I signed with accuro about 8 years ago, I had to tell them how much I would charge. I also had to give the days and hours I wanted to work. I never got any work for weeks, and then out of the blue I got an email asking why I hadn't typed what they sent me. I actually got fed up of checking on the days I said, to have no work. When I asked why I hadn't been getting any they said there was probably somebody cheaper than me! I'd only asked for the same rate as dict8. I was also expected to keep what I had typed on my computer for a week, which I wasn't happy about. I think I typed 2 letters for them and then give them the push.

Pinksville · 30/10/2023 07:29

I was typing a few letters last week and thinking about voice recognition in between waiting for work !!! So the GSTT voice recognition is equipped (supposedly) for all types of accent but is it equipped for doctors etc who can hardly string a sentence together, cannot pronounce medical terminology correctly or drug names and very often get their mcg mixed up with their mg, left with right, and my favourite, Thyroxine instead of levothyroxine 😂How will the VR cope I wonder 🙀will it start its own mumsnet page ? go on strike ? or explode - my money is on it exploding 😂

Billybea · 30/10/2023 09:00

@Pinksville I thought exactly the same! Maybe the secretaries have to correct them all which gives them more work! I can't see that lasting!

Lovemydaxie · 30/10/2023 09:15

I think the only way forward is for Dict8 to move to VR, like Tpro so basically we become the proof readers. Unfortunately, all the Trusts are going over to VR now. It's not what I would prefer but I can only see things getting worse. Too little work and too many transcribers on Dict8 now and unless they move with the times they are going to fold.

cathyk2002 · 30/10/2023 11:29

I, too, can't see how VR would be efficient with accents etc. I've experienced drug names being the same but pronounced very differently. I think it could be a case of 'watch this space' 🙄

nomadchild · 30/10/2023 13:56

@Pinksville and @Billybea i work mostly for Tpro now and thought I’d hate voice recognition but it’s so much better. The new systems remember your corrections so it’s constantly learning and updating its ability to produce the work with more accuracy. If you get a good dr you can whiz through the letters. The more challenging ones if you prefer you can just re type as sometimes that’s easier. Like all drs the more you do them the more you get used to them. I never thought I’d be a fan but it’s less tiring and I’m making £70 a day now. Also it is better for the drs as if they want to send their letter out sooner than we can turn it around ie it becomes very urgent the text is there for them just to tweak as opposed to a blank file having to be typed.

they have a text all typed so they can just edit as opposed to waiting for someone to type it up. I think that is why they prefer it. Dict 8 will have to move over to this to survive I fear.

Billybea · 30/10/2023 14:04

@nomadchild thank you very much for that insight. I applied quite a while ago for Tpro but haven't had a response apart from asking me to send my CV which I had already done and I think was an automated response. I applied to them because I came from an Irish household and thought I would get on with the accent! I will just have to sit tight to see if a vacancy arises for my speciality. Thanks again.

Lovemydaxie · 30/10/2023 14:40

I applied to Tpro a couple of weeks ago but no response. I also applied about 2 years ago and again no response, other than an automated reply. I'm going to chase them up. My CV is excellent so don't think it's me, but maybe don't need anyone at the moment.

Pinksville · 30/10/2023 16:43

I expect there will be a backlog of work building up as they are getting use to the VR at Guy's fingers crossed it comes this way.

TypoQueen1 · 30/10/2023 16:46

I have enquired with Dict8 as to the reason for drop in work volume. I had a reply to other queries I had raised but no reply to the above 🤔BTW I have decided to forget Accuro, it just looks too fiddly and the pay is rubbish. Plan B needed .....

Gally123 · 30/10/2023 17:30

@Billybea with Tpro they like people to work on all specialties not just the ones you are most familiar with. People who say they only want to type/edit their preferred specialties seem to get rejected. Also they do have a minimum work requirement which changes from time to time, but currently I think it is 500,000 characters a month (at one time it was 150,000 a week and then six hours a day).

cathyk2002 · 31/10/2023 18:10

Just submitted my invoice for the month

Newinmarch22 · 31/10/2023 18:34

Submitted mine this morning, still saying "invoice submitted". Thought it was too good to be true, last month sent invoice and payment in my bank all within 20 minutes.

danblack87 · 01/11/2023 12:24

My invoice sent yesterday afternoon. Still waiting for payment. I need some shopping desperately

Chrissols · 01/11/2023 12:53

Mine took two weeks, although I did send it mid-month (never had a problem in the past doing this, but apparently do now)

Lollybaz · 01/11/2023 15:42

I sent mine today 07.30 and noticed it in my account 30 mins ago. You should be fine.

cathyk2002 · 01/11/2023 16:11

Mine paid in as well

FizzyStream · 01/11/2023 21:26

Sent my invoice this morning and the money is in my bank now.

cathyk2002 · 02/11/2023 07:41

Work was a bit more steady yesterday, although ethnic voices which I tend to avoid, managed a few though

Pinksville · 02/11/2023 09:26

@cathyk2002 yes I have had a really good week ! The dictation was excellent came through clear with no background noise. I made more in this week and in half the time !!! The hospitals are not in London - says it all !!!! I hope my list never gets clogged up with Guy's again 😂😂

cathyk2002 · 02/11/2023 09:59

Yes, a few from Lancashire area I think

TypoQueen1 · 02/11/2023 16:46

I seem to be bombarded with negative feedback at the moment. It's a bit demoralising.

Gally123 · 02/11/2023 19:57

@TypoQueen1 yes I have had that a couple of times. Feedback on every little comma etc twice a day every day for a week and then it magically stopped as if my typing had suddenly improved to their liking. I almost gave up, just had to force myself to continue to work every day. Be assured, it will soon pass, but it is hell while it happens.

TypoQueen1 · 02/11/2023 20:03

@Gally123 Thanks. I have queried a couple of things they mentioned, so it feels like they are picking on me as a result of that but maybe I'm being over sensitive.

Deniserew · 02/11/2023 20:07

I've had it too and I've responded to them unfavourably. I think work is so slow for them they've nothing better to do to pass the time
