Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 26/09/2022 16:47

@joewe41 - I think their conditions vary as to when they take people on - I have to do 150 letters a week, which is 30 a day, however sometimes I do 60-70 a day. Also, there seems to be no problem as to whether it is 150 short letters - at the end of the day I can often do 10 short letters in 30 mins or so.

Whitestar55 · 26/09/2022 17:22

What happens if you don't meet the agreed quota of letters for Tpro?

OP posts:
deflatedbirthday · 26/09/2022 17:33

@Gally123 what is the current rate of pay with Tpro if you don't mind me asking?

deewu · 26/09/2022 17:35

My contract says 500,000 characters a month so they must all vary. I have not had a problem achieving this even when I have been away for a few days, but I do sometimes do a bit at the weekend.

joewe41 · 26/09/2022 17:51

@deewu and @Gally123 Thanks, I've been sent instructions for typing test so just about to do it now. Fingers crossed all works out.

Gally123 · 27/09/2022 08:11

@deflatedbirthday - the pay rate is a bit lower than DICT8 as it is VR work, which in theory is quicker just checking letters rather than typing, although some require more input than others. But then with DICT8 some letters take longer etc. However, there is a higher bonus rate if you reach 1,000,000 characters. At the end of the day it is paid work, and better than sitting twiddling your thumbs waiting for something on DICT8.

deflatedbirthday · 27/09/2022 08:32

@Gally123 thank you! Oh absolutely! Sometimes I just need a break from flat out typing. I have a condition which affects my joints and when my wrists flare up it can be quite difficult. Something a little less straining on that front would be very welcome!

Whitestar55 · 27/09/2022 09:42

Good morning everyone. A question about Tpro. Do you have to provide references with your application as you do with DICT8, or are they happy with your CV and a successful typing test?

OP posts:
Raisingboys22 · 27/09/2022 09:58

Tpro sounds good, but seems more of a thing to do if you’re not working?

nomadchild · 27/09/2022 10:06

@Whitestar55 I did not have to provide references but I do not know if that is because I had 40 years of med sec experience all that they could check ie employed in the NHS and private/academic sector. It may be different if you have only had a few years however the blurb does say 3 years med transcription experience, I mean they know if you have been doing stuff like Dict8 you will not be able to get a direct reference hence that is why you have the typing test as they can see instantly if you have the skills. I employed a lot of people in the last 20 years in the NHS that said they could type and we had done away with typing tests but as everyone has a tablet, laptop now they were just one finger typing and soon realised they could not keep up with the workload, the powers to be in HR soon realised the value of a typing test.

Whitestar55 · 27/09/2022 13:14

@nomadchild Thanks for the info. I have years of experience in healthcare both clinical and admin and typing qualifications. I'm glad they don't ask for references, that can be a pain can't it, but I thought they might want them as proof of our experience. I too noticed many of the typists in the typing pool in the NHS could not touch type and some had no medical terminology knowledge either, which would frustrate some of the doctors.

nomadchild · 27/09/2022 14:23

@Whitestar55 we are obviously old school!!

joewe41 · 27/09/2022 18:05

@nomadchild How long did it take before you heard back after typing test? I completed it yesterday and hoping it's not a bad sign that they haven't come back to me yet.

nomadchild · 27/09/2022 19:52

@joewe41 I heard back within an hour but don’t be disheartened they may have a lot of applications suddenly and the person yr dealing with might have a day off or be sick.

joewe41 · 27/09/2022 21:14

@nomadchild Thanks, hopefully they will reply tomorrow.

nomadchild · 28/09/2022 13:10

had a good week so far but today the day I have put aside for typing totally blocked since an hour ago by an awful dictator. Have typed a few of their tasks but now haven't got the will was hoping something else would drop in. It is so frustrating!!! Also because I cant start with Tpro till next week as I have some final bits of training to do and I can see all the tasks there waiting. Any thoughts on the awful little video they sent us about feedback. If that is what they are spending their money on and paying us 8p a line still I have no words.

joewe41 · 28/09/2022 14:51

@nomadchild The video was hilarious, they check for consistency but give conflicting feedback. Don't type Dr's name if not dictated, don't assume but if mentioned in letter then you should have added it lol. Heard back from Tpro thankfully and have training next week.

nomadchild · 28/09/2022 14:56

@joewe41 that’s great re tpro, I’m pleased for you.

deflatedbirthday · 28/09/2022 16:02

I did a lot of 😂 😂 😂 at the video!

marieingham · 03/10/2022 14:00

Good afternoon, has anyone picked up any ophthalmology typing today. I'm constantly refreshing the task list and so far there has been nothing!

sijacks05 · 03/10/2022 15:49

Omg the video 🤣🤣. What an actual waste of time! They contradict themselves so much. Not had any feedback for months and I know for sure, I've not completely stuck to their rules. Used to bother me, not anymore for the 8p!

joewe41 · 03/10/2022 20:02

@marieingham Don't know about Ophthalmology but Genetics has only (if lucky) been about 2 letters a day. Today was only 2, 30 second ones.

Frazzledbynature · 04/10/2022 14:13

Hi Everyone,
Well so much for plans, i've been down with the dreaded C19 for the first time after catching it from the inlaws over a week ago. My first time working and strangely after submitting my cheque last monday only arrived today, sure the strikes but even so nothing pulled out the hat to assist those of us who are needing money. Come on Dict8 you've done it before.

still, apart from the usual increase in fuel, what do i need money for when sick eh?

Newinmarch22 · 04/10/2022 16:05

I submitted my invoice on 23rd September and am still awaiting my cheque! It is an absolute joke, they are the most disgusting company to work for!

danblack87 · 05/10/2022 00:36

I personally have (only once) had delayed cheque in all the years of working for Dict8 .. yes is a pain re-banking a cheque and waiting to clear but I am used to it now/ BACS would far better of course. I took most of September off so am working towards 'full steam ahead' for October .. hope there is work there for me and all.
