@Gally123 Well she was the first to point out that DICT8 had lost the Guy's and St Thomas account? and seemed to know how much DICT8 charge per line when we all know how cagey DICT8 are about discussing money. On the other hand, she was having a moan about the foreign doctors in one post last year and was looking for another job - so who knows. And yes, I did go back and have a look because I felt suspicious 😂

Gally123 · 17/04/2024 15:31

@Pinksvilles 👏👏

EleanorLea · 17/04/2024 15:36

I am 22 weeks pregnant and have just been diagnosed with gastritis/stomach ulcer. Am in absolute agony with it.

Have been prescribed a number of different antacid tablets to take but is there anything else anyone knows of that can help with this?

carosel2 · 17/04/2024 15:44

@EleanorLea - I would take advice from your GP if you are 22 weeks pregnant. There a lot of things you cant take when pregnant so better to be safe than sorry

Whitestar55 · 18/04/2024 10:04

It's an unusual question to ask on a transcription thread, but I hope you manage to get your problem sorted and that you feel better soon.

In respect of @Lollybaz we are all entitled to our opinions BUT to conclude that all can look for another job #and stop whinging is @Out or Order. This is a support domain for all workers of Dict8. The information gleaned from the site can be insightful. As regards to pay Dict8 are defaulting ... Cost of Living Crisis/lowest pay per capita in the whole of UK and Northern Ireland ... No pay rise for 15+ years. NOW that is out of order. AND not everyone has the choice, self-employed or otherwise, to gain employment elswhere ... Please be aware @Lollybaz there maybe more serious issues behind a person's reason to ONLY work for one company. We do not need to be propelled into a mindless, spiteful discussion. So as@Lollybaz has 'kept quiet' for long, whoever it is I suggest they remain quiet UNLESS they have something useful to say. AND may I request that you maybe talking to people with disability/incapacity/mental health/PTSD/Bipolar or such like. If you don't like the forum STAY OFF IT.

danblack87 · 18/04/2024 17:05

Anyway I do not know who 'she is not to be named is'.. On any contact I have had with Dict8 direct I have always found them helpful and understanding.

Marchy70 · 18/04/2024 17:14

How are people finding the workload now? I started with Dict8 back in 2006 however last year I sought employment and now work in a GP Surgery 3 long days a week. I have two days off so want to carry on transcribing - my specialities are cardiology medicine, paediatrics and diabetes/endo. Anyone else have these could give me some insight to what it’s like now please? Thanks xx

danblack87 · 18/04/2024 17:25

@Marchy70 I don't do any of your specialties so I cannot comment on that. I have good days and bad days. The Dr's strikes and bank holidays do not help. Some of the dictation is dire But I get good days too .. just depends. Also depends on whether I can physically work.

cathyk2002 · 18/04/2024 17:48

I've had a not too bad week this week so far, (only do one speciality), not too long before work appears and am getting used to the 'ethnic' accents a bit more now so a bit better to understand and if a word is inaudible, can sometimes work it out reading the passage and listen again to check it's right.

I'm retired (worked 6 years past my state pension age) and mobility disabled with osteoarthritis, but loved my job and was forced into leaving through a b*tich of a line manager who, in my opinion, hadn't a clue and seemed to have a knife in my back from the day she started but, hey ho.

I do this, as I said above, and it boosts the coffers a little as 'pin money' (ranges 600 - 800 a month) which is all I need from it.

danblack87 · 19/04/2024 09:55

@cathyk2002 @dobboflex I do sympathise with you. I am a recluse with PTSD, I rarely leave the house. I am also waiting for an operation on my left hand (I have been waiting for two years). It restricts what I can do - if I am having a good day all is fine if the work is there. On the good days I get frustrated if the work is not there. I choose to work for Dict8 (and only for Dict8) because I would struggle to do anything other than that and Dict8 give me the flexibility excuse the pun I need/ There could be plenty of work another day BUT whether I can do it or not depends on whether my hands are good!!! I also have a titanium rod from shoulder to elbow iny my right arm ... Working for Dict8 only is my means of survival. I am not retired. I am not on Disability payments. I have no carer. I like my own company (well, i am used to it !!!) @Lollybaz . Just be mindful here everyone has different reasons for what they do. 'Slating and meanness without knowledge of a person is damaging.

FYI I've not "kept quiet" for any reason other than I'm busy and have better things to do rather than get involved in a slanging match on here. I'm not a nasty person and I take your points on board. I know this is probably not the response you expected from me, I wasn't trolling, merely giving my opinion as you all do. But now I've heard some of your stories I can see it's not always so simple. I've always spoken out about how I feel but no offence was meant. I was merely pointing out that as we are self employed we do have a choice. If I was a painter decorator and someone asked to employ me to paint their house but they offered me a stupid figure, I would tell them where to stick it but I guess beggars can't always be choosers and I respect that.

danblack87 · 19/04/2024 14:48

@Lollybaz: I just wanted you to be mindful of what you were saying and I didn't mean to be impolite. I respect everybody's view; I just thought you took it a step too far/ I agree you were not probably trolling and you have your own opinions; as we all do. Just be careful of what you 'post' for you do not know what raw nerve you are going to touch. I do not know everyone's situation we are all individual and we do our own thing given our 'private' situations. Take care

cathyk2002 · 19/04/2024 18:05

Quiet day today for me, £49 one day £19 the next, always unpredictable but do what I can. Watch my Sky box in between or, last few weeks been doing a bit of diamond art while waiting for work 'popping up'. Swings & roundabouts right enough !!🙄

Pinksvilles · 19/04/2024 18:39

@Lollybaz
🙄Beggars can't be choosers, WTF ???

danblack87 · 19/04/2024 19:51

Yes @Pinksville that comment sruck with me too but I refuse to rise to the bait. I am done with the conversation. Unwarranted // I am not a beggar = CHEEK and, again, unwarranted and unnecessary

danblack87 · 19/04/2024 20:03

@cathyk2002 I do etchings if the day is right for my hands and there is no work. My daughter does diamond art/ I have a beautiful framed Peacock she did for me ...hanging in my halllway

Read that diamond art is quite therapeutic for calming etc. I enjoyed it but drills everywhere !! Got another 2 I ordered but will start them later, having a rest from it for now

Lollybaz · 19/04/2024 23:01

@Pinksville & @danblack87 whatever !! 🙄

Pinksvilles · 20/04/2024 09:37

@Lollybaz no actually it's not "whatever" you decided to have a rant on here calling out people you readily admit you have no idea what they are going through, defend yourself as a "nice person", then sign off with a shady old-fashioned comment that to me was completely inappropriate considering people were enlightening you to their situations !!🙄

@Lollybaz there you go again with your put downs "nice person"

As I am presumed to be not so intelligent "nice person" I Googled the old fashion saying (I said this because in today's society some old fashion sayings are in appropriate) and apparently this can be used in the way you described or as a put down. Having read your previous comments I believe yours was used in the context of a put down. Have a nice weekend "nice person"

@Pinksville haha you clearly have issues! You're assuming as you "believe" it was used in the context of a put down but it actually wasn't meant in a derogatory way. You don't know me and thankfully I don't know you but it seems that people are ok to comment on this thread as long as you agree with them, well life doesn't work quite like that I'm afraid. I still stand by what I said though! Keep on ranting cherub! 😂

Pinksvilles · 20/04/2024 13:20

A person on this thread opened up to you about their mental health and circumstances and you commented "beggars can't be choosers". Way to go "nice person".

I have a good idea who you are

Lollybaz · 20/04/2024 16:25

@Pinksville course you do! 🤪
