I wonder if they regret giving the NHS access to their software during COVID ??? Really they should have preempted this. Like all their typists to be perfect but cannot live up to their own hype 😂

carosel2 · 06/12/2023 21:45

@Billybea - how did you get to know they lost the contract? Just interested 😊

Billybea · 06/12/2023 22:31

@carosel2 because we were all getting the same message from DICT8 when we queried why it was so quiet but we knew it hadn't been this bad since lockdown and my usual clinicians from GSTT were never dictating so I did a bit of Googling and it stated that GSTT went over to new electronic software costing ££££s on 5th October.

carosel2 · 06/12/2023 23:28

@Billybea - oh gosh that is shocking and makes sense as to why I only get the odd task now through from North West NHS Hospitals with shocking dictation. My main work was through them and I get nothing now

danblack87 · 07/12/2023 12:16

I have had nothing all day /// one indecipherable that stayed forever. Not good

Quiet for me too today but have had a few since 3-ish

Info for you ----
Anyone done multiple letters on one dictation (i.e. did 14 this morning🙄 ) - notes for Seccy in most, so did best I could given not paid for notes.

Feedback: do not shorten notes, type in full. If multiple letters put letter number, name & number of patient as well in note

Thought that was the point of AltN, to pinpoint place in dictation to correspond with note 🤔

Whitestar55 · 11/12/2023 16:12

Feedback to DICT8: Pay us for it then!

Wish they would, especially if expecting all that to be input !!!!! Should be thankful we do it whether shortened or not if not being paid for it😡

Lovemydaxie · 11/12/2023 16:47

@cathyk2002 what a cheek! We have never been asked to put the letter number, name and number of patient in the notes. I'm not starting that, they can jolly well pay for it if they want that. As you say, is that not what AltN is for?

Marchy70 · 11/12/2023 17:43

Have to say I’ve always been asked to put letter number and name if multiple tasks - that was from quite a few years back

General Advice
Below are some general hints and tips from our proof readers.

  • 11/12/2023
  • Please take care to type messages to secretary in full and not to abbreviate so that the secretary understands.
  • 11/12/2023
  • When flagging up queries on a multiple letter task please ensure you also enter the letter number and patient name and hospital number in the transcript notes box
cathyk2002 · 11/12/2023 18:11

Blimey !! Just had the praise message for 4 tasks from today .... couldn't make this up !! 🙄

Pinksville · 11/12/2023 18:55

@cathyk2002 are they insinuating the secretaries are clueless at the other end 🤔

Chrissols · 11/12/2023 19:03

Surely the cannot possibly enforce that? It’s demanding free labour?

cathyk2002 · 11/12/2023 19:05

Pinksville · 11/12/2023 18:55

Sounds like that if they feel they can't understand a 'bullet point' message

Pinksville · 11/12/2023 19:15

😂😂😂

carosel2 · 11/12/2023 22:16

My sentiments entirely are with @Whitestar55 - to send a message back saying it takes time and characters to do this. I do not work for free, this should be paid for then I have no problem in doing so

Gally123 · 12/12/2023 07:44

@carosel2 - or give us a long (very long and much deserved) pay rise to cover this "extra" work

Hi @cathyk2002 did you reply and query this?

I had this a couple of months ago and I replied saying we do not get paid for the notes section and so I will not add more and more when I do not need to. I pointed out that the notes numbers clarifies where in the long list of letters the query is. I got a reply saying it is not 100% necessary and that they will speak to the proof reader. They said if I added 'let 1' or 'let 2' etc it would aid the secretary on the other end but I don't have to. Therefore, I don't.

cathyk2002 · 12/12/2023 09:27

Thanks for that @YellowBellyLola, agree they should all be reading from the same hymn sheet

Pinksville · 12/12/2023 09:44

@YellowBellyLola agree, I have queried things with the office and had the same relayed to me. Seems the proofreaders have a superior sense of self 😂

Whitestar55 · 12/12/2023 14:10

I think it's more a case of DICT8 trying it on, but they know they can't enforce it because we are freelancers, not paid as employees, they just hope we will do it, but know that it goes against the criteria of them classing us a freelancers, as they would be telling us how to do the work, not to mention the not being paid for it, they know they are in the shit regarding this.

So now we must spoon feed the core payroll staffs not to mention the proofreaders who want to make up there own rules depending on what side of the bed they roll out of..
I abbreviate/shorten all note msgs wherever possible and as for the numbering...WTF. Cryjng out loud...Its all on the one tape.... ALTN follow it.

Doglover61 · 13/12/2023 12:43

Due to the dire situation regarding work on Dict8, has anyone else registered with another outsourcing company? I applied to one about a week ago but have heard nothing yet. Any recommendations for other companies that do the same thing?
