I am thinking of trying Match Betting my self. I don't want to spend all my time doing survey sites for a pittance.

I joined tester-up playing games to a level. But you need id verification or you lose your money. Surveys seem to be little amounts for a lot of data and time. And like some say you get to the end , and its timed out.

I play some iPhone games - not for cash though. How do ai go about earning money as I play?

Can anyone break down what Matched Betting is please?

I used to do matched betting. Made about £6k before getting gubbed by most of the bookies. Now I do Qmee and Prolific surveys. I make between £50 and £100 a month for not much effort. I sometimes sell bits on Vinted aswell when I can be arsed 😆

How long did it take you to start making decent money and when you say you made 6k - was that over a year or longer
Thank you

ShanghaiDiva · 24/02/2024 18:35

I have made over 4K on matched betting over three years, but only really do football offers.

I belong to a few product testing sites. We get free items but most do not let you sell the items/ and some ppl get kicked for it.

I'd love to test products. How do I do this? I used to be in a beauty panel but think I'm too old for them now (47)

CherryRipe1 · 24/02/2024 19:27

I used to do Prolific and Qmee but now just sell the odd random bits on eBay. Just did a quick skim read of how matched betting works and it's quite interesting. I think I get the general jist of it. Say you do a freebie win on Man U with say William Hill then bet on a lose with a matched betting company what happens if it's a draw?

twingiraffes · 24/02/2024 20:33

DH started teaching the guitar as a side hustle. It is now his main hustle, and he has semi-retired from his day job.

My end goal is to have enough to pay some debt, and to buy a small piece of land for about 1-2k. I checked and its possible to buy at that price. I am thinking of holding table top sales each month. I know they will be other costs involved with that idea.

Can't see a post explaining what you'll do with the land?

I am a single parent and struggle with one wage so I work 9 - 5 and two evenings a week work 7pm - 1am for community nursing.
Tides me over but the tax on the evening job is frustrating.

Please don't confuse tax. Your tax on your jobs is the same, but you will be using all your personal allowance on your main job. That's all. 😊

Thankyou for your reply.

So anything I earn after my personal allowance on main job is basic rate taxed? Is that correct?

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 24/02/2024 20:45

@Sunshineandrainbow yes. That's correct. 😊

Match betting. Risky and not guaranteed.
Easy to get carried away and addicted then resulting in a loss.

I don't have a side hustle as such, but I do have a large amount of stuff so always selling on vinted.

Matched betting is absolutely guaranteed. That's the whole point.
You're betting for both something to happen and not to happen. One bet will always win.
But! You can't make a mistake, and should be fooled into doing "real" bets.

Well, if you've done it properly you'll actually be betting the following;

Bet 1: 50p Man Utd WIN Against Liverpool
Bet 2: 50p Man Utd DON'T WIN against Liverpool.

If the final score is 1-1, the Man Utd didn't win (they drew), so Bet 2 should pay out.

CherryRipe1 · 24/02/2024 20:56

@wubwubwub Ah I see! Thank you 🙏

Can anyone break down what Matched Betting is please?

Essentially
You bet on both outcomes of an event

Something happens or that same thing doesn't happen.

Eg.
Bet 1: Man Utd WIN against Liverpool
Bet 2: Man Utd DON'T win against Liverpool

You bet 50p on each outcome. And one of them will win, so money.

You have to find odds similar odds for each eventuality and you use free bets to make sure there's never any of your money being spent.

I have a website that runs adsense and affiliate links. I set it up 5ish years ago and add to it every now and then but it's pretty much a passive income.

@lostoldname

Did you just contact your local council or what?

I'd be interested in looking into it.

Contact your local council - they will advice you how to contact “elections” you’ll need ID etc

election is happening this year and they struggle to get people

Are you saying that the table top sales will be held on the land? I think people (including me) have read it as that you are thinking of holding table top sales to make the £1-2k that you are aiming to raise.

dawngreen · 24/02/2024 21:25

Sorry no I said that I want use the money I get from match betting or some other hustle to buy the land. Then charge £10 each tabletop and do that each month.

Quick query- once you’ve used the betting site’s free bet (for joining up) what happens then? Surely they don’t constantly give out free bets do they- So where does the money come from to continue doing it? (Sorry if that’s a stupid question 😂)

JS5 · 24/02/2024 21:51

I think the Idea is that because you are using the fre bets after the initial investment if £10 to get £10 of free bets, you take out your £10 from winnings, and use the money win to continue betting.
So you don't ever 'lose/use' your own money after that.
