Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

Hi Everyone,
Not been online much of late. ruddy shoulder injury flared up again on Monday and couldn't work if i wanted to, on dozy meds now so just on to say hi after trying out a few letters. Too warm up here to type anyhow. Bit frustrating to be fair i've had enough of sitting watching tv etc.

Although i don't get paid sick time at least i don't have the stage 1/2/3/4 etc manager waiting to patronise me over my genuine sickness. I got anxiety everytime i got sick in the past, at least i can just not type anything and await the "we have a lot of letters for you transcribers!" then log in to about 9 letters outstanding.... really?

I'm off to find a sling lol xx

Get that manager anxiety I developed asthma st 45 and was never sick till then, it would be just after Xmas I’d be ill on Pred and every June as hayfever triggered it. The attitude was so awful when I rang in I quit and do this now. They asked me to go back twice but I told them why and they were shocked. If I’m sick now I work at home but small amounts as you’ve just said. It’s very different getting up in the dark and cold when yr awful to work 8 hours flat.

Lindsaychad123 · 22/06/2022 17:04

Sore shoulders must be a thing this week I’ve had the same but think it was the way I was sleeping but to know I can do a little here and there and just plod along and not have anyone scrutinising me or making me feel bad for being off is a god send.

Whitestar55 · 23/06/2022 12:55

Hello everyone, hope you're all having a good day. I've been surfing and I've actually managed to find a transcription workers' cooperative based in the UK. I'm going to look into it further.

@Whitestar55 what is that please (I may sound a bit stupid here 🙄)

Chrissols · 25/06/2022 14:04

There has been the same five tasks blocking everything for me since 7.30am today 🙄

Lindsaychad123 · 25/06/2022 14:46

there was like 10 tasks on mine done and nothing else my speciality never has much at the weekend

Meha5a · 25/06/2022 14:52

I had to come off yesterday as the dictation was appalling !!!! I feel sorry for the patients

Chrissols · 25/06/2022 15:15

It still the same five blocking mine so I'm done now till next week - such a waste of time 🙄

Lovemydaxie · 25/06/2022 18:33

There were over 100 tasks on mine this afternoon but as usual couldn't get past the 5 appalling ones. So annoying, it could have been a lucrative afternoon if I could have got through them😠

Chrissols · 25/06/2022 20:05

@Lovemydaxie i think I must have been seeing the same as you, I gave up in the end, same as yesterday…..and the day before 😤

Gally123 · 27/06/2022 09:45

I needed a smile this morning as it is so dark and gloomy with all this rain etc, and the VR with Tpro has provided that - it came up at the end of the letter that the doctor was the "Bestest Registrar" and I think I prefer that to "Specialist."

Chrissols · 27/06/2022 10:55

@Gally123 I got a smile this morning as got my long expected feedback email......first in about nine months so have been expecting one for a while 😂. Ironically, the thing they picked me up on I happen to know is incorrect - they must just think they have to keep you on your toes, albeit giving wrong feedback. I have to say, I would love signing off 'bestest' 😁😁

Hi Chrissols, A true workers cooperative is a company owned and run by the workers, who are described as members, there are no managers as such as everyone has equal responsibility for how the business is run and are usually paid equal salaries and shares of the profits. I'm not sure how successful or lucrative a transcription cooperative would be and whether any financial set up would be required, but exploitation shouldn't exist as there are no bosses.

Its is better in that sense. I quit NHS last October after being working from home for 18 months and throwing me back in a completely different desk away from the typing team was their way of making me feel better, me and the other lady in the same boat both felt we were no better off coming in than being at home socially. She followed me in December and moved to different more welcoming and more with it department to ours. Management changeover during lockdown didn't matter and lots of things happened where new management got manipulated. mass exodus followed and with over 3k letters last i heard around christmas time i'm surprised they've not got Dict8 on their books, they decided to opt out to the Philapines i believe, i didn't think that was lawful but nothing surprises me about the management.

Mondays are a bit lapse to begin with so we went shopping and listened to everyone moaning abou the weather. I hate the heat so i wasn't bothered lol. Just done a few this afternoon to re-break myself in.

I first thought it was about how i slept, i ended up with Zapain, a sling and someone suggested taking some protein powder which i had in the house following a keto diet and somethings actually worked, pain free since Saturday, so did some typing while i still could. :-)

Meha5a · 27/06/2022 19:27

@Chrissols and there was me thinking we weren't getting any feedback lately because the dictation was so dire they wouldn't have the nerve 😂I see they are advertising again everywhere !!!

Whitestar55 · 28/06/2022 11:49

I'm finding ever more details to be note boxed 'as per last letter' or 'add in xxx here', not just diagnoses, the way it's going at this rate it'll become 50/50, then voluntary work!

I've put two back for that alone this morning. Its not worth my time to go faffing about with either previous mistakes of others who have been paid for the privaliage so if they want further input from us at how they can improve things they may like to pay us for the "sortingout" and let us put a "heading" accordingly rather than a note. You got paid in the factory's for unpicking work and redoing mistakes etc.

@Frazzledbynature - Yeah, it's called 'Let's exploit the freelance status'.

I have had a better day today so far and yesterday was not too bad - Wednesday through to Sunday was not good, hardly did anything. Tomorrow I won't be working (family) so I am hoping today continues to be good.

Whitestar55 · 28/06/2022 17:25

Personal Assistant jobs, salary seems to be around £30K (I've seen 25K to 45K).

Medical PA, most at band 4, £22549.00 to £24882.00, the rest band 3 PAs disguised as mere Medical Secretaries on £20330.00 to £21777.00 (some 3s are now actually under the title 'PA'!)

Even worse, Support Secretaries, band 2, (obviously down-banded from a 3) £18870.00 to £19918.00! 😥

I wouldn't be surprised if band 1 is reinstated soon.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 28/06/2022 17:31

Probably all still more than what we manage to scrape with DICT8 , but sad to see the disappreciation of the medical secretary as a whole.

@Chrissols - had my first feedback for months today as well - and rather cryptic I thought. Had to read it through a few times to try and fathom what was meant, in the end just decided to "file" it.

Chrissols · 28/06/2022 18:53

@Gally123 seems their just trying to remind us they’re still there 🙄
