Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

Hey clients here's a perk that won't cost you or our company anything, because the transcribers do it for free!!😂😝

I think the blood person dictating should write their own notes - problem solved (at least they get paid !!! ).

Whitestar55 · 12/06/2022 16:59

3000 transcribers on the books, so they know one of us will do it eventually, and so they continue to exploit the loophole.

My favourite note to secretary was "make sure you type this yourself - do not out it out to DICT8" !!!!
Then there followed all sorts of chit chat, like "What time are you coming in on Monday?" etc about holidays, coffee and I typed it all, knowing said "secretary" might be in for a talking to for not following instructions and typing it herself...

ha ha, priceless! well done you x

Frazzledbynature · 12/06/2022 18:42

quick tip I have "note to secretary add whats said into a word doc, paste it into the note from there saves time and overides the doctor faster but i do agree it should be the other way around.

I haven't worked since Weds, my neck pain flared up, they think its spondylitis and its been about a month now since it flared up, i have goodish days and horrendous ones and its the horrendous ones they email me with a work alert! lol

Frazzledbynature · 13/06/2022 11:21

Just had an eleven minute letter that finished at 1:40 followed by the rest a clinic evaluation! i skipped most of it just to ensure there wasn't an additional letter, stuck a note at the end. tempting to type out what i heard but the quality of the dictation wasn't that clear with the actual doctor!

Meha5a · 14/06/2022 10:07

DICT8 needs to offer incentives to type this crap - some of these doctors cannot even dictate the patient's name clearly and it's all down hill from there !!!!

Whitestar55 · 14/06/2022 11:13

@Meha5a Deep breaths, phonetic spelling for names, minimal in the notes box, get rid of the crap quickly 🤔🤗

On the other hand, when the dictation is clear I find myself typing it whilst thinking about something else entirely, it's amazing how the brain protects against boredom 😂

I honestly feel that due to the poor pay this job is no longer what it is supposed to be, i.e. a medical language professional transcribing, researching, editing and proofreading document production service, it has been reduced to a factory style piece work, bang em out as quick as you can job, but with the expectation of performing the above duties as well.

OP posts:
Meha5a · 14/06/2022 11:36

@Whitestar55 then I would have to type something along the lines of SMiiiiCH and BRWANNE for Smith/Brown 🤣🤣 and then not even know if it was truly Smith or Brown 🤣🤣🤣

I think the patient details should be copy and pasted by the person dictating.

And yes sometimes when I read the letter back, I can't remember typing some of it as I'm to busy thinking about faraway places 🍸🍹

danblack87 · 14/06/2022 11:38

@Whitestar55 On the tasks today the patient's names' dictated are undecipherable ... I can't work out if they are triple-barrelled names and they are not something you can guess at (so for me today it is Note Box: name unclear/spelling??)!!

Whitestar55 · 14/06/2022 12:10

I wouldn't worry, if it sounds like Smith and Brown I would type that, unsure or not. It probably gets deleted anyway, even if its correct, because usually patient details come up automatically on the hospital letter templates don't they.

Whitestar55 · 14/06/2022 12:11

I think half the stuff we have to put in the notes box is a stupid waste of everyone's time, here or at the receiving end.

OP posts:
Cherryblossom114 · 14/06/2022 13:53

Ive made an executive decision that if I cant make sense of the name....then its a NO from me. Trying to decipher the name alone is time consuming and that sets the pace as to how I proceed with the rest of the letter...... having said that sometimes it can then become clear at the end if you can persevere.....🤔

Happy days....weather is good

Meha5a · 14/06/2022 14:05

1 in every 10 is a decent task. After four hours of sifting through and waiting for the crap to go I have earnt peanuts 🙄 Years ago four hours was very profitable and you did not have to listening to most of the task before deciding to type.

danblack87 · 14/06/2022 14:31

@Cherryblossom114 : If I do not understand the name after two tries I put the note (Name unclear) and continue. Sometimes the name will appear later with a spelling or not. A lot of the time I find the text dictated is clearer than the name. If the whole thing is gogglydegook from I saw this ?? (don't know if it is a man or woman) then I return it - I am not a bloody interpreter!!!!

danblack87 · 14/06/2022 14:35

Well, the sun is out ... watered the garden ... nothing moving and if I don't get anything decent in next 1/2 hour I am giving up. Life is just too short, especially during the summer months. If it was Winter Now I would make more of a concerted efforted 'cos then there is little else to do LOL

Cherryblossom114 · 14/06/2022 14:41

@danblack87 I am not a bloody interpreter!!!! 🤣

danblack87 · 14/06/2022 14:55

@Cherryblossom114 well, we are not employed as interpreters are we AND @Gally123 : I had very strange dictation once - couple of years back. SO, yadeedardee dar letter. At the end I didn't post the note to the secretary at the end 'cos said 'meet you usual place 7.30 after clinic!! Just so not legit!! I didn't get any feedback from that one *you must type everything dictated+++ Laughed my socks off. These dictators need to get a grip about who are receiving the letters to be typed 'outsourcing' It's bloody rife LOL

Gally123 · 14/06/2022 15:02

@danblack87 I think I mentioned before the dictation where the doctor was trying to chat the secretary up, asking what she was doing etc - I did not type that either as I thought he would be embarrassed about lots of people hearing and also has it was totally non-work related.

As to patient names, if I cannot understand a name at all it gives a clue as to the dictator's ability to talk properly or otherwise and I immediately go no further.

Whitestar55 · 14/06/2022 15:07

@danblack87 You should have typed it as a NEXT LETTER addressed to Dear Secretary. After all, surely they were meeting to discuss work 😂💏

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 14/06/2022 15:11

@Gally123
It would be his own fault if other people heard it.
He shouldn't be using patient records as a vehicle for chatting up his secretary.
😂

OP posts:
Gally123 · 14/06/2022 15:13

@Whitestar55 he sounded rather young and nervous, probably did not have the courage to speak to her face to face!!

danblack87 · 14/06/2022 15:14

@Gally123 : it is totally embarrassing with the private msgs But why oh why send it on dictation?? my guess is that hospital recruit Dict8 for moving backlog. Can you imagine A dr's dreaded thoughts that their letter is not going to the personal secretary as usual - I bet they do not get much sleep once work is outsourced [be it a man or woman ... so far in my experience, there have been 10 [none of them women].
