@Newinmarch22 I put my invoice afternoon of 30th and it was paid morning of 31st!!

Pinksville · 05/02/2024 17:51

Yep, I have learnt to put it in on the 30th/31st as it seems I get paid quicker that way.

Whitestar55 · 06/02/2024 16:06

Does anyone do anything else to make a living, completely separate from transcription, like selling crafts, working in a shop, or anything else online that doesn't involve transcription.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 06/02/2024 16:36

@Whitestar55 I work for the NHS, not transcription though, although there is plenty of it. I just deal with referrals coming in and waiting lists and do it from home so it suits me.

Whitestar55 · 07/02/2024 10:58

@Chrissols That sounds better than freelance transcription, glad it's working out for you. Do you have to phone patients to do that?

Cherryblossom114 · 07/02/2024 10:58

Hi there everyone, Are the proofreaders on strike? not getting my "thank you youve done a wonderful " or "You've typed" 🤔

Cherryblossom114 · 07/02/2024 11:01

I have a little thing going with Ebay selling stuff.

Chrissols · 07/02/2024 11:07

@Whitestar55 occasionally I have to phone patients but have a headset for the NHS online phone system so all their equipment. A lot of appointments are done by accuryx so not many phone calls these days 😊

Pinksville · 07/02/2024 14:25

I top mine up with ebay and boot fairs.

Whitestar55 · 08/02/2024 17:07

I think I'm going to have to do something else to supplement DICT8 too, working full time for part time pay just isn't sustainable, not to mention knackering!

OP posts:
Chrissols · 08/02/2024 17:19

@Whitestar55 its a shame they get away with paying pittance isn’t it, but I firmly believe at some point they will have to come in line with living wage hourly rate and pay for all the flippin unpaid work they expect transcribers to do

Marchy70 · 08/02/2024 18:53

I did Dict8 full time but after the loss of work I had to look for something else. I now work three full days in a GP Practice on reception, I may start trying to do more for Dict8 again if it picks up but currently been adjusting to my three 10 hour days 🙈

Doglover6109 · 09/02/2024 14:21

Just read there is going to be another five day Dr's strike from 24 - 28 Feb.

@Cherryblossom114 - yes - very, very briefly - you have to commit to a certain amount of hours per day and they have a minimum (such as 5 mornings only or two half days and one full day). You have to buy your own software. They send you letters which you have to type. When you have done one and returned it they send the next. I cannot remember if there is any choice and whether you can send back ones you struggle with. The pay is or was per audio min so not sure where they get £11 an hour unless they have changed it. Woman in charge is very similar in manner to she who must not be named in DICT8. There is very little flexibility in hours worked, ie at 9am precisely they started to email you the letters and expect you to work until 1pm. I would not recommend.

Thanks Gally123. Very informative. Thats a shame. Probably wouldnt work for me. Im not a morning person and do like the flexibility that Dict8 has, however with the work on Dict8 that is so often unfathomable, one ends up,wasting a lot of time refreshing nonstop. Just looking for something to keep a float till my state pension kicks in the next couple of years. Do they do the zoom or telephone interview or just go by your CV?

Gally123 · 11/02/2024 21:45

@Cherryblossom114 - I think I had to do a typing test. Also a lot depends on whether they are looking for particular specialties. Of course, this was three or four years ago now and things may have changed. I gave mornings as an example, you could just as easily do afternoons, but it would be every afternoon, say 1pm to 5pm. There was no flexibility - you wouldn't be able to go and sit in the garden in the summer or nip to the shops etc.

Pinksville · 12/02/2024 09:06

Sounds like a "proper job" to me ! I would want holiday/sick pay too if I couldn't do the times and days I wanted 😅plus working for someone else who was like she who must not be named, well it would be a NO from me😂

@Cherryblossom114 As I said before, things do change so you lose nothing by applying and seeing if it would suit you.

I agree about it sounding like a 'proper job', with all the restrictions without the benefits. I don't know just how these companies are getting away with it and it's a reason I decided not to apply to them.

What is this utter shit that is coming through on DICT8 at the moment ??? slurred speech, distorted, makes no sense and they can't even pronounce the patient's name correctly FFS 🙄

sueinessex · 15/02/2024 10:12

Hi all, I've had quite a lot of work for the last couple of weeks but when looking at the task numbers it seems as though there is a HUGE amount going through the system. From 10am yesterday to 10am today 7,000 tasks. Where are they all? Not in Gastro that's for sure.

Doglover6109 · 15/02/2024 13:53

@sueinessex

Hi, same in Cardiology. There has been very little on today. Don't know what specialties these tasks are going to. The loss of GSTT has certainly had a bad impact on some clinics, and the week long Dr strikes are looming so it will probably be dead on there for some.

sueinessex · 15/02/2024 14:03

@Doglover61
I've earnt more this month already than I did in the whole of January. Since they lost Manchester Diabetes Centre I don't ever get diabetes any more just Gastro.
