a lot by other people. Good luck with your interview. Can I ask what the assessment involved?

xxMsFxx · 23/06/2025 17:06

@Mrsmiddie when they email you the written assessment it tells you that you’re not allowed to discuss what is involved. All I can say is that I expected to have to write some sort of report as if an inspector….whether or not I was correct I will let you decide!!!!

xxMsFxx · 23/06/2025 18:34

I have just read that the interview involves a written test and you have to do a presentation? Is this the same even if interviewing via teams?

Hi
Yes, you do the written assessment and then present it at interview. Don’t worry, it’s not difficult if you work in this sector already

xxMsFxx · 23/06/2025 21:34

@Kymrai I’ve already done a written assessment which I passed. Now I have an interview (although no date yet) so do I do another assessment?

Oh! Sorry
what role did you apply for as the Inspector role normally requires a written assessment weeks before interview and the RC role is on the day, an hour before interview start time

xxMsFxx · 24/06/2025 11:04

@Kymrai it’s for Inspector. I’ve already done the written assessment and passed and now have an interview but not sure what to expect during the interview?

Hi
It will be a number of competency based questions. I would advise you to go through the JD and think of examples you can give using the STAR method.
situation
task
action
result
hope this helps

I did but no information as to which team yet unfortunately. I've had an e-mail today from HR to complete the pre-employment checks so hopefully things will move quickly from here on in. @Mrsmiddie sorry to see you still haven't heard back, it's an extremely long time to be waiting for the outcome. I wouldn't lose hope just yet, from what I gather recruitment are snowed under at the moment so there are long delays.

Mrsmiddie · 24/06/2025 13:49

@ImWithYou Thank you. I finally heard just now. I passed the benchmark but they don’t have enough posts for everyone that did so I’ve been put on a waiting list should anything come up.

To say I’m disappointed is an understatement after all this waiting but I believe if it’s not meant to be then it must be for a reason.

Im so pleased to have shared the journey with you all though!

ImWithYou · 24/06/2025 14:00

Oh no...that is incredibly disappointing, especially given how long you've waited. Well done on passing the benchmark though, you should be proud of yourself as it's not the easiest of processes. I hope they will be able to offer you something soon.

xxMsFxx · 24/06/2025 16:53

@Mrsmiddie they seem to do this a lot! It’s like they’re advertising but don’t actually have a role and then if you pass the interview you go on a “waiting list”. I too am worried I will be in the same position (assuming I pass interview) and like you will be devastated. Hopefully they will have something available for you really soon! Also, well done for passing the bench mark x

Was it for RC role? What region? As I know my region is very busy
