Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:
Frazzledbynature · 23/09/2022 11:48

Well I've wasted a morning checking for work to finish off just 3-4 ish 2min letters to complete this months pay cheque, I would have loved to say anything extra is advance of next month and I can take some time off for projects pending but looks like my speciality has dried up, there's a problem with the server or the company is going under! You never know these days what's going on do you?

I've got a zoom call at noon so when thats over with, if there's no work from thereon. Looks like my weekend will be spent checking for work...

T-pro looks more promising every day... tell me do you need to confirm time spent typing with them or does it work as and when available like Dict8?

joewe41 · 23/09/2022 15:12

How easy is it to fill the work quota with Tpro? I study full-time so just wondering if I would have enough time. Are they quick to type?

marieingham · 23/09/2022 15:19

So, I emailed Dict8 about ophthalmology letters drying up, there reply was 'Thank you for your email. I have checked and I can see there are currently ophthalmology letters waiting to be transcribed. Since the trusts upload directly onto Dict8, we advise transcribers to continue to login throughout the day because dictations can be uploaded at any time.' - not very helpful is it?

joewe41 · 23/09/2022 15:40

@marieingham Maybe I'll do the same about Genetics. Perhaps they will take a hint that nothing seems to be coming through from their end and we could really do with a bit more information.

marieingham · 23/09/2022 17:07

Good shout, let us know if they reply!

nomadchild · 23/09/2022 17:19

So took the plunge and applied to Tpro, got my training next week. From their website it seems they have taken quite a few Trusts from Dict8 that I used to get work from. They already are human when dealing with you and polite. It isn't much better pay than Dict8 but in the current financial climate the last two weeks have made me nervous of just relying on Dict8. I have had a decent amount of work today and some good letters but the usual happens I now have a clogged screen with awful distorted dictation, after 5.00 on a Friday is too late in the day to face it.

I emailed this afternoon too and got more or less the same email. I asked how I would go about adding on other speciality’s with ophthalmology being down and they said about consistent typing without any major errors and then it’s still not guaranteed 😒

is tpro the same as dict8? Just pick up when you want or not?

Lhoot1 · 23/09/2022 18:03

I have not done much for the past few weeks because i have been picking up extra hours in my part time job and doing nightshift too but logging in and checking my speciality it seems not much different to usual amount and even days there wasn't alot there was a recent bank holiday and then with the queen passing away too i can only imagine clinics were reduced or rescheduled?

joewe41 · 23/09/2022 19:16

@marieingham I got the same reply you did. Trusts upload work and they advise us to keep checking throughout the day as the workload is not down to them. Well unless they have only one hospital uploading work then something is definitely wrong. I e-mailed Tpro today and sent CV. Hoping they reply.

joewe41 · 23/09/2022 19:26

@Lhoot1 I would like to think that is the case but honestly, in the last 15 years of working with them I have never seen it this bad. Fingers crossed it is just a blip.

Lhoot1 · 23/09/2022 19:35

@joewe41 i have only been doin this for about 6 months and I do have a weekend job but defo in my speciality i see a dip the Friday before a bank holiday and then the week of the bank holiday the whole week is quieter that’s just my observations and with it being the queen passing away it has been more than a normal bank holiday. They have also been advertising for new starts too so that could be a factor.

Lovemydaxie · 23/09/2022 20:15

They have been on another massive recruitment drive the last few weeks and probably have a lot of new starters mopping up the work. I suspect it'll settle down again soon and us die hards will have more work again, hopefully.

deflatedbirthday · 25/09/2022 10:39

I recently had feedback:

Do not assume who the letter is addressed to. Do not type letter to GP or dear Dr unless stated.

So I haven't...

Feedback today....

You've missed Dear Dr on multiple letters

So do I type it if it's not dictated or not?! I've asked them to clarify but assume there answer will be clear as mud as per usual

Gally123 · 25/09/2022 12:21

@deflatedbirthday - that's a bit weird. I do not put "letter to GP" unless it is dictated but I always put "Dear Dr" unless it is to the patient, or "To whom It may concern" when I put "Dear Sir/Madam" - what do that they you to put "Dear " and leave the rest blank?

deflatedbirthday · 25/09/2022 12:47

@Gally123 I honestly haven't a clue. I follow the advice they send and then I get the opposite a few weeks later!

Frazzledbynature · 25/09/2022 14:40

The mouse mat of all knowledge clearly states the template should say Dear Dr unless to someone else. xx

Frazzledbynature · 25/09/2022 14:42

GP or Specialists name
GP or specialists address

Dear Dr,

HOWEVER... i have been told that the address follows on straight from the name of the addressee for "reasons" so i've always done that and no problems. Same goes for the CC section.

Frazzledbynature · 26/09/2022 10:52

Since Friday I've been waiting for one letter to finish my monthly set figure off and just done it this morning, I've managed to type 3 letters from Friday afternoon to this morning. Never seen it so bad. I've requested my money in the meantime.

Currently dealing with a family emergency too so sitting and checking for work is not happening and my concentration skills are way out west as it is.

marieingham · 26/09/2022 11:21

Who did you contact at Tpro?

Whitestar55 · 26/09/2022 11:54

I do hope DICT8 are not going under, but their system is so labour intensive both for the transcribers and the secretaries receiving the work back. They are possibly being out-competed by companies using voice recognition software and better integration of transcription into clients' systems, not to mention the inability to make BACS payments.

OP posts:
Gally123 · 26/09/2022 13:13

@marieingham - I just filled in the form on their website I think, and possibly included a condensed CV. I applied just over 2 years ago now, but I remember it was via their website.

nomadchild · 26/09/2022 13:28

Had my Tpro training this morning and all good. It is so much more efficient than Dict8 and nice to connect with a face for training. @Whitestar55 those are some good points which I think are relevant about how outdated Dict8 system is and that they may be being out competed by more savvy tech dictation firms. It was just nice that their systems mirrors typing in word a lot and that makes it quicker for me.

Frazzledbynature · 26/09/2022 14:52

@Whitestar55 Good to see you back, missed your input X

Whitestar55 · 26/09/2022 14:57

@Frazzledbynature Thanks, I haven't posted for a while have I, I've been quite busy with various things. Hope your specialties pick up soon!

Anyone working for Tpro - do you find it easy enough to fill their 500 letters a month or whatever quota? Just curious before I go ahead. Going to reply today.
