As bank staff think it’s every 13 hrs of work gives you one hour of holiday .

Whitestar55 · 27/03/2024 10:13

Thanks everyone for your replies.

@nomadchild - @Whitestar55 - Yes I got holiday pay too!!😊

Pinksvilles · 27/03/2024 13:00

Never heard of NHS Professionals before will have to look into that as my local hospitals only want bank staff who can commit to covering for months at a time? Also when I enquired about bank home working they were not interested. It's small wonder the NHS is so behind with this type of attitude seems to me that they don't want to be seen as efficient !!!

On another note, just been to a hospital appointment with my daughter and she was asked to fill out a tick box form all about the consultant (was he nice, did he explain things properly etc) her consultant was furious 😤

Chrissols · 27/03/2024 15:38

@Whitestar55 you don’t get holidays as such on the bank, but you get enhanced pay instead, I was working 20 hours a week on the bank up till two weeks ago and was paid a supplement of £55 per week which was holiday pay 😊

Pinksvilles · 28/03/2024 14:51

Will my invoice get paid today seeing as though it's a BH on the 1st ?

danblack87 · 30/03/2024 11:57

@Pinksville I put my invoice in early Thursday 28th due to Bank Holiday. Received but not paid suspect will get paid Tuesday or Wednesday

Pinksvilles · 30/03/2024 12:37

@danblack87 Yes, I did mine in the week and it's pending. I did think if there was a BH/weekend before the 1st they paid early ? 🙄

ElleBee56 · 30/03/2024 18:55

My invoice was flagged up to the accounts team as me having submitted multiple invoices for the month and being advised we should only submit invoices on the 1st of every month. The only other invoice was for February which I submitted on the 1st March. It culminated in me asking for it to be cancelled and I'll submit another invoice on 1st April.

Whitestar55 · 02/04/2024 14:33

I find if I put in my invoice on the 1st of the month there is no problem and they pay promptly.

Hi all. I follow this thread with interest. Would love to get into this type of work. Currently work in admin/ reception for NHS Scotland. Is it worthwhile or more hassle? Thanks

Lollybaz · 02/04/2024 15:20

The rules were that you have to have been a medical secretary with a speciality for at least 5 years to qualify and will need a reference to confirm this. It was when I joined anyway!

I put mine in yesterday (again!) and have been paid. Lesson for me, don't submit an invoice before the 1st of the month as it apparently shows as "multiple" if submitted within the same month as the invoice for the previous month (if that makes sense!)

carosel2 · 02/04/2024 17:59

Yes Ive been paid today from Dict8, wished T-pro did the same dont see why we should have to wait up to anytime up to the 7th day of the month with them

Whitestar55 · 03/04/2024 14:15

I have no words to describe the dictation today, just an abbreviation - WTF!

On their website DICT8 state that GP's and Clinics are charged per line of transcription done for them. I wonder if the charge to clients has ever increased since 2003 when the company was first set up. When asking for a rise in the rate for transcribers they usually say they are unable to do this due to competition from other transcription companies. I would love to know if the NHS/Client's rates have ever been increased. Due to inflation and rises in the minimum wage etc, and DICT8 having to pay their employees the going rate, you would think that the Clients' rate would have to be increased also - or are we the transcribers absorbing the costs as usual, by not getting an increase at all in the past 20 years?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 09/04/2024 09:24

@Whitestar55 I would assume that the rates they charge has gone up over the years, esp when they have had updated software which has corresponded to various trusts no longer using them, otherwise why would hospitals look elsewhere to get their typing carried out?

Whitestar55 · 09/04/2024 10:46

I don't suppose we'll ever find out and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a clause in the contract stating that this cannot be disclosed and the contracted transcribers will continue to be exploited.

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 09/04/2024 13:20

I found out recently that dict8 charge clients 19p per line. Don't know if this has always been the case or it has increased, I suspect the latter.

Pinksvilles · 09/04/2024 13:34

I also wonder whether they charge for quicker turnaround in the case of a whole clinic and extra for appalling dictation, in which case I bet they are making a fortune !!!!

Someone should pretend to be a customer 😂

Whitestar55 · 09/04/2024 14:27

@Lovemydaxie Thanks. 11p a line is quite a profit for them at our expense isn't it. While I understand they have their overheads and employees, I do think they are exploiting us and they should be considered as an intermediary and we as workers, or at least give us a better share of the 19p.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 09/04/2024 14:29

........not forgetting the unpaid office notes to the secretary.

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 09/04/2024 15:21

@Whitestar55 I completely agree, a pay increase is so long overdue. I'm certain they will have increased their rate to clients while the gap widens for us.

Moldol7 · 09/04/2024 22:22

I get very little dictation nowadays, just mostly odd ones from Spain and Gibraltar.

Pinksvilles · 10/04/2024 09:15

Same here @Moldol7 having to spend longer online waiting for work. I gave my job up because I could earn double on DICT8 in a shorter period of time and cut out travelling expenses etc (and some strange work colleagues 😂) I'm hoping it gets better but since the loss of Guy's and no positive communication from DICT8 about workload I'm actively looking to go back into work now
