Yes I have just read that, no chance with DICT8, no wonder they are going down hill at 100 mph. The crap I had on my list today was jaw dropping. No sentences just random words thrown out there, muttering, errrrs, slurps, burps you name it I heard it today 🙄Not worth what will be below the minimum wage

Raisingboys22 · 21/11/2023 19:25

@cathyk2002 we use dragon workflow manager, winscribe in our dept went about 2 years ago. Much better system

cathyk2002 · 21/11/2023 19:29

@Pinksville I had a good run all day, most I've made in a day for ages, not that that is very much !!

Whitestar55 · 22/11/2023 10:38

Hi everyone, I've not posted for a while, but have been working and reading posts on here. Fingers crossed there'll be more home working available via the NHS. How sad that we are all freaking about the minimum wage increasing to £11.44 an hour when med secs were paid that over 10 years ago anyway, we've become so used to the slave labour that is freelance transcription that the minimum wage now sounds like a fortune!

It is astonishing really how the work has disappeared from Dict8 and not from other companies in the same field, and what’s worse is the fact they are too uncaring to inform transcribers of the situation. I have truly never known anywhere that keeps you in the dark so much, shame on you Dict8!

Pinksville · 22/11/2023 14:59

I have had nothing all day today, a first for me. I agree with the sentiment, they should be telling us what is going on. I think they are bloody ignorant.

On the other hand I have applied to my local hospitals for bank work/working from home (thanks for the advice). I used Bing Chat to compose the cover letters and I have to say makes me sound really exceptional 😂😂😂

cathyk2002 · 22/11/2023 17:12

Is it just my Speciality that has been getting regular the last few days & today......well, at 17.12hrs there are 92 tasks waiting !!!!

Gally123 · 22/11/2023 18:02

@cathyk2002 - there were a number in one of my specialties as well this afternoon, in fact they sent out one of their "plenty of work on system" emails even though I was already logged in!!

Lollybaz · 22/11/2023 18:05

@cathyk2002 well lucky old you! You must be the "chosen" one this week! 😂😂

cathyk2002 · 22/11/2023 19:36

Yep, I had same message for the 92, just logged off & still 59 waiting !!!!

cathyk2002 · 24/11/2023 16:30

Not too bad busy-wise today but there is one guy who would be good, as English, but too close to the mic so every word has a 'puff' of breath with it making it inaudible but someone has obviously done a few of his. They need teaching on how to dictate methinks !!! 😡

Feel like opening one & just putting a note to Doctor: re-do & do not hold mic so close to mouth to make it more audible !!!!!

Gally123 · 24/11/2023 19:39

@cathyk2002 if you leave such a message for the dictator you will likely get a not very nice one back from DICT8 - you are not allowed to "criticise" the dictators or even offer help. I left a message for one saying I thought his hand set needing cleaning as it was sticking and then jumping, and got a sh*tty email from DICT8 saying not to leave such messages. However, the next time I typed his letters there was no problem.

I also said to one woman who was sooooo quiet it would help if she was in the same room as her handset but I expected a slap on the wrist for that. She did not improve. I don't think half the time the doctors get passed the messages by their secretaries.

cathyk2002 · 24/11/2023 19:53

@Gally123 Probably not passing the messages on 🙄 that would be too hard !!!

Pinksville · 25/11/2023 08:52

It's reassuring to hear there are busy times on DICT8. My specialties have been very quiet this week, although I am nearing my target for the month I have had to stay on site longer than I would like !

VillageGirl1982 · 27/11/2023 10:20

Not to mention those who cough into the microphone, sniff repeatedly and eat during the dictation, so you hear all the chewing noises 🙄.

cathyk2002 · 27/11/2023 10:29

Ooooo, just got mail ..... a present from Dict8 .....a notebook.....WOW !!!!!

Billybea · 27/11/2023 14:24

Oh I have a serial belcher! 🤬

Gally123 · 27/11/2023 17:28

@cathyk2002 they send out notebooks this time every year - it used to be diaries which were very useful for recording working hours each day as per HMRC guidelines, so now I have to buy a diary.

yes, I know, notebooks are useful too.

Curious - how do you work out hours you have worked, do you note how long it takes you to do each task or do you go by how long you are logged in per day ? I was told by Tax2U that it's all trust as you can't prove the hours you worked and HMRC rarely question it ??

I know I do more than 100hrs a month which you can claim a standard amount for although not sure if that amount (think £26) is monthly (although I would hope it is)

Gally123 · 27/11/2023 18:44

@cathyk2002 the guidelines say we should make a note of hours worked including breaks so I usually write something like 8am- 12pm, 1pm- 6pm and the amount earned such as £65.23 etc. If I have taken time off then I make a note such as "dentist" or "electrician." I have kept all the diaries over the last 10 years or so. I know a lot is done on trust but sometimes they will check hence receipts etc should be kept for seven years I think it is.

cathyk2002 · 27/11/2023 19:03

@Gally123 I'd better get checking back & working out then 🙄

Chrissols · 28/11/2023 08:38

I use an accountant and he has never asked how many hours I work?

Gally123 · 28/11/2023 11:51

@Chrissols, I don't suppose he has. The records of hours worked etc are in case HMRC write to you and ask to see all the records that you have kept of your work, including how you work out your expenses and the receipts for these. The guidelines are on their website.

cathyk2002 · 28/11/2023 12:32

I've not been bothering with leccy & heating as retired, so would have had TV on using leccy but not on now as working instead, so cancels each other out really. This is just 'pin money' for me and to keep the brain active

Chrissols · 28/11/2023 12:32

@Gally123 i think I will just continue with what the accountant says, he also keeps records as per the guidelines so I don’t have to, far easier 😜😜
