Yes very strange, hope it doesn't mean they wont be doing Ophthalmology any more as that is usually the main bulk of my dictation

Ophthalmology seems to have nose dived massively. Used always to be loads, very strange.

I only do one service and I just had a letter that was labelled under my service but was for another service. It was only a small results letter, but was still very odd.

There has been next to nothing on yesterday and nothing so far today. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just Genetics? I'm slightly panicked as really need to pick up work.

anyone lacking in work could try Tpro - they are very busy at the moment. It is all voice recognition work (so the pay rate is less but it is quicker work - normally!) and people have to check several specialties but I am showing 1550 tasks on one hospital at the moment (I am linked to two hospitals). I have never seen any genetics but have see Ophthalmology. The application process can be a bit long and you need to persist but it is worth it in the end if you need the work. I found with COVID that you sometimes cannot earn enough working for just one company - you need a back up/second one as well (at least). Tpro are based in Ireland but now pay in Sterling and they are very nice when it comes to feedback!

Hi, I type ophthalmology. It's getting very quiet?

I picked up a 38 minute audio last night which turned into a right faff! It was a letter every 1.5 mins approx with address dictated. I was plodding along slowly but surely.

I emailed to say I would be longer than the 8 hours as I was going to bed.

The task has been withdrawn from me at 4am.

I don't think the 8 hour rule works if there's no one to contact over night.

@Gally123 I agree with you wholeheartedly about Tpro my hospitals always have lots of Ophthalmology available in fact my test was in that speciality and something else I never normally transcribe! Regards Dict8 Ophthalmology they have probably just taken on lots of new transcribers in that speciality. It seems to happen from time to time or alternatively they have just lost a contract/had a short catch up contract which also happens but they will always deny this.

Got a lull, I actually got right into work when I got back from the day off. Ironically though on the day I logged out,I had a reply to an email I had sent off regarding no dictation in one job and they had emailed me back telling me how to process it! I replied saying no can do logged out not back until thursday and thought one of you guys would be able to process it. ( a blank dictation after all!)

I was actually working sunday evening, logged on pc due to antivirus sofware charging me a resubscription i had missed notification on which annoyed me, thankfully it was my paypal account not my bank account and got an instant refund.

Anyway, I managed to type my quota in around 2 hours listening to the best doctor ever for dictation, I was gutted someone else was typing because I think I'd be able to have had today off too. Now its the post bank holiday waiting game. Saying that I've just typed an awful sound quality one from august!!

OMG I actually feel sick. There's nothing on Dict8 for Genetics again today. I haven't managed to work up much this month at all. Seriously worried.

Anyone worked for Accuro? Just looking for other companies and saw this one. Wondering what they are like.

Noting again for ophthalmology, I’ve earned about £30 this month!

@Raisingboys22 there is the international ophthalmology conference this week so they are probably all there. I’ve found that when a specialty reduces it’s often due to a major international conference and they don’t allow juniors to hold clinics now if a consultant is not in the same clinic. Royal College training guidelines.

I've come to a standstill having typed 4 letters I know were left by other typists due to the sound quality issues. I persevered with the longest one this morning and it wasn't that bad, I just had to turn my sound volume right down to bare minimum ( I know right, makes a change!). But they've not uploaded any more dictation since i cleared it :( The irony was some i typed yesterday sounded like they were playing catch up with letters being dictated from as far back as August...

You can always tell there's no work on with me as I come here for a catch up :D

£6.80 earned from 7am this morning, its now 09.26 :(

One letter today. Is it across all specialties? I'm not in Ophthalmology, just wondering what others are typing.

My Specialties are still coming up regularly, It's just a lottery as to which are good to type!

@joewe41, I type 4 specialties 1 of which is ophthalmology and my others are fine. I also noticed there was a European Ophthalmology Conference the week before the National one in London this month so I'm sure that is why it is decimated. This would happen when I was an NHS sec in Gastro whenever the conferences are on clinics are cancelled as most docs except a skeleton staff just for emergencies are at them. That's my theory, we'll wait and see.

I type four specialties. There's loads of the one so not sure about the other three as I'm only gettting that one coming up at the moment.

I only type for one, have tried asking to type for orthopaedic but they refused. Would make it easier if there were a couple to type for.

I just done a test for TPRO so will see if they come back and say yes. I always get so nervous doing tests,

Have noticed a lot of what I'm typing is going back to August wonder if there has been a problem with uploading as I recognise the voices they are not new doctors.

@nomadchild I type for 4 too but not for Ophthalmology. I tried it years ago but it was not my preferred specialty .. So, after a trial, I asked for it to be taken of my specialty list.

Something is going on been stuck with 3 letters the awful ones for the last hour. I wish they would communicate and say if there is a problem. At least we would know.
