Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

Not received a cheque either yet - sent on 1November and payment page states cheque issued - it’s always random how long or quick they take to arrive but notice it’s always 2nd class post - obviously we are not important to warrant 1st class postage !!

danblack87 · 08/11/2022 12:02

@Gally123 : I seem to recall it was a bit slow last Christmas/January ... you never, know what with backlogs of appointments in NHS, they may put extra clinics on (which are a good earner for staff running evening clinics). Especially with the COL Crisis everyone will be looking for more earnings running into Christmas and New Year ... fingers' x'd.

Gally123 · 08/11/2022 12:09

@danblack87 - if the nurses strike goes ahead as planned there will be less work as they will be no clinics with no nurse support and a bank holiday type service only.

Whitestar55 · 08/11/2022 14:39

Today I've noticed a few letters where the dictators have complained that information is wrong or missing or not updated on the previous letters and asking for xxx to be changed to yyy or add in zzz etc and have given a long drawn out explanation of it. I guess the copy and paste and/or alter, and hope that someone gets the message, system is starting to backfire.

Chrissols · 08/11/2022 17:06

@Whitestar55 Today I haven't noticed anything - haven't had a single task 😥😥

nomadchild · 08/11/2022 17:47

I just haven't bothered with Dict8 this past month and this current month. I prefer Tpro and I'm earning much more with them and they treat me as a human being. I have no incentive to go back. I think they are definitely going under. Also their website has changed with a big emphasis on the fact they are not voice recog and they are much better because of this however they also state to invest in voice recog software requires a lot of investment upfront for them and the hospital, they actually state this, well to me that is the answer they can't afford to invest in it and are being left behind.

TypoQueen1 · 08/11/2022 19:09

Just looked at their website and found this, what a cheek when they don't even pay us for notes!!

"The DICT8 system has been specifically designed to deal with issues such as additional information on the dictation file (e.g. ‘please book Mrs. Smith in again next Tuesday’) that occur regularly in real world use of medical transcription systems: There is a specific field in the transcription ‘transcript notes’ that is available to allow the transcriber to type out such dictated instructions, whilst keeping them separated from the letter that they accompany. At the Trust end such instructions will be on the screen / downloaded letter as a readily identifiable separate section that refers to a specific patient and letter."

joewe41 · 08/11/2022 20:38

@TypoQueen1 lol great, still isn't going to win them contracts. Many other systems have those capabilities. I'm same as@nomadchild on Tpro and not even looking at Dict8. They haven't had anything on my specialty for a month, don't treat me like a human being and I'm better off with this company.

danblack87 · 08/11/2022 20:45

I have had a very good day today with plenty of tasks all largely reasonably. I hope this will pick-up for everyone.

Chrissols · 08/11/2022 20:59

@danblack87 i know we can’t say, but I am really intrigued as to what you specialities are. I have four and haven’t had tasks for weeks

TypoQueen1 · 08/11/2022 20:59

How do you apply to TPro? I had a look and it seems you need a LinkedIn account which I don't have.

Whitestar55 · 09/11/2022 00:12

How does T-pro deal with 'additional notes'? It really annoys me that Dict8 expects us to use our time free of charge to type these increasingly lengthy notes, with the only way round it being to not type the task at all. I'm not surprised they state on their website that Trusts can save 50% in secretarial costs - we know who is paying the price for that!

Whitestar55 It varies as not all their clients are the same. I have typed mainly for the Mater hospital and there you leave a note in red at the top of the letter if for example the addresses don't match. You create a timestamp within the letter by hitting a key if you can't hear anything and type 'UNCLEAR' in the middle of it. It then goes to quality control. I agree that the free note typing for Dict8 is unfair. There is a lot of stuff to do with their layouts/punctuation that I don't care for as they take up more time, but it's just a case of adapting.

Lunnuni · 09/11/2022 07:14

TypoQueen if you scroll down their website for long enough a box appears and one of the options in it is applying to work for them.

joewe41 · 09/11/2022 07:15

@TypoQueen1 I emailed them and said someone had passed me their email to apply for transcription job. They will come back to you and take it from there. @Whitestar55 Dont know why but I thought you worked with Tpro. Additional notes get added on the letter in red but are actually counted in the number of characters so you don't lose out.

TypoQueen1 · 09/11/2022 07:29

Thanks for the info. Just to change the subject how do you show another mumsnet user's name at the beginning of your message?

Chrissols · 09/11/2022 07:52

@TypoQueen1 you just use @

TypoQueen1 · 09/11/2022 09:32

@Chrissols thanks!!

Whitestar55 · 09/11/2022 10:05

Thanks everyone for the info on Tpro. There do seem to be advantages to working for them as opposed to the other company!!!

OP posts:
danblack87 · 09/11/2022 10:19

@Chrissols All 4 of mine are surgical departments - inter-related/ The amount of tasks did decrease for a couple of months and then I wasn't able to work much. This week things appear to have picked up - Fingers' x'd.

TypoQueen1 · 09/11/2022 15:10

Does anyone have experience of Accuro? I am on their books but have never done any work for them, they are always sending me emails saying they are very busy.

deflatedbirthday · 09/11/2022 15:19

I do. I liked them! The pay isn't fantastic (on par with dict8) but their customer service is much much better.

I only stopped because their system works on telling them how much work you want. I found that difficult, that I couldn't just log on when it suited me.

TypoQueen1 · 09/11/2022 17:23

Sorry one more question, with T Pro I know you have to commit to a certain number of characters per month however can you choose when to work, do you have to let them know your availability in advance? Thanks.

Gally123 · 09/11/2022 18:26

@TypoQueen1 - you can type when you want with Tpro - evening, weekends, there is normally work, However, they do like to know when you are going on holiday or not going to do the amount of work laid out in your contract. For me it is 150 letters a week but it varies as to when they took you on. Last time I think I gave about 2 weeks notice for holiday.

Chrissols · 09/11/2022 18:31

@TypoQueen1 The pay with Accuro is very poor, you get paid by the minute so if you get an awkward one (which a lot are), you will struggle to get above £6 - 7 an hour, their rates are well below minimum wage.
