Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

@TypoQueen1 I couldn't agree more - there is definitely something going on, it almost makes you not want to pick up a task even if one appears as if the company is in trouble there is a risk of not being paid

Whitestar55 · 01/11/2022 14:50

You can look at a company's accounts here to get an inkling: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/companies-house

nomadchild · 01/11/2022 14:57

@Whitestar55 but won’t they be a year out of date, the accounts ?

Gally123 · 01/11/2022 15:05

The weird thing is there are very few tasks with Tpro at the moment, normally runs at about 900, now at one point there was less than 200, which makes it difficult if you are limited in your specialties esp as it is mainly poor dictators and specialties like eyes and cardiac stress test reports, ie very short but work intensive letters. Either there were a lot of people working flat out over the weekend or there has been very little new stuff added.

Whitestar55 · 01/11/2022 15:07

@nomadchild Yes, unfortunately they are.

Has anyone done any other type of transcription besides medical, e.g. subtitles, general or legal transcription. Sometimes I fancy a change, getting sick of medical, especially all the abbreviations for the genetic testing that you have to research because you can't tell whether they are saying P, B, T , 3 etc?

It was a Bank Holiday in Ireland yesterday.

Gally123 · 01/11/2022 15:48

@deewu - I missed that! Thanks, that makes sense.

Lunnuni · 01/11/2022 19:08

Ah, thanks for that about the Irish BH, I wondered what was going on. Plenty on there again today.

joewe41 · 02/11/2022 12:14

@Gally123 Just wondering if you have sent an invoice yet? Bit confused, do you include bank details on the invoic?

First time.

Thanks,

Gally123 · 02/11/2022 12:23

@joewe41 - do you mean to Tpro? The invoice should have been submitted by end of business (I think that means 5pm) yesterday. This is always the same, by the end of day on the 1st of the month. There is a set layout for the invoice, which they should have emailed to you when you started. It is quite detailed as to information. You should email them and say you have not received this information and hence been unable to submit an invoice, hopefully as it is their error they should pay you. I did not submit an invoice when I first started as it only covered 3 or 4 days and was not very much. Otherwise they always pay before 7th of the month.

Lunnuni · 02/11/2022 17:26

They supply you with a spreadsheet that you fill in for them and email to them. It doesn't look great but I guess it does the job. This is one area where Dict8 is actually slightly better since they did their little update a few months back. I have submitted mine, have not been paid as yet.

joewe41 · 02/11/2022 20:58

@Lunnuni yeah invoice is quite messy looking but as long as I'm paid it doesn't matter 😂

nomadchild · 03/11/2022 05:58

@Lunnuni the fact they pay by BACS unlike Dict8 makes me happy.

Whitestar55 · 03/11/2022 10:02

I swear today, some of the dictators are not speaking actually words, but merely making prehistoric sounds!

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 03/11/2022 10:03

Typo - should be 'actual' not 'actually' - my brain is obviously warped from years of doing this pig of a job.

OP posts:
Gally123 · 03/11/2022 10:14

@Whitestar55 - I know what you mean, when describing to friends who I used to work with in my local hospital I said the dictation was often - "her both legs" instead of "both her legs" and that way of transposing words can be catching.

Whitestar55 · 03/11/2022 10:28

@Gally123 Haha yes, transposing words is common isn't it, but honestly today some of them have just made sounds/grunts when they struggle to find the words, or can't be bothered to pronounce them properly.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 03/11/2022 10:30

Very few speak in a professional manner nowadays, but when you do get one that does it's bliss.

I've just had a go at voice recognition transcription. I was surprised how much less tiring and wearing it was than typing everything out manually, although it probably took a little longer with the editing etc, than it would manually producing it, but I guess with practice this would improve. It only works with a clear speaker however.

OP posts:
Cherryblossom114 · 03/11/2022 13:54

I was wondering if theyve tried to do something with the sound as I have noticed from last week a lot of them even the clear ones sound like they've got a cold and unrecognisable, very nasal. 🤔

Whitestar55 · 03/11/2022 14:56

If anything I'm having a laugh with voice recognition:

He still has pain in the left shoulder associated with frozen children.

With best wishes and country girls. (kind regards).

Absolutely no tasks again - it's beyond a joke and time they let us know what on earth is going on!

ElleBee56 · 04/11/2022 11:32

Hi everyone. I haven't posted on here for ages (probably since the first thread) but have been catching up recently. I've just checked my bank account after paying in my Dict8 cheque yesterday via mobile phone app (was surprised it had arrived so quickly!) and after showing that it had been deposited it's now showing as an unpaid cheque. I've googled what this might mean and this is what it says: "The cheque issuer's bank has not been able to pay the cheque. There could be a number of reasons, including there not being enough money in the person's account. You'll need to contact the person who gave you the cheque to either get a replacement cheque or ask for a different type of payment". Now there might be a reasonable explanation for this, I might try to resubmit it to see if that works but I'm just a bit concerned that there's a bigger problem. Fortunately, last month's earnings weren't much with Dict8, I earned more with TPro. I'm wondering if anyone else has had/will have this problem. Hopefully not!

Chrissols · 04/11/2022 11:59

@ElleBee56 Good grief, maybe I'll stop looking for tasks then till we know a bit more - none of us want to work for nothing! Hope you get sorted though.

deflatedbirthday · 04/11/2022 12:03

@ElleBee56 I had a cheque this week which cleared fine. Last month I had an issue but it was an error with my bank
