I've been not too bad today either, last one was 20mins long, 11 letters & just finished !!!!

danblack87 · 16/11/2023 09:16

Yesterday was not good for me at all

Billybea · 16/11/2023 12:28

@danblack87 that's me today! It's grim.
anybody conversed with Liz lately? I'm wondering if she's still there!

TypoQueen1 · 16/11/2023 13:11

@Billybea I have.

hikingisfun · 16/11/2023 13:38

Does anyone else feel as if work is being deliberately held back. I have not done much work for them over the last 12 months and feel as if I am now not getting any work from them. I have two specialities and have nothing on my account to type 🙄or am I just being paranoid?

Pinksville · 16/11/2023 13:59

@hikingisfun It feels like the work is being rotated round (just enough to keep us going) some days load other days zero ??

Would be nice of DICT8 to say something about this dire situation

hikingisfun · 16/11/2023 14:21

@Pinksville I am not getting enough to keep me going. When I log on there are maybe 1 or 2 during the whole day and evening then hours of zero tasks.

I have changed username (been working for them for years), as we know they read this thread. I have gone back working for the NHS on the bank so have not been typing much for Dict8. It just seems to be very strange that this has gone on for so long. Zero work on my account every day.

I agree they should have the balls to tell us what's going on.

Stillgrinding · 17/11/2023 07:45

Could it be possible they may be doing it "in house"? If there is not much work going through their system and the proof-reading staff are short on work perhaps they are doing some of the typing or would the proof-readers be self employed as we are? Just a thought. Something is a bit strange and I also believe the work is possibly rotated to keep us all going. We will never know though!!! I have always had a full basket of ironing to do but not these days, laptop and iron set up in the same room. I think I may put out an advert to become an ironing lady, it has to more rewarding than this and I really can't stand ironing.😜

cathyk2002 · 17/11/2023 11:58

I've been kept going this morning since 8ish & just stopped at 11.45 as nothing there at the moment 🤷‍♀️

sijacks05 · 17/11/2023 12:03

I joined Dict8 with a view to keeping my hand in retirement due shortly. Have to say haven't done any work for them since the Summer. Used to get so fed up with the very petty feedback after 20 odd years of being a senior med sec! Reading all the recent comments on this thread, not sure working for them is going to figure in my future. We use digital voice recognition at our Trust and I hate it. Some of the rubbish that's dictated is beyond ridiculous. Dict8 should just be honest with people about how things are for everyone. So bad that they don't communicate.

Chrissols · 17/11/2023 15:07

@sijacks05 I agree wholeheartedly - the lack of communication is the height of ignorance. I joined Dict8 for exactly the same reason, but there are plenty of other companies out there who treat their transcribers with the respect they deserve, and NHS are taking on home-workers. I have never known a company like Dict8 for treating people so badly, and for a very low pay to boot.......

cathyk2002 · 17/11/2023 15:07

Since 11.45, I've done 2 letters, gone quiet until 5ish probably when I decide it's time to shut down and have tea, feet up and watch TV for evening🙄

Pinksville · 17/11/2023 19:29

@Stillgrinding 😂😂my ironing basket is empty for the first time in (forever) too !!!!

Who do you approach within the NHS regarding homeworker (been years since I worked for them) would it be via the departments I specialise in or do they still have human resources ?

@Chrissols I agree, a short email to explain things might not go amiss. This might be one door closing another opening which might not be bad, all things considered about DICT8.

Chrissols · 17/11/2023 19:37

@Pinksville I got my NHS work from being on the bank already and they knew I was only interested in home working. Never a shortage of work either contracted or on the bank. Approach you local NHS, but I would suggest going on the bank as you will get access to all internal jobs as, as you know, a lot don’t get advertised externally. They have provided me with laptop, screen, mobile etc, and it’s a bit of variety.

Pinksville · 17/11/2023 19:48

@Chrissols thanks for that.

hikingisfun · 17/11/2023 22:29

@Pinksville I second what Chrissols suggests about the bank. I am also working on the bank from home (with computer provided by them) and love the freedom to work when I want. I can't rely on Dict8 solely anymore and I would contact the HR Department of your local hospital. Good luck.

Pinksville · 18/11/2023 09:45

@hikingisfun thanks for that.

I have quite a few hospitals within a 25 mile radius so I am thinking of applying to all of them regarding working from home. Fingers crossed !!

cathyk2002 · 20/11/2023 10:17

Noticed quite a few 'new voices' in my speciality recently. My NHS in Scotland works on WinScribe & not able to access that system from home as far as I know cos speciality I did I have heard are about 2,000 letters in backlig since I retired !!!!

Gally123 · 20/11/2023 21:08

Totally nothing to do with DICT8 or work - has anyone flown with Easyjet? Can you check in at the airport and get your boarding pass at the airport? I keep hearing conflicting information and the holiday company I am thinking of booking with aren't much help, neither is Inverness airport who just told me there is an online link to check in, after I told them I cannot do online check in as I do not have a mobile phone. Thanks.

VillageGirl1982 · 21/11/2023 08:05

Gally123, there are check-in desks at the airport. The staff there should print off your boarding pass for you.

Pinksville · 21/11/2023 08:37

@Gally123 we went with them last month for the first time. I done everything online and you get the option to print the boarding passes off (which I did) I found getting through the airport a breeze with them although the outbound flight was a bit 🤔with quite a few excited kid like adults !!! I sat next to a really sweet baby for 3 hours who was 100 % better behaved than any of them 😂

Gally123 · 21/11/2023 08:42

@VillageGirl1982 thanks, that's great. We never had mobile phones etc at school so have no idea how to use one (and my sister just keeps saying "it's easy" but refuses to show me) so I need traditional check in desks on holiday.

Chrissols · 21/11/2023 11:41

@Gally123 trust me, if you can use a computer, you will be able to use a phone, they are just a smaller version really 😊

cathyk2002 · 21/11/2023 13:59

As you've all been talking about going back to your local NHS for home working, did a bit of investigating re: Winscribe that I used & been told by company that supplies it to my local NHS that it should be able to be worked from home but phasing out next year to be replaced but said new systems should be able to be worked from home also. Did some digging on one of the possible replacements, Dragon Medical One, & came up with this .... very interesting
