Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:

@Newinmarch22 They like you to submit your invoice at the beginning of the next month, they used to specify the 1st, so it may be that even if you send it earlier it won't be processed until the 1st. Frustrating I know, but generally cheques have always arrived with a few days of submitting an invoice.

I submitted my invoice on 23rd September and am still awaiting my cheque! It is an absolute joke, they are the most disgusting company to work for!

That isn't very good not particulary in this current climate. :(

Workingfromhomenow · 05/10/2022 10:56

@Newinmarch22 They do ask us to submit our invoices at the beginning of the month, so perhaps they only pay out then. I've always sent mine in on the first few days of the month and never had any delay in receiving the cheque. Perhaps it's like most jobs, where you get paid at a set time each month. They really should start paying directly into our bank accounts though.

marieingham · 05/10/2022 11:04

I'm curious to know how much it would actually cost them to set up BACS. Even the smallest of companies use it. Maybe like the 8p per line since the dawn of time it's another penny pinching measure?

deflatedbirthday · 05/10/2022 12:29

@Newinmarch22 my friend and colleague requested a cheque mid month as she was on holiday at the beginning of that particular month. They advised her that they do send them out any time but it is slower than at the start of the month.

Whitestar55 · 05/10/2022 12:34

That can only mean that they only send them out at the start of the month 😂

OP posts:
Newinmarch22 · 05/10/2022 12:47

Doesn't seem to make any difference when you request payment. It still takes about a week from requesting cheque for it to be "processed" to receiving it in post and then about another week for cheque to clear. Personally I think they are struggling.

Whitestar55 · 05/10/2022 13:10

I find this is a job that can get you out of a hole if you are struggling, in between jobs or desperate, but it can put you IN a hole if you rely on it as your only income. As for the cheques, it's pretty much been that way for as long as I can remember, but at the moment the Postal strikes may be having an impact.

OP posts:
danblack87 · 05/10/2022 15:17

@Whitestar55 I agree the postal strikes must be having an impact. My cheque was processed on Saturday but I have not received it yet. Also I have invoiced before the 1st of the month (like 27th) previously and it has always been processed prior to 1st of the month.

joewe41 · 05/10/2022 20:34

Well, I had training today with Tpro and have to talk with two team leads from one of the hospitals tomorrow so might be able to start typing with them after that. Already seems better. They have a setting for you to put phrases or shortcuts for words in, there's also a chat box if you need help and selecting the correct clinic and date puts the patient and doctor details in. Hoping this works out as well as it sounds because there is still nothing on Dict8 and can't keep watching their task list on the off chance one letter might be there.😫

marieingham · 06/10/2022 12:19

Can I ask what speciality you do. I applied to T-Pro but was knocked back as I can only do ophthalmology, they wanted people with multiple specialities which I thought was a bit off, not many people like doing ophthalmology.

Gally123 · 06/10/2022 13:45

@marieingham I am surprised at that, as you say the ophthalmology on Tpro is always one of those specialties left (I leave it if I can), and also as it is VT only now they tell me people can do any specialty and you would soon pick others up. I am always being asked to check stuff I have no knowledge of. They must have a lot of people apply at the moment to be able to turn people away when they have a backlog of work.

marieingham · 06/10/2022 14:04

I was surprised but it was quite a few months back. Anyway, their loss.

joewe41 · 06/10/2022 16:03

@marieingham I type for Genetics but said I could type for any of them. My problem now seems to be that my foot pedal won't work with their system even though it's meant to and it's impossible (or takes forever) to type without it. I have to keep clicking the play button or rewind. So, it's not going very well and their IT department don't seem to have a fix for it.

Anyone else working for Tpro did you have problems with footpedal and what one are you using?

Gally123 · 06/10/2022 17:23

@joewe41 - I managed to set up my foot pedal. I use the same for DICT8 and Tpro. I used it okay on my old laptop and then managed to set it up again on my new laptop. The only problem is that it will not rewind (does with DICT8 though). Also I did some computer updates once which wiped out something and I had to fix it, which I did manage using TPro guides via their text box on the bottom left hand of the screen. My foot pedal is the one I bought via the DICT8 recommended place, Phillips, for use with Windows 10. It has lasted much longer than my other foot pedals as well (which I got from Amazon and Ebay, and were Panasonic)

joewe41 · 06/10/2022 18:03

@Gally123 I'm using the same pedal had for Dict8 and it still works there Philips 2310. Tried all the ideas on their site but nothing has worked. Ran PC repair tools so maybe that will have picked up and fixed something. Will see what they come back with. What pedal do you have?

Gally123 · 06/10/2022 18:06

@joewe41 mine is a Phillips ACC2310.

Gally123 · 06/10/2022 18:30

@joewe41 - have you tried logging off your computer/laptop and logging back on? I often forget that when doing things, that the system has to update itself for changes.

joewe41 · 06/10/2022 23:18

@Gally123 Honestly tried everything from uninstalling program and reinstalling, uninstalling foot pedal, stopping Windows turning off power to USB when not in use, and logging off and on several times. I'm actually fed up looking at it so it could be over before it's started LOL. I'm leaving it in their hands and with any luck they'll come up with something soon. Got word back from Accuro so it's another option. I like the way Tpro looks and feels but not without a foot pedal. The joys of working at home 😱

Lunnuni · 08/10/2022 10:50

I applied to T-pro. They appear to want editors rather than typists and pay a tiny amount per character which seems to work out about half a p a line. They also want a minimum 500 letters done a month, which could of course be a very variable amount depending on the length of each one. They would require to install software on my computer unlike Dict8, which is not particularly a plus in my view. I would want to know what it is before they put it on and how easy it is to get it off again. They do pay by bank transfer so that is a plus. They want you to sign an NDA which I don't see should be necessary. I will let you know how I get on. Dict8 still seem to me to have the best set-up with no commitment and simple interface. In the last week though I have had either no work or work of the worst quality from them so got to give this a try.

Lunnuni · 08/10/2022 11:05

Trying T pro. They pay per character 0.00084p including spaces. Seems to work out about the same as Dict8, however this is for editing speech recognition letters rather than actual typing. They pay by bank transfer which is a plus but require to put software onto your computer which could be a minus. I do like the simple Dict8 interface. However, since Dict8 has only come up with no/very poor quality work in the last week I am looking to take this forward. You do have to commit to 500 letters a month though, so Dict8 scores higher on flexibility.

Whitestar55 · 10/10/2022 08:25

Good morning everyone. Another question about Tpro please. What is the typing test like? Are you timed, is it medical terminology and is it easy!? Thanks.

OP posts:
nomadchild · 10/10/2022 15:26

@Whitestar55, typing test is fine and it is med terminology. You have to do 2 tasks from a list and you can select which you want to do, like a list on Dict8.

deewu · 10/10/2022 17:09

I was just given two tasks to type, no choice and not my specialities but it was fine.

Whitestar55 · 10/10/2022 19:18

Thanks for the info x
