Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 26/05/2022 14:11

What I'm trying to say is - I'm assuming the clients are being charged the same amount for VR edited tasks as they are for the manually typed tasks, but the transcribers are being paid half the amount of manual transcription for doing the VR editing. I can't see the companies charging the clients half the amount though, so the companies actually profit, but no one else does. I know some give bonuses for reaching a line count target, but that doesn't help the probable majority of transcribers who don't reach that and it would be fairer to reward everyone.

@Whitestar55 Hi, yes today wasn't too bad. A girl I worked with took a job with Tpro checking instead of typing. Not sure how it's going but might be worth looking at.

Gally123 · 27/05/2022 07:43

@Whitestar55 - with voice recognition again, it all depends on the dictator - get a good one and you can whiz through it esp if they mention every full stop. Otherwise it is stop/start correcting, every full stop, extra space between sentences, every capital letter, not to mention correcting the rubbish that VR throws up, that seems to change with each upgrade - at the moment on TPro every time someone says "tumour" the system writes "tomorrow"...
@cherryblossom114 - here is the new thread. I did not realise either we had reached the end of the last one.

Cherryblossom114 · 27/05/2022 08:15

Gally123 Great thank you. This thread helps to keep me sane from the woes of DICT8 dictators and the spoof readers...lol
Happy Bank weekend to all 💌

@Cherryblossom114 "spoof readers" 😂😂😂

How come my typing speed has gone up by my earning power is down ????

Whitestar55 · 27/05/2022 10:51

@Gally123 Thanks for the info about VR. I am reluctant though to do any work as a so called SE contractor for these companies, as I think it's unfair to halve the pay of the transcribers for doing this, when the company is probably profiting from it. Ok, we might be able to get through it more quickly, but we are still producing more work for the company, so why shouldn't we be rewarded instead of being penalised by having to produce more and possibly work just as hard ,as some of the VR may be time consuming to edit and take just as long as it would to type it out. This industry is nothing but exploitive.

@Cherryblossom114 Glad you've found the new thread now. Hope you're having a good day with no spoofproofreading happening!

Hi, yes, Tpro have reduced the pay for VR editing, because apparently it's more productive, but once again only if the dictation is clear in the first place. Great for Tpro, but not for the transcribers/editors because they have to work just as hard to do twice as much, the company most likely makes more profit, but the transcriber remains static - no thanks to that.

and now it is raining! I probably should be doing some housework but do not really want to, also trying to resist the urge to type. What to do on a wet bank holiday...?

danblack87 · 04/06/2022 08:20

HELLLllllllOooooooooo to all my lovely Dict8 colleagues!!
Finally worked out how to search the latest Dict8 forum ... well, I had time on my hands and it was another way of avoid the arduous task of cleaning the kitchen floor!!! ++++ I was was missing everyone. Hope you are all having a lovely Bank Holiday. 😀

danblack87 · 04/06/2022 13:04

@Meha5a : I had a lucky break this morning - was not expecting any work at all today. However, there was work on in my Specialty (sporadic to start, odd one or two, but then picked up) However, surprising /// passing on the rest of the afternoon though, It is bank holiday after all and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Workingfromhomenow · 06/06/2022 11:08

Does anyone else think the volume has been turned up just recently? I'm having to turn down to 50% on most tasks to avoid being deafened!

Gally123 · 06/06/2022 12:24

@Workingfromhomenow - I logged on over the weekend just to see what was on offer and there were a couple there I could barely hear even with the volume on 100%. I could not make out much in the way of actual words, just a low mumble with every now and then something recognisable. I did not bother to type it. I wish the volume was higher on some. There have been few dictations on offer today.

Chrissols · 06/06/2022 12:42

@Workingfromhomenow @Gally123 I have definitely noticed the volume has gone up - I thought it was because I had just had my PC serviced 😂😂

Whitestar55 · 06/06/2022 13:20

I'm finding the volume fluctuates between tasks as usual and most of the recordings continue to be poor, many with static like sounds because the equipment isn't be used and maintained properly, but I doubt it will ever change as you can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink- and so continues the GIGO.

OP posts:
danblack87 · 06/06/2022 15:25

I haven't noticed any difference in the volume of sound of transcription

Chrissols · 06/06/2022 16:31

I have noticed the volume has gone very high, I thought it was my machine, but not if other's have noticed. On a different note, the work is awful today 🥱🥱

danblack87 · 07/06/2022 08:31

Hi, I see from an e-mail from Dict8 that steps have been taken to reduce the number of poor quality voice files so to all that noticed the volume change you were obviously right!

Whitestar55 · 07/06/2022 10:50

Thanks DICT8, next can you please address the messages in notes box to the secretary dictated by the clinician, as most of us would like to invoice you for this service, which obviously benefits the company and the clients, but not the transcribers.

OP posts:
Workingfromhomenow · 07/06/2022 11:49

When I saw the email from Dict8 yesterday I thought they were going to say they had given us an increase in the per line rate - should have known better!

Meha5a · 07/06/2022 12:47

@Workingfromhomenow it's the first thing they should have addressed !!! but as per usual this company is tone deaf -

  1. Increase pence pre line
  2. Pay by BACs
  3. Sort out poor dictation
  4. Address "spoof-readers" comments
  5. Address hostile condescending staff
There you go DICT8 save you sending out any more useless questionnaires/making pointless phone calls.
